What challenge were you trying to address with NewAgeSysIT?

We needed help with mobile app development. We used to have a web app, but we decided to make our product into a mobile app because we couldn't localize people on a desktop. I realized we could solve that issue using phones instead.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

NewAgeSysIT has developed our mobile app, which is designed for small businesses to generate leads and create giveaways and digital promotions. The team has built the app for iOS using Swift.

NewAgeSysIT has built six core products within the app, including giveaways, video contests, events, event registration with prize giveaways, raffles, and text-to-win features. The team has also developed three types of surveys: quizzes, polls, and questionnaires with open-ended text responses. 

Additionally, the app has a localization component, and the NewAgeSysIT team has leveraged Apple location services. The app is meant for the largest city in every state and small businesses within it. It ensures that users entering promotions are from the relevant area, so users have to leave their location services on so the app can verify their location. Currently, NewAgeSysIT provides us with app maintenance. Some features of the app aren't live yet.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with around 10 people, including two project managers, a QA team, a frontend developer, a backend developer, and a designer. There’s been some turnover, so the number of people has changed over time.

How did you come to work with NewAgeSysIT?

A NewAgeSysIT teammate I knew reached out to me a few years ago. They were from New Jersey, where I'm from, and we got a good price.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started talking with NewAgeSysIT in 2019 and began development of this project in the spring of 2020. The app was released in 2022, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The quality of work has met our expectations. We have over 100 downloads, but we don’t have any clients yet. The only thing that’s live is the giveaways feature. The other features aren’t live yet, and the app is only available in 21 states.

How did NewAgeSysIT perform from a project management standpoint?

NewAgeSysIT delivers work on time and within budget. Eldho is a great communicator. We track everything in spreadsheets, so there’s no ambiguity around what’s being worked on. We communicate about things we’ve tested, bugs, and issues. We’ve caught almost everything in the test flight. We use Microsoft Teams for communication and documentation.

I would like to give a shout-out to Eldho. He’s been with me since the beginning, and he’s my main project lead. He’s been the quarterback of the project.

What did you find most impressive about them?

NewAgeSysIT is very good at execution.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could improve on QA. They miss things, whether it’s spelling mistakes or certain UX things that may be obvious to us but not so obvious to them, given our cultural differences. I catch a lot of things that may seem obvious, but they fix them quickly. They don’t miss things the second time around. Plus, errors never get released to the public because we test everything.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Bring requirements to NewAgeSysIT. Don’t just wing it or make up requirements as you go. I had my requirements before I walked in the door, so I knew exactly what we were building.

I’m the owner of Kennaco Assets LLC, a company that creates websites and mobile apps for various businesses I own, mostly in the entertainment industry. Guaranteed Tipsheet is one of these companies.

I needed a fresh website for Guaranteed Tipsheet. In addition to needing a website refresh and update, I also needed support to design and develop mobile apps.

What was the scope of their involvement?

NewAgeSysIT has helped me with the Guaranteed Tipsheet's website. Another team worked on the site initially, and I wasn't pleased with the outcome. NewAgeSysIT came behind and cleaned it up quite a bit.

For the mobile app, I gave NewAgeSysIT the website and told them I needed the same functionality in a mobile version. The team was responsible for the app's design and development. NewAgeSysIT has used React to build the mobile app with all the functionality I required.

Since the app's first launch, NewAgeSysIT has upgraded it 3–4 times to newer technology, a newer design, and a refresh. The app works on iOS and Android devices. NewAgeSysIT also provides maintenance and updates according to Apple and Android requirements.

I found NewAgeSysIT on Guru. I posted a job for the website and the mobile app projects and received several quotes. NewAgeSysIT's company stood out because their price was good compared to others who wanted more money for the same work.

NewAgeSysIT has built exactly what I've asked them. The team has always been good about coming back to me, and if I don't like a deliverable or want to change something, I let them know. NewAgeSysIT doesn't complain or charge me more for the changes. We have various projects coming up soon, and they've just completed a project two weeks ago.

How did NewAgeSysIT perform from a project management standpoint?

NewAgeSysIT does an excellent job with project management. The team communicates very well with me, and we have a good understanding of each other. It took a little while to get there because of a language barrier, but the lead developer speaks good English and understands everything I ask for.

We primarily communicate via Skype and do voice calls over Skype whenever we have an ongoing project. We meet each time NewAgeSysIT reaches a milestone or if they have any questions or concerns. Otherwise, we meet after we reach a milestone and ensure everything is okay before we move on to the next milestone.

What did you find most impressive about them?

NewAgeSysIT keeps up with new technology. Technology changes very quickly, especially in the mobile world. Every time I receive an email from Android or Apple, I immediately go to NewAgeSysIT, and the team gets right on it and uses the newest tools and languages, so I don't run into the same problem again six months later.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can't think of any improvement areas for NewAgeSysIT; everything I've done with them has succeeded. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure that you have a clear vision of what you want. Even if it's not a design, as long as you know what you want your product or service to do, that’s helpful for NewAgeSysIT. If you have any design mock-ups or recommendations, it would be very helpful for NewAgeSysIT to take that and turn it into something much faster.

You don’t want NewAgeSysIT to research a bunch of things about your project because that will prolong the process. The engagement will be easier if you communicate everything you want going into the project so they can take it and run with it.

When we started, we tried to advertise the app to get the tool in the hands of clinicians. We’ve grown to almost 8,400 downloads and are hoping to do more. Overall, NewAgeSys IT has been available through all the steps.

They’ve delivered on time. Everything has been upfront, so there are no surprises. We like that they only charge money after each part of the project is completed, and then they move to the next portion.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m new to app development, so it’s an entirely different language from wound care and nursing. NewAgeSys IT has been very patient and available. They always get back to me if I send an email with a question, concern, or clarification.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything offhand. There’s a good time difference, so sometimes it might be early in the morning. However, they accommodate, so it’s not a problem.

I recommend having their contact information and asking questions as they come along. Don’t be afraid to reach out and keep an ongoing communication.

I'm a children's artist who has been in the music business for 40 years under the name of The Donut Man, referring to a puppet of a talking donut. I create Christian music for children inspired by stories in the Bible.

I was very successful 30 years ago in bookstores and sold many cassettes and CDs. However, CDs are outdated, and musicians must have digital platforms to reach the audience. I wanted to create a mobile application to reach parents and children with my music and offer Christian education.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

NewAgeSys IT has developed an iOS and Android application for me. Initially, I had several technical questions addressed by NewAgeSys IT's team. The team provided me with an initial quote that I accepted, along with the project's timelines. The app contains dozens of albums and songs I had already recorded, and the team has integrated my existing music and YouTube videos and categorized them for different types of teachers and audiences. 

NewAgeSys IT has created pointers in the app using my YouTube videos' URL so that when users click on a song, the source of information comes directly from YouTube, and the videos aren't stored in the app. I had many gigabytes of material already uploaded on my YouTube channel. NewAgeSys IT has connected the app with YouTube, and users can also search for it on YouTube. 

The team has designed screenshots for me to work on the app's dashboard since there are some aspects I didn't understand at first. NewAgeSys IT tutors and mentors me on the technical aspects of app development, guiding me through the different security levels throughout the development. I subscribed to AWS and paid for the iOS app development software, but I had to issue permissions for NewAgeSys IT to use the software since we're located in different countries.

Over the last five years, there have been 5–7 new releases of both iOS and Android systems, and NewAgeSys IT has updated my app to ensure it continues functioning. Otherwise, the app would've faltered with every iOS improvement. NewAgeSys IT manages the security specifications of each update since all iOS and Android apps must comply with the system's security protocols. 

I have an annual maintenance contract with the team, and whenever I need a significant rebuild, NewAgeSys IT creates a different budget for it.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

NewAgeSys IT has developed an app that exceeds my expectations. The app loads my videos and songs quickly and functions appropriately. The team stays on top of all new iOS releases and nuances to keep the app functioning. The app plays songs without delay and looks beautiful. Whenever we experience issues, NewAgeSys IT works until they fix them.

The app has 2.5 million users worldwide, and my YouTube channel has grown to 225,000 monthly users. NewAgeSys IT has successfully managed my vast library of songs and videos, which I find remarkable. I have a stronger relationship with my user base as a result of this engagement. 

How did NewAgeSys IT perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate with NewAgeSys IT via FaceTime, email, and phone calls. We've fixed a time to have a call whenever I need to share verification codes with the team so they can use my software accounts. Initially, I didn't realize how important it was to keep my phone on in case NewAgeSys IT needed to reach me. The team has adapted to my schedule, and I'm amazed at how patient the team is in helping me and maintaining our business relationship. 

NewAgeSys IT has different ways to reach me, and if I miss a phone call, they send an email or leave a voice mail. NewAgeSys IT answers my difficult questions and sends screenshots when I need to understand their work.

What did you find most impressive about them?

One of our biggest difficulties has been going through the different security levels since I'm located in the US and NewAgeSys IT is located in India. I've had to go through various verification steps so it wouldn't seem like a suspicious activity to third-party services. NewAgeSys IT has been patient in following third-party protocols and helping me understand the process since I don't have a technical background. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I've asked NewAgeSys to monitor my website and tell me when it is down; however, I'm the one who monitors the site and brings issues to the team's attention. I admit it's more my responsibility to monitor my site, not NewAgeSys IT. The latest update the team has implemented is that the app self-monitors itself to detect when there is an issue. Before, I had to monitor the iOS app and ask my daughter to monitor the Android app since I don't have an Android device.

I suggest potential customers leverage NewAgeSys IT's mentoring skills and learn from their technical expertise.

They respect the project timeline and deliver when they promise nine out of 10 times. If they don’t, they give ample notice and tell us why it’ll take longer.

We have weekly calls to ask questions about the app.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re super professional. The team gets things done on time and stays within budget. In our case, they’ve worked with us on the pricing. If we can’t pay upfront, they break it down into increments. Overall, NewAgeSys IT has been amazing. They’ve done some tasks for us without charging. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could improve on marketing. They could be a one-stop shop if they had a marketing department. However, that’s not a deal breaker.

Another thing is that some of their developers are based overseas, so there’s a time difference. Our meetings are generally in the morning, and it’s night for them. Nonetheless, they stay up and are never asleep; it’s just the time lag.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be transparent with what you want. NewAgeSys IT does exactly as you ask, whether it’s detrimental or favorable to the app. Although they have industry knowledge on what would or wouldn’t work, I recommend telling them you need help if you don’t know what you’re doing.

What was the scope of their involvement?

NewAgeSys IT has developed our mobile application for iOS and Android from scratch using Native React. The first steps were a consultation and discovery phase. Since we didn’t know how to develop applications, we counted on them to translate the technical language and some of the complexities of the development work. Throughout this phase, they gave us good ideas on what could be done with our vision. 

One of the main features is the ability for the customer to create their scheduling options for their car repair through the app, so it’s super convenient. The next core feature allows users to schedule when and where to pick up their car after the repair is done. Finally, the third core feature is the proprietary status section that gives people complete transparency and real-time updates on every transaction that happens with their car repair.

We get new app installs every day. Moreover, the quality of NewAgeSys IT’s work is excellent. The application’s backbone, frontend, and backend are of the highest quality, and the app is really stable, functional, and customizable.

They’ve met every deadline and stayed on budget on every project. We communicate through email and virtual meetings.

They aren’t necessarily the most or least expensive, but for what they do and how well they communicate, we value using their service.

Communicate as thoroughly as possible. One of the challenges anytime you’re developing an application or website is that you’re trying to bring an idea to life and get it to work.
