What challenge were you trying to address with One Team US LLC?

I hired them to support a couple of client projects. One of them was education-based and the other was e-commerce-based. We needed help with some of the development tasks.

What was the scope of their involvement?

For the education-based project, One Team worked on an iPad app. It was a brochure-type product. Their team helped us to create an interactive application for potential students of a university. They built the platform for Android and iOS. Their team also built an interface on the client’s website using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

The second project involved an e-commerce website for phone cards. The site supported an automated process for the end-user to receive digital products. One Team helped to develop backend elements regarding the chat tool. They used .NET.

I worked with 4–6 people from their team. There was always a project manager and at least two developers.

How much have you invested with them?

The cost ranged between $5,000–$25,000 per project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the partnership in November 2012 and worked together on and off until 2019. Usually, the projects took more than six months. We’re actually talking about another project now.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Overall, the quality of their work was good. As with any project, the transition into the scope was an initial challenge. Their team was readily available and responsive.

How did One Team US LLC perform from a project management standpoint?

In some cases, we split their workload into phases. We met regularly and communicated daily via email. They communicated clearly and thoroughly. Their team was always available on Skype and Slack. They met deadlines and managed the projects well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

For us, the time difference was a plus. While they have local teams, their offshore team actually fit our needs better. By sending them tasks overnight, we were able to complete our work the next morning. People might find that challenging, but it worked out for me.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’m satisfied with the engagement but there was a challenge on one project. I felt that one developer wasn’t qualified enough, and they quickly addressed the issue by assigning a more senior developer to the team.

Go for it. With local and offshore teams, they ensure round the clock support.

What challenge were you trying to address with One Team US LLC?

I was having some issues with our previous Magento partner. One Team US LLC has replaced them to become our local e-commerce provider.

What was the scope of their involvement?

One Team US LLC has managed our Magento platform. They’ve tweaked our existing functionalities and freshened up the site’s look and feel. Our original choice for Magento was substantiated on its compatibility with our legacy point of sale (POS) system. Last year, we made the switch to a new POS system, and their team remade the necessary integrations. Then, we later switched to Magento 2 altogether.

What is the team composition?

We work mainly with two people, Raj (CTO) and Robin (Team Lead).

How did you come to work with One Team US LLC?

Chris (Account Manager) happened to reach out to us when we were feeling dissatisfied with our previous Magento provider. We liked the fact that they were local to us. We went to their office and met everybody, and we’ve been working together ever since.

How much have you invested with them?

I believe we’ve spent somewhere around $25,000 over the years. They bill us on a project-by-project basis.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in March of 2016, and it’s an ongoing partnership.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I don’t have any specific metrics. They successfully maintain our robust website, which houses between 10,000–20,000 products for sale.

Since most of our business is in-store and local, we never focused too much on incentivizing online sales. We always thought of our website as a digital storefront that would invite users to actually drop by our store. However, since the COVID-19 shutdowns, we’ve definitely seen a spike in digital sales.

How did One Team US LLC perform from a project management standpoint?

If there’s a concern or problem, I can reach out to them via email or phone and they’ll get back to me right away. They’re able to troubleshoot within a day or two. I’ve always appreciated their responsiveness.

They also do a good job of communicating and collaborating with my third-party contacts who manage the POS system.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I liked how personable and available they were. I could visit their office or have a one-on-one with them since they’re local. They left like a familiar, legitimate company, especially compared to the more suspect providers we’ve worked with, in the past.

They were also extremely conscientious about agreeing on a budget. They broke down all their charges and were transparent about everything they would bill me for. I’m grateful for how easy it is to build trust with them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I don’t think so. I think we’ve had some minor delays in the past due to the fact that some of their employees are based in India. Especially since they interface with our POS system contacts, there’s sometimes extra back-and-forth between the two parties, which can be time-consuming.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I’d recommend them for their personability. A larger company might lack the tailored, customized feel that they have.

I’m the president of a surgical support company.

What challenge were you trying to address with One Team US LLC?

We wanted to manage the internal operations and data input management with outside representatives at hospitals. We also wanted to offer clinicians and patients the ability to enter data, track equipment, and solicit recovery information from the patients after they left the hospital.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They helped us create user interfaces, both patient and clinician, that are run on tablets at hospitals. Patients, anesthesiologists, or nurses will enter data pertinent to the person receiving our equipment and services.

Then, those UIs trigger a patient engagement platform, in the form of an iOS or Android app. Once they download the app, we provide customized profiling, based on the types of procedures those hospitals provided those patients. Then, we interpret that data into some analytical models, by which the clinicians can gauge the efficacy of their therapies.

I found them online, after searching for web app developers in the Detroit area. I sent them all emails, and One Team got back to me the quickest.

I’ve spent around $150,000–$200,000.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

They’re capable of interpreting the languages I’m using correctly and turning it into an end-product in a fairly quick and accurate way. We’re able to track our devices better, too, which saves money. They do a good job, overall.

How did One Team US LLC perform from a project management standpoint?

I provide a comprehensive body of architecture and instruction when I interface with them. My main point of contact then takes that information to the developers and they respond with questions. They get back to me with any questions they might have, and it’s a pretty precise process. We collaborate using GoToMeeting and RingCentral.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The web app industry has a lot of attrition, so it’s great that they’re still here, supporting me, and making good products. They keep their commitments, are fairly accurate with their estimates, and they don’t try to “bait and switch”. Everything is agreed to upfront, and they do a good job of following through.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, the only thing I could think of is bringing on more people to do my projects simultaneously. That being said, I’m pretty satisfied with the pace they’re moving at.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice is to follow my procedure. I’ll share a verbal idea, then we’ll discuss the goals of that idea, then I’ll provide something tangible to move forward on the development, that’ll be discussed internally by their group. They’ll respond with questions, which I’ll answer, and then they’ll develop a prototype. I’ll comb through that prototype and offer them the changes that they need to make. Finally, we’ll go live.

I am the CTO of a company that provides software innovation for up, middle, and downstream oil and gas companies.

What challenge were you trying to address with One Team US?

We partnered with them to create three different products that we wanted to build out for some of our clients.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The products we worked on with them included an augmented reality application for a hospital to supplement the physical therapy process most veterans go through when they come back from war. It allows the PT team to walk their clients through a variety of real-life situations in a safe environment before sending them out into the real world.

The other was a product known as pocket dispatch. In the simplest words, the app was a version of Uber for trucks. The software is aimed at replacing the bidding process for large manufacturers to find companies to haul their products wherever they're supposed to go.

For each of these projects, we started from scratch with their teams, providing the funding and the basic set of requirements from our clients and then working with them to develop mobile apps that could completely serve those needs. Those have taken advantage of a wide range of technologies including Java, API integrations with Microsoft’s Oracle database and other suites, and external protocols that need to communicate with our database.

What was the team composition?

They have a development center in India as well as a program office with project specialists in Detroit who coordinate the work with us. The total team size has varied, but at one point we had 17 people working from India on the projects.

How did you come to work with One Team US?

I used to be the lead architect at another company and had worked with several other individuals on a software development project there who were part of One Team. When this came up, I contacted them and asked them if they had the capacity for the work because I knew they would do a good job. We still conducted an RFP, but their proposal was highly competitive, so we moved forward with them.

In total, the projects have cost us about $1.2 million over the years.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve worked with them on a few major projects over the course of the past 7 years, starting probably around July 2013 and continuing today for maintenance of the products.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The quality of their work is extremely good. They are a skilled team and take a very thorough approach to every aspect of the work, including not only the functionalities that are required but also the designs and UI/UX of the applications.

The AR/VR application is now used across one of the major hospital organizations in the state of Michigan, and the shipping app has ten small scale users and four major users which is an even better result than we were hoping for.

How did One Team US LLC perform from a project management standpoint?

It has been an incredibly good working relationship. Sometimes when you are a new customer working with an outsourced team it can be difficult, but their project manager was excellent at setting up the relationship and making sure that we understood what they needed from us and they understood all of our requests to them so that there were no miscommunications.

The agile process that they utilize has worked very well, and they always do a good job of sticking to the deadlines that we give them, which is important for our investors in particular. We are able to give them the requirements and budget and know that we will get a product that works for our needs.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their flexibility is a huge asset to our overall collaboration with them. I’ve frequently called them late at night or without giving them advance notice and they are always available to handle whatever request I might have or shift any of the requirements depending on what we need.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Everyone has room for improvement, but there’s nothing major that I would complain about with them. Occasionally their use cases for the project research can get too detailed, so we could work on getting those out a little bit quicker, but it hasn’t caused us any serious problems.

Transparency is always key. As long as they know exactly what you’re looking for, they will be able to fulfill those needs for you.

My main job is a firefighter-paramedic. I like to work on projects on the side, and I thought of an idea for how to better help healthcare providers during a medical emergency. The startup is called Emergency Medical Form, and I’m the founder and president.

I wanted to develop an app and website that could store basic patient information like address, height, weight, age, and more. Users would be able to go online and fill out the form in advance, so that first responders and hospital workers would already have the information on file, rather than having to ask the patient the same questions.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I had a basic version developed by another vendor. However, there were a lot of bugs, so it wasn’t ready to be launched for public use. They handed over all the credentials and I shopped around to find a more experienced development team in the area. 

They helped fix the code and make the solution more functional. We also added more features over time, and they provided continuous updates.

The CTO is my main point of contact, but there are 2–3 additional developers that are helping me. The CTO delegates the work to developers in his Michigan office and overseas.

We started working together in 2017, and our work is ongoing.

All the bugs that were present before I started working with them have been fixed. I’ve seen a tremendous improvement in the functionality of the solution. As a result, more people are downloading the app.

They perform well. I’m very happy with them. I could easily schedule a time to meet with them in person. They provided estimates for each feature that I wanted to add or update, to accommodate my budgetary constraints.

They believed in what I was doing and were accommodating to my needs. They’re a reputable company, rather than an individual coder, so it’s nice to have the organizational structure.

They do exactly what I ask, so if I’m not specific about what I want, we sometimes have to go back and change things again.

It depends on what you’re working on and what you want. It’s important to be direct and explain exactly what you want. When you provide designs or content, make sure you’ve finalized it and have it exactly how you want it to look.
