We are the Costa Rican company expert in the adoption and acceleration of the use of cloud technologies. Since 2001 we have been developing technological solutions for public and private companies with professionals, with important certifications. It represents and maintains partnerships with leading industry brands such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Oracle, and Red Hat, among others. My position is Sales Director

Developing Java applications with high-level resources for a public sector client

How did you select this agency and what were the deciding factors?

We made an alliance with Novacomp to attend this project, based on the experience and availability of resources

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

The project lasted a year, during which it was sought to do the development of the applications. For this, developers with the knowledge of the latest versions of Java were required, so the resources should have experience to start immediately. The work team was in charge of the project manager in the final client and advances were delivered every week in the execution bitacoras to comply with the schedules.

Describe the recruitment process in detail.

There was a profile defined in the requirements of the final client to whom we gave the service, the recruitment process was completely commissioned by Novacomp. It included looking for the roles in the Costa Rican market, doing the interviews and selection tests. Soon the vacancies were completed and the hiring proceeded.

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?

It was possible to put the applications into operation and the improvements to the existing platform. The whole project is functional and the end customer is satisfied.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very effective because they use agile methodologies common to us, and we work on weekly deliveries to control the implementation and proactively identify problem areas or that would need more resources.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

It is a Costa Rican company that contributes to the growth of the country, we have a good business relationship and has transcended to generate a relationship beyond the professional. They were always willing to support us in whatever we need.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We are interested in the way that they always receive feedback and apply the improvements to the services. Now we have a market situation because there is a lot of demand for resources for development and the offers that come out of the academy are exhausted.

We are a Colombian who provides a complete range of engineering solutions in measurement equipment, metrological control, industrial instrumentation, maintenance and consulting in a comprehensive management system and calibration laboratories. My rol is marketing manager.

For what projects/services did your company hire Novacomp?

We needed to find iOS and Android developers to work on some implementations for our website, in order to launch new services for our customers.

How did you select this agency and what were the deciding factors?

I asked for recommendations to my colleagues and they suggested Novacomp because it is easy to hire and provide a good service.

We made several changes to our website, in order to provide a better communication channel to our customers, however we needed knowledge about iOS and Android in order to connect our Wordpress platform with new widgets that will bring data from existing customers to access a new education page. Once we identified the request, we search for options to resolve this, and the more suitable in timing and pricing was the staff augmentation service.

Then we started the hiring process and with the help of Novacomp the two resources were onboard 5 weeks after our first call. At the begining we signed a 6 month contract, but we hired an additional month to achieve some functionabilities that we forecasted for 2022. The deployment was easy and fast, since the developers team were senior and with their experience they deployed the project according to our needs.

We first discussed our project with our account manager, going over the key skills we were looking for and he helped us to complete the profile based on previous experiences. Based on that, they shortlisted 4 candidates for us to interview. We gave each of them 2 interviews, one of them with our CTO and hired 3 resources.

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?

We acomplished the funtionalities for 2021 and Q1 2022 on the 7 months of our work with Novacomp, earlier than expected and with few intervention from us. It allow us to focus on more strategic time for our marketing plan.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Since Novacomp uses agile methodologies we establish 2-week sprints and checkooints with them to provide follow up of the project.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

It was very easy to hire them, they understand our requirements, our capabilities and our limitations. It is very grateful that Novacomp as provider adjust to every company´s need, we are in another country, but we felt that the entire team was next to us.

I am an IT Director in the international department and we offer personal protection products to our customers. Our company has close to 2,000 employees and we focus on good customer service.

NovaComp was selected to provide staff augmentation for the IBMi platform, providing enhancements a new features for our Health platform.

What were your goals for this project?

The goal is to enhance the system for the Caribbean market, and to meet the regulatory needs for the Latin American and Caribbean region.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

NovaComp was well recommended, and was able to provide the essential bi-lingual resources, who had experience with the IBMi platform quickly that we required. Also, their nearshore presence was desirable. The cost was a factor, and the company was flexible with the type of contract we needed.

Describe the project in detail.

The vendor assigned a very professional rep to our account, and the team was formed. Because the staff was experienced in the platform, the on-boarding did not take long. The staff worked with our analyst and lead developers to understand our standards, and work on requirements for the new territory. 

Involving customer output, and modification to the Health system were made to be able to process the business. The 2nd phase of the project involved enhancement to meet new regulations throughout the territories.

What was the team composition?

A lead developer and a team of analyst worked with the vendor staff reviewing the requirements, and understanding the design of the system.

The complexity of the region posed some challenges, but the vendor developers put the extra effort to meet the deadlines. For the 2nd phase of the project, the team used the agile scrum method to address new user stories.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

At the end of the first phase, all the business was able to be migrated to the corporate system, and we were able to decommission the old system. In doing so, our company was able to reduce complexity.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The fact that the vendor staff was bi-lingual, it made it possible to interact not only with our developers and analyst better, but they could read the requirements in the native language and ask pertinent questions.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The vendor is very flexible, and will work out problems we encountered quickly. Their management of hours and billing detail is excellent. They worked with us to help with a strict security and procedural processes we required.

Vendor can work on setting a internal program to periodically meet with staff and support them with their professional growth.
