We partnered with the NIKA team for a website redesign, and they exceeded our expectations. Our goals included updating top-level navigation, streamlining our WordPress backend, developing an interactive solutions map, creating a custom HubSpot blog, standardizing page templates, enhancing galleries for photos and videos, and designing new page layouts. Most importantly, we needed expert project management to keep everything on time and within budget. As we wrap up, we couldn’t be happier. I was most impressed with how hands-on and responsive the Nika team was. We had formal rounds of design and implementation in place, but the team was also available and responsive whenever we had questions or needed to make changes. Despite the fact that we work on a complex technology, they were able to grasp our needs quickly and implement changes for an updated website of excellent quality.

Sometimes, it wasn't clear what the division of labor was like at Nika, so I wasn't always sure who to direct questions to, but Nika sorted everything out very quickly.

We approached Nika with a general brief and website outline. From this, they proposed a few high level mockups. We downselected, and started passing along copy and graphical assets to be placed in the templates. As pages were content completed, they moved to a development environment. We reviewed the final design in a staging environment before everything was pushed live.

When we first met Nika Digital Agency, we were in need of help creating a website for our business. Our previous site was outdated and needed to be completely rebuilt. Together our team created something that not only turned out better than expected but also captured the essence of what this company stands. They started by exploring the brand, then creating wireframes and each page meticulously making sure each page had a layout that accomplished what the sections needed to showcase, and then upon approval moved to program the site.

They processed everything with a 30-point check and balance system with their team to make sure there were no errors. Upon approval, we went live. The best part was the passionate service and innovation while staying true to our brand at all times. The end result? An innovative WordPress site designed by someone who really gets it.

While we could always want a project to go faster, that isn't necessarily the best way as the quality would have suffered. For that reason we were happy with the entire project.

We had some challenges with online advertising, specifically on Google.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Nika Digital Agency manages all our online ads on Google. They make sure the leads are coming in, and the team improves the campaigns and checks we’re not overspending. In the beginning, they took over our daily tasks because they had to fix what was already done. Once they set it up, they taught us how to inform them of changes and things we need to accomplish with the campaign.

Once a year, we have a meeting to review the year's goals from our perspective. Then, they advise us on what we can and cannot do. Once every quarter, they send a detailed review of the campaign, and we also get monthly and quarterly reports.

Additionally, they’ve helped with some display campaigns, providing samples and insights so our graphic designer could do the display ads.

We initially worked with a couple of people, but Ali (Founder & CEO) is our main point of contact. We also work with someone else depending on what we need to do.

We found them online on Google, and our goal was to find a local agency. They were in San Jose, so they were pretty close to us. They were one of the first companies to respond, and we needed someone on top of everything. The next day, we drove there and had our first meeting. They had a presentation ready with all the improvements we could make to the current campaign and in the next six months. Also, they went over the website and checked everything was fine.

How much have you invested with them?

We pay $1,250 per month. In total, we’ve spent $60,000 in four years.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in August 2018, and our relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We track our monthly and quarterly metrics, and Nika Digital Agency has been able to increase the leads we get from Google, which is what we want. Moreover, they’ve managed to get a lot out of our budget, considering that Google Ads’ pricing keeps going up. Since we depend 100% on Google to generate leads, we have no complaints. We’re happy with their services; they’ve been great. We’ll continue working with them.

How did Nika Digital Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

They meet deadlines and always recommend where to allocate our budget. We pay them a fixed amount of money; they haven’t increased it in four years. 

For project management, we use a simple spreadsheet where we can adjust the budgets. Every time we need changes, we just email them. They make the changes quickly, in 1–2 days.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re a professional agency. They know what they’re doing.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They delivered good reports in the beginning, but a year and a half ago, they automated them. The quality of the reports went down; we didn’t have a metric we needed. After two months, we told them about it, and they immediately changed it. Right now, we don’t need more changes.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

You need to know what you want to do with Google Ads. Before we started, we worked on a campaign for a year. Based on that, we gave Nika Digital Agency many ideas of where we wanted to go. Since they’re an established company, I don’t think they’d work with someone who doesn’t have a budget or a base idea of what they need.

Nika Digital Agency first built a one-page website with some early renderings of our truck and basic information about the company. We then worked with them over the next couple of months to develop the complete website, which we have now.

They utilized a sketch I created to flesh out the basic wireframe, provided five different thematic concepts, and implemented features and functionalities.

Metrics aren’t a driving factor for our business, but we’ve had a lot of positive feedback from customers, and the website generally impresses everyone who visits it.

They completed the quality website as quickly as possible, which was really helpful, and I feel like we’ve gotten a fair value for what we asked of them.

We were rebuilding our website, which was a B2B and B2C informational and transactional e-commerce website. We didn’t have the resources to rebuild and redesign the site on our own, so we brought in Nika Digital Agency. Since then, our partnership has expanded and they’ve worked on several sites for us.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Shortly after we rebuilt our first website, we were looking to launch another arm of our site, which was strictly informational. They collected our information, our copy, and our business knowledge before developing our second platform. Then they continued to work with us on maintenance issues.

After we were acquired, Nika Digital Agency helped consolidate several brands by developing a new website that could encompass everything we needed on one platform as well.

Ali (Founder & CEO) and Ayman (Managing Partner) were our two contacts at Nika Digital Agency. They receive feedback and share those comments with the rest of the development team. Now that our website is off the ground, we’re working with other folks as well.

We first spoke to our SEM agency and asked for recommendations. They put us in touch with Nika Digital Agency, and then we went through a standard RFP. We established a scope of work and negotiated terms to make sure everything was going to work out for both parties.

We started working together in March 2017 and they continue to work on various projects with us.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

They developed a helpful and useful website. We’ve received comments from customers on the visual aspect of our site; they think it really looks nice.

Right after we were required, our new head of marketing was really impressed by the website’s layout. They appreciated how everything was organized, how streamlined it was, and how easy it was to use. As a result, our new partners decided to bring them on to work on more projects as well.  

They did a great job; they were a great partner to work with. They were very consultative and instructive. They used their expertise when they needed to, but they also listened to us when we had strong opinions, especially when we identified what we wanted to focus on or prioritize. They listened to us and weren’t trying to force us to do whatever they thought was best.

How did Nika Digital Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

We use a variety of platforms to share and receive feedback. We communicated through regular meetings, email, Google Slides, Monday, and Adobe XD. We can see mockups of the site and add comments.

For our most recent project, they worked with us on a really tight deadline, even though we had a really fuzzy scope of work.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’ve been extremely flexible and understanding. As everyone who has worked on a project like this before knows, it’s common for the scope to change over the course of the project. While other vendors I’ve worked with have been really resistant to that change, Nika Digital Agency has been forgiving and realistic. They let scope slide a little bit, but let us know if it’s too much and we need to rein things in.

We could have and should have set clearer expectations for some deadlines and communication.
