We partnered with Notum Technologies to build the MVP for our platform, Fanfluence, a fintech product operating at the intersection of the creator economy and fan-powered investing. The scope of the project included full-stack development of a web application that allows content creators to launch fundraising campaigns and fans to invest in a creator’s future income.

Key deliverables included:

Platform Architecture & Backend Development: Notum set up a robust backend infrastructure, handling data security, user authentication, payment integrations, and campaign logic.

Frontend Development: They implemented a clean and intuitive UI that allows both creators and investors to navigate and use the platform with ease.

Admin Dashboard: A backend dashboard for internal operations, including campaign approval, performance monitoring, and transaction oversight.

Third-Party Integrations: Setup and integration with payment providers and external APIs to support campaign payouts and data validation.

Ongoing Support: Notum provided dedicated support during our testing phase, including bug fixes, UX refinements, and technical consulting.

Overall, I was very satisfied with the collaboration. If there’s one area for improvement, it would be enhancing proactive communication during certain decision-making stages. There were moments where I would have appreciated a bit more pushback or suggestions for alternative approaches earlier in the process.

That said, whenever feedback was shared, they were quick to adapt and very open to adjusting the process. I believe this is more about fine-tuning an already strong working relationship than a major shortcoming.

It was a learning platform for a Swiss corporate customer. We hired Notum for their experience in Strapi CMS which we selected for this project. They gave us the estimates they committed themselves to and split the project into 2-week sprints with a demo at the end of each sprint. They communicated directly with the client, developed MVP fast for the client to test and then continued delivering more features. They tested the application, helped with deployment and were responsive to customer feedback even after deployment.

We cooperated with NOTUM to create two databases for IFES with the following deliverables: 

1. Create the structure of the two DBs, including the back-end for data entry/updates and the nice-looking front-end for users, with a possibility to change the front-end text/graphics 
2. Upload the data into the DBs (the data will be available in DOCX or XLSX format, and IFES will be able to restructure the data format to some extent to assist uploading) 
3. Upload texts provided that explain the motivation behind the DBs, methodology etc. (texts will be provided by IFES). 
4. Provide system for IFES to easily and independently update the DBs after launch (see “Update approach” below). It is acceptable if both databases are stored in the same system, if that allows for easy post-launch editing 
5. Arrange hosting of DBs, including securing domain names as discussed and on behalf of IFES and deployment of the databases to the server. Costs, copyright and hosting of hosting and domain will be covered by and belong to IFES 
6. Provide a system for users to download data in CSV and/or XLS(X) format 
7. Add branding to DBs, as provided by IFES 8. Assist in adding of an SSL certificate and other security functionality as discussed with IFES 9. Providing detailed documentation of the product.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

deployment of databases including the functionalities that we needed both databases to have. The most important outcomes for us was to be able to update databases after their launch by ourselves as well as being able to do any changes to the substantive part of the databases after they were deployed. We also valued the communication with NOTUM that was always very professional and ready to jump on the call if we needed immediate help.

The delivery was pushed by couple of weeks, however the delay was on our side rather than on NOTUM's side. As i mentioned previously, the communication was very efficient and professional. We set up a regular meetings where we discussed issues and way forward. Also, in case we needed ad hoc assistance, NOTUM always tried to accommodate our needs.

In 2020 we built terapie.cz together as an MVP. The work was done fast in agreed budget. The MVP quickly took off and after continous support for 3 years we decided to revamp the portal into a more robust, less MVP version. Their involvement focused on modernizing the Terapie.cz Portal by implementing new technologies to improve its speed and efficiency. 

This included addressing existing technological challenges and ensuring scalability to accommodate a growing user base. They transitioned from Vue + Nuxt to React, Next with static generation, and Tailwind CSS, enhancing the technological framework. Additionally, they simplified responsivity and upgraded Strapi from version 3 to version 4.

Aligning the app with modern standards, speeds up the whole website (API calls 450% faster, total blocking time reduced to 0ms, faster building and loading, better web vitals. Stability and monitoring 99.9% uptime. Assurance that we don’t have an MVP but a solid foundation that we can scale on for the future.

Additionally, the web app provided clients with the ability to manage channels, such as Favi, Biano, Glami, and others, by setting targets and monitoring the performance of their ad spend and revenue. The final product successfully integrated our algorithmic bidding solution for product search engines and marketplaces, helping our clients optimize their product listings and achieve better profitability.

I’m the CEO of ARBO Technologies, a forest-based care startup. We’re developing a solution for collecting and evaluating data on trees growing in cities and landscapes. This is one of several solutions we're developing to help tree specialists better assess their data.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Notum Technologies is developing a mobile app for data collection and also a web application for ordering reports. In addition, they're creating our database and everything that supports the data. We have our own backend team for the hardcore calculations and 3D modeling of the trees.

Notum is using React Native for both iOS and Android. Notum is also helping us with project management; they manage both their developers and our backend developers. They’re also helping us in deploying the application with DevOps, handling the development of new features.

We work one senior developer for consulting, one general developer, a junior development resource, a senior and a junior project manager, and one tester.

We've known each other for a long time.

We've been working together since April 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We started the product from scratch, so there aren't any direct KPIs. We’re currently in beta mode with our customers, and I've been quite impressed with the speed of some features and bug fixes that Notum has implemented right away. There have been some setbacks, but that’s always the case with custom software development.

How did Notum Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management is good. If they don't meet a deadline, it's because there are technology challenges we didn't know about beforehand. They communicate clearly from the beginning and stay within budget. We have regular standup meetings and interact using Jira and Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The solution is made up of 5–6 applications working together; it's a very complicated project. Notum proactively comes up with new ideas of how to develop these solutions. More importantly, these solutions always benefit us, rather than themselves. I really like that they're part of our team.
