The OOMPH team and I created a process in which tickets are created in Jira for any issues/improvements that are documented for the website.  I meet bi-weekly with the OOMPH team to go over all tickets to make sure that all tickets are being worked on in a timely manner.   The OOMPH team does regular maintenance on the website. 
I work with them to test the website bi-weekly to prepare for the maintenance launches that they complete. Anytime an issue is reported to me on the website I am able to quickly get in contact with the OOMPH team.  They can quickly access the issue and be able to give me timely updates.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Being able to keep the tickets current and able to complete them in a timely manner.  Be able to eliminate the backlot of tickets from that prior two years.

Projects and tasks have been completed on time.  If there are issues the OOMPH team does communicate to me and make sure to update me on the status of each ticket outstanding.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I think one of things that stands out about OOMPH is how quickly they are able to get through requests.  They also look at my company's site and let me know if they see something that is an issue.  It really makes me feel that they are true partners.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Oomph, Inc. could have done differently?

At the end of 2024 there was an image issue with the website and it was noticable down.  Although they did make the issue a priority after being notified it did take some time to get a root cause analysis to us.  My company's leadership was looking for answers and I could not give them those answers because waiting for the root cause analysis.  

I would have liked to have gotten an inital root cause analysis first then a more detailed report if needed a week or two later.  I understand sometimes it takes time to find the root cause of an issue but knowing that our website agency is looking into and having them share what they discovered so far can go a long way in reassuring the leadership team that the site is fixed or being fixed.

Following the initial launch, Oomph transitioned into ongoing platform maintenance and support, collaborating closely with me as the Director of Operations and our project manager through monthly sprints. Key deliverables have included:

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

In addition to the success of the rebrand and application of the new design (which have received high praise from leadership and board members), traffic has increased, organic search is down and direct search is up, suggesting that fewer people search for content on the ONS site via Google.

User engagement (as GA4 measures it) is up almost 18 percent and user behavior is suggesting that they are finding what they need without unnecessary page views. (Our old site’s analytics suggested there were more page views than necessary because visitors had trouble finding content.) Individual course pages have seen a significant increase in traffic, which supports the idea that visitors are more easily finding deep pages and sections of content.

Finally, on-site search usage is also down by 84.96 percent, meaning fewer visitors are resorting to search to find what they need. This is a strong indication of a more successful information architecture and navigation interface with strong on-page directions towards important sections of content.

Project management--from backlog maintenance to deployment prep--was very smooth. Basecamp was consistently used for documentation, communications, and other project management, which ensured everything was found in one place.

Given that we requested a lot in a fairly short timeframe with multiple unknown unknowns, they delivered MVP on time and were always willing to help identify innovative ways to meet the business and technical needs we presented.

In transparency, my experience working with similar agencies has been limited, but the clarity of communication, well-defined roles and responsibilities, resource management, budget management, and timeline management have made for great outcomes.

Occasionally there was difficulty when trying to interface with another vendor, but many contributing factors (including time zones around the world) affected those interactions. Broadly speaking, there is very little I would change.

We were working with another web development agency that wasn't fulfilling our needs. Thus, we sought Oomph, Inc.'s help to get our new website off the ground.

What was the scope of their involvement?
Oomph, Inc. is in charge of our web development. The team initially helped us launch a new website. They came in and picked the project where the other agency had left it, jumping right in and figuring things out to fix everything we needed. 

Given that this is a B2B website, we have a lot of customers going to our website to learn about the different wines that we carry. Moreover, our business structure is very complex. Therefore, Oomph, Inc. has helped us understand our customer journey. They've also set up a team page with a complex structure in the backend. 

Although Oomph, Inc. hasn't been responsible for the design, they've made small design tweaks. For example, they've helped us optimize our product pages to simplify them and convey the best UX. However, we'll use them for our future web design needs.

We now have a retainer contract with Oomph, Inc., which includes maintenance. We recently started a project with Oomph, Inc. regarding Google Analytics 4 (GA4) optimization and Google Tag Manager support. As for the technology stack, our website uses Drupal. Our website has a lot of information.

Since launching our new website, we've seen an increase in web traffic. Oomph, Inc. has done a fabulous job and has been excellent to work with. The quality of their work has always been exceptional, and they've always gone above and beyond for us. For example, they think of solutions that we don't think of ourselves, and they're always helping us optimize our ideas.

Whenever we come up with something, Oomph, Inc. always comes back with a better way of doing it, and they're always correct. Overall, their solutions are always top-notch.

How did the company perform from a project management standpoint?
Oomph, Inc. usually delivers on budget and even a little ahead of schedule. When things seem that they'll take a long time, their team usually does them in a much shorter period than estimated. They're very quick on their deliveries. Moreover, they're very communicative, as they're always communicating back and forth. We use Jira for tickets. Moreover, we communicate via email, and I have weekly calls with the project manager.
 
Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

Matthew has been my main point of contact throughout this experience. He jumped in when we needed a new web development agency, showing that he was knowledgeable and willing to help. Matthew has also helped us and guided us, and he's been really patient with our website and very responsive overall.

What did you find most impressive about them?
Besides Matthew, I would like to congratulate the whole team of Oomph, Inc. For example, Rachel has been fabulous and highly responsive. Moreover, the team is honest and upfront, which is very important for web development agencies. Additionally, they always deliver beyond expectations.

The deliverables were Adobe XD screen designs and documentation, and in the process they made additional suggestions about how we could/should have some functional pieces of the product work, and those were great ideas so those changes were incorporated into the product as well.

OPA needed to develop a brand new online platform that attracted potential immigrant borrowers on their path to citizenship and/or supporters of immigrants on their path to Citizenship. The platform also needed to provide the ability to apply and be approved for a loan in real-time, as well as the ability to donate, and lend money to the OPA fund. Once users became borrowers or lenders, the platform also needed to provide the ability for users to be able to manage their accounts

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We conducted a comprehensive search which included 10 vendors and three rounds of reviews. Our goal was to secure a partner, not a vendor, someone who believed in our mission and had the design AND technical chops to help design and develop the website/platform. Oomph was clearly qualified by their past experience but from their very first communication, it was clear that they understood the vision and the challenges.

We asked Oomph to develop a website that was easily manageable and needed to integrate into an overall larger platform (network of applications) that was required to support business goals. Oomph developed the site on Drupal but needed to work with a broader tech team to integrate with Azure, Salesforce, Fundingo, Click and Pledge, ACH, LaserCredit, 360SMS, Motionpoint, Fastly, and more. It was a very complex integration which they helped lead, ensuring that all aspects were considered when building out the site and APIs required to integrate with other applications

The PM was our main point of contact but we also had direct contact, when required, with all members of the team. The team was made up of the Director of Design and UX, a visual designer, front end and back end developers, and an account manager

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We have only recently launched but with Oomph, we were able to accomplish a lot in an aggressive timeline. We launched with very few issues, none that impacted functionality, that was addressed as soon as they surfaced. We are just now seeing the growth in visitors and conversions. Overall a well-managed engagement and great collaboration and experience with their team.

The PM ran this engagement very tightly by creating a strong framework of applications and processes. We had regularly scheduled meetings, and used Basecamp for communication and JIRA for bug/issue tracking. Due to the PM's diligence by focussing on details and ensuring that communication was flowing accurately and consistently we were able to manage and keep on top of a very complex design and build project.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Direct access to all team members when needed. This helped to streamline the process and eliminate potential communication issues. They were also very proactive in not only managing their own piece of the platform but reached out throughout the engagement to the other vendors/agencies, helping to ensure alignment in the sequencing of development and timing of delivery.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We were a highly technical and heavy custom development engagement for them. There were times when they were challenged. But they never shied away from the challenge and provided solid solutions. I would say more resources in the backend solution area would be helpful as we were reliant on one developer for most of the engagement. Would have been nice to have some depth in that area.

We had to completely redesign our website. Oomph helped us migrate to Drupal from our old CMS system and worked tirelessly to ensure that our team was fully satisfied with the final product and were trained on how to update the site.

This was huge since prior to this redesign, we had to submit changes to the website to our tech team which was an exhaustive process.

I believe we worked with about four people; a project manager, ux designers, and the web dev team

Their design was a significant improvement from the previous one. I wasn’t with the organization long enough to see what difference it made in terms of ROI but the final product was top-notch

Based on an internally developed list of priorities and requirements a wide net was cast and vetted until we were down to 6 companies which we reached out to and interviewed. After these interviews our team internally deliberated and decided to hire Oomph, Inc.

In order to stay on schedule, we only had 4 months to have our entire site designed. Our back-end development team had completed much of the site and we know what was left to complete. Based on this work, we were able to create a list of required pages needed for design. Oomph worked with us to build a design guide and then they created a work chart providing a timeline for completion of each page. Through sustained diligence by both Oomph and my team we completed the project on time and within budget.

We worked with four members of the Oomph team. Two of them kept us on track, one did the creative design work and the fourth did the functional design work.

Oomph completed the project on time and within budget. It was an aggressive timeline so I was impressed with the results.

Very effective. I have worked with very few teams that were as responsive, nimble, creative and yet pragmatic with their suggestions and work product. It was a beautiful symphony at times and a pleasant experience.

Oomph was always there when we needed them during the build to discuss an issue. They also were able to come up with solutions in the moment and quickly implement them. Super, super responsive.

No. Under this tight timeframe I have them they provided a work product that I thought would of taken much longer to complete. Great experience.

We hired Oomph to provide ongoing web development and search engine optimization.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

They were selected before my tenure, however, I was told the deciding factor was their mix of knowledge about the company and industry combined with their team and experience.

The website was built using the Drupal platform, and was a very strong web presence. However, as BCBSA expanded its Health of America program, the team decided to invest in expanded customization of the HealthOfAmerica.com section of the website to support thought leadership.

The project included research (based on existing usage and user surveys), design / UX support, search engine research and optimization, and ultimately implementation for both desktop and mobile platforms.

Our project manager was our main point of contact. We utilized Oomph for several projects during my time, which sometimes brought in other Oomph specialists. However, overall we interacted with our PM and 2-3 other members of the team most of the time. It was a tight but effective team, with the ability to scale up for key times or whenever we had multiple projects at the same time.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

After launch, we saw a significant increase in key metrics including search traffic, time on site, and other factors.

We used Jira to manage tickets and ongoing day-to-day activities, as well as regular check in meetings. They were always very good about communicating timelines and setting clear expectations about timelines for our review.

As with every agency, it's about the people. I was impressed by every person I interacted with at Oomph. To a person they were genuinely interested in our collective success. They certainly had the technical skills (which is a given), but to me a successful client partnership requires a shared commitment to success.

I can't think of anything specific offhand.
