Introduce your business and what you do there.

We’re a fundraising, communications, and analytics consulting firm serving the nonprofit sector. I’m a VP at the firm and a product owner of one of our software solutions.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with One World Coders?

We created an MVP of a fundraising planning tool for our users. They helped us with both front- and backend development, bringing greater strength to the structure of the platform.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The final tool has planning and tracking capabilities as well as insights into an understanding of capacity for fundraising groups. They were responsible for increasing the speed of the final product. The product imports data through a custom API connection to a specific database. In addition to increasing the speed of that solution, they boosted the efficiency in the calculations that are part of the analysis that’s written into the tool. 

In terms of the frontend work, there was a fair amount of collaboration on ideas. They came up with about half of our solutions, and we worked together to implement them most effectively. The product was built using Ruby on Rails.

Three teammates worked on our account.

How did you come to work with One World Coders?

We wanted to find a smaller partner that we would be able to work closely with. Another company that we had a relationship with referred us to their CEO.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since April 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The quality of their work has been exceptional. The greatest benefit has been the clarity and transparency of communication. 

How did One World Coders perform from a project management standpoint?

We’ve worked effectively together, using Trello for project management. There’s never been any confusion between their updates and their deliverables. That’s been very helpful in the relationship. We’ve been working directly with the developers, which we’ve preferred to having our communications go through a project manager.  

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their collaborative approach to ideation and solutions has been very effective. They’ve been committed to finding the best path forward for our project.  

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything.

Connect directly with their CEO. They’re a great group to work with.

I’m the CEO and founder of a financial services company called Endorser that works with live entertainment clients.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with One World Coders?

We hired them to help redo our website. We were having some issues with our Google search and other aspects of the site.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Because of our time crunch, we provided them with graphic mockups of the visual identity we wanted and they went forward with the necessary coding and building. Within a few days, their team had us transitioned off of our current provider and fully redid the site on a brand new platform. 

What is the team composition?

I work with around eight people from their team. Doug (Founder) leads the efforts and brings his team on. 

How did you come to work with One World Coders?

I’d known Doug and been a fan of his craftsmanship. We reconnected a few weeks ago so he could educate me on One World Coders and I kept them in the back of my mind. When this project came up, I only had one direction I wanted to go in and that was working with his team because the work that he does and oversees is absolutely outstanding. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since July 2020 and we’re working on a number of other projects with them now. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The biggest metric for me is our traffic. The new website is generating significantly more traffic and is appearing more often in the Google search console. I’m overwhelmed with what they were able to do and the traffic they’re able to drive to my site. 

How did One World Coders perform from a project management standpoint?

They are highly efficient, professional, and communicative. Over the three days that we redid the website, we had stand-up calls with the entire team twice a day. They did outstanding work during that project, pushing the boundaries of the website and questioning me. They meet deadlines and Doug is very hands-on. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

To take us from nothing to a full website within three days is pretty impressive. The team is phenomenal and I have nothing but glowing recommendations for them. They have great leadership and are hungry, which is a great combination to have. Above all, they own their work and what they do.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they’ve checked every box and I have only positive things to say.

I highly recommend working with them. Their work is outstanding and they have the ability to help people.

Coaching in software development best practices and feature delivery.

What were your goals for this project?

Integration with an OEM in the automotive industry by end of year.

Rugamba delivered many of the core components required for certification. As part of the team process he helped clarify requirements and define stories.

What was the team composition?

The team was roughly 12 people including a mix of developers, QA, and business stakeholders.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Rugamba delivered a lot of great work for the team. He was very thorough in testing his code both through automated unit tests and manual testing in his local environment. His last two deliverables (big features that he took on himself and ran with) made it through QA with very minor changes and phase 1 certification (a crucial step to meeting our end of year goal) was a breeze for those. We made more progress as a team than I thought we would and we couldn't have done it without him.
