BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I was the former CIO of SodaStream, a large manufacturer and distributor of home carbonation machines worldwide. SodaStream is owned by PepsiCo.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Optiveum?

We decided to establish shared services and offshore capabilities.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Optiveum provides HR consulting and recruiting services. The team has helped us shape and refine our requirements, budget, and overall spending. They have an excellent understanding of the market.

Optiveum has done headhunting for us. They've looked for talent based on specific job descriptions. The candidates were mainly independent and didn't work for us directly. We preferred not to have separate contracts with each talent. We planned to be the hiring company and pay only Optimum.

Optiveum also made the first screening and conducted interviews with the candidates. The team didn't provide any services on top of the consulting and headhunting. However, we aim to use their management services at our new company.

What is the team composition?

We were in contact with around 20 teammates from Optimum, including system analysts, developers, QA engineers, BI analysts, and data engineers.

How did you come to work with Optiveum?

Most of our capabilities were in Israel. We needed new talent because we couldn't find them locally. I hired an application manager from Switzerland. He used to work with Optimum and brought the recommendation. As a result, we hired Optimum.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around €150,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The partnership started in September 2018 and is still ongoing with SodaStream.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The primary success metric is finding the right fit for the roles and building engagement with those team members. Most candidates stay with us for a few years, which is a success factor.

How did Optiveum perform from a project management standpoint?

Optiveum is very target-oriented. Sometimes, the team has even pushed us to complete the process. They've managed the project very well.

We always identified the budget framework we wanted to pay. In most cases, Optimum was target-oriented and found the right person based on the budget. When finding a candidate was difficult, they returned to the planning table with us. We tried to see what we should do to find better talent, whether to modify the budget or look in another region.

We provide the job description, and Optiveum provides the candidates. We need to respond to the candidates and interview them, and Optiveum has managed this screening very well.

We typically communicate via email and phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Optiveum is very professional. I'm impressed by their ability to understand in detail the character we're seeking and find the right talent. Their success rate is impressive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Optiveum may be able to provide additional services, such as management services. I aim to use those services in my new position, and I'll see how they work.

First, define what you'd like to achieve with Optiveum. Identify the specific talents you want, the budget, and how to build the engagement. It can be successful if you create this overall supporting organization.

We have hired 10+ developers through their services. Average hiring process is 2 weeks. Everything from creating the post, finding hires and first screening are made by the vendor. The vendor has also assisted in:

Finding accountant
Finding a lawyer
Finding an office

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

Extremly good communication. A new recruitment process starts within one working day. New potential hires are presented within a few days. They have a great network of really talented developers. They listen to our needs and adapt for changes even when the recruitment process already have started. We expected the hiring process to be 1-2 months but all of the hires are done within 1 month of initiating the process and the average time from initiating the process to signed contract is 2 weeks.
