Cleaned up our XML screens allowing flow to work more smoothly for our customers - great productivity improvement. Created an application that allows a dealer to use his Apple or Android phone to scan the VIN and upload to the dealer inventory on our platform. Interface with Facebook allowing the dealer to sell cars on their Facebook page. Created a virtual marketplace for dealers to buy and sell cars within our platform.

• The meet their goals within tight time constraints and were on budget. They are very flexible to work with and have become part of our team.

We engaged Orange5 to develop an inventory tracking system for remote job sites. The system tracks sales of inventory as well as tracking of rental equipment on site.

What were your goals for this project?

Develop a standalone inventory and rental tracking package for remote job sites.

How did you select this vendor?

Orange5 has done work for another company I worked at several years ago. I was familiar with their work and received an excellent reference from that company as well as other references. In addition to excellent references, Orange5 has very competitive rates.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

The tracking software needed extensive flexibility in how the sales and rentals are tracked to meet the various customer demands. Each customer and site has a different set of criteria on how they'd like to track activity. The system needs the ability run stand alone in the event we lose internet connection. The system can then sync back up to a cloud-based database when the connection is reestablished. The system also provides a web-based customer portal for reporting in real time. Orange5 provided all development work as well as project management. We are collaborating with Orange5 in the design process. They we are able to bring recommendations on architecture to the project as well.

What was the team composition?

The 2 principals work as project management and Liaison between Orange5 and F&M Mafco. They have a team of developers. F&M Mafco's team consists of me as providing requirements and specs. We also have a network person and developer on our staff that work as part of the team.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The software has given us the flexibility to serve our customer’s needs. We had originally used off the shelf software, but we are never able to meet all the customer’s needs. The software has proven to give us a competitive edge as well the ability to make changes quickly to provide all the services our customer base asks for. We have recently rolled out a new major release of the product with extensive improvements based on experience in the field. This version will give us even more of a competitive edge and ease of use.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

I asked as the Project Manager overall and Orange5 managed the development team on their end. We had a scheduled call weekly as well as daily work between my staff and Orange5. The arrangement has been very effective.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

There flexibility in meeting our needs and schedules. I've been very impressed with the quality of the work provided and technical expertise when designing architecture. They are a very responsive group that meets their deadlines and does what they say they'll do. They are available whenever we need then. They have been very flexible in adjusting to constant changing priorities.

I don’t have any issues to speak of at this time.

We have a platform that sends notifications to vendors and requests sets of information around cost negotiation, and USMCA information. We contracted with Orange5 to provide updates to this including adding a Tabs for Sustainability and GTIN information. In addition they added control mechanisms to allow us to open/lock certain elements of the data collection (for instance when we do not want to open a cost negotiation session but other updates are needed).

They also were able to clean up some existing errors and build a file attachment process. They also aided in the backend integration to another platform.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

• We were able to successfully launch by the deadline a collection effort from our vendors. We obtained good compliance and continue to make good use of the platform.

They were incredibly responsive. they worked several times into late evenings to ensure they met the guidelines. They were able to adjust quickly to changing specifications which we tried to avoid but are often inevitable.
