After the discovery meeting and email correspondence with further details about the company, project goals, and existing brand information, New Light Digital proposed a design for the main website. (For the course website, we still needed to see if the course delivery platform, Thinkific, would allow for the degree of customization we wanted.) We suggested some tweaks, but the original design was already excellent. New Light Digital was incredibly quick and wonderfully patient with some delays that came entirely from our end. Over the course of three months, the full corporate website was designed and built, and the course website was brought fully into alignment design-wise and integrated with the corporate website—something we had doubted would be possible to the extent that we wanted.

Once I decided on one of their existing templates, Daniel sent me some links and examples of other sites that he had designed. I liked one particular look that he did, but it was not customized for a photographer. After that, we talked about how he could make it fit with my image and profession. I do a lot of behind-the-scenes types of video work, and I wanted to make sure that could be displayed on my site. 

I wanted them to make sure the site was user-friendly for my external stakeholders. Daniel also walked me through how to access the functions and features on my site. They now provide additional support such as SEO services.

Daniel is really helpful. Whenever I ask him for changes, it is usually done within 24 hours. We use Zoom and phone calls to communicate. Most of the time, we do screen sharing and that has been very helpful during moments when I needed to learn how to do things on the backend of WordPress. He really makes sure I understand what is going on.

Their customer service really stands out. Even though I had my doubts about them being overseas, they have been doing great and exceeding my expectations.

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the owner of a private equity firm. Our mission is to directly source undervalued institutional quality private investment opportunities and syndicate to investors.

For what projects/services did your company hire New Light Digital, and what were your goals?

Our website was created by a group with very little experience. We struggled with it both in terms of functionality and design. We hired New Light Digital to revamp it. The goal was to get a fresh, unique design that looked professional and modern.

By doing this, we were hoping to increase our traffic substantially by end of year. Also we wanted to ensure that existing clients and partners saw our website and got reassured that they made the right decision.

How did you select New Light Digital and what were the deciding factors?

We searched for competent web developers who also had a good design eye. We had shortlisted about 4 firms, and eventually chose this vendor based on their past projects, very good eye, and good price-quality ratio.

We had a kick-off meeting to discuss goals and expectations. From there, the team delivered the wireframes, design mock-up, and finally the developed site on a test server. We got to provide feedback every step of the way, and the team at New Light Digital went above and beyond to address every one of our needs and any issues we identified were fixed quickly.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We worked with the owner of the agency, Daniel. But I know that there were several people working behind the scenes. All communication was quick and to the point, which was appreciated.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

After launching our site, we saw immediate results. Our organic search traffic has jumped 44% over the previous month, and it has been growing since. Clients and existing partners love the new design, we get compliments all the time, particularly on how much easier it is to navigate and find things on the new site.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.

We used text and phone calls for all communications. This proved to be very efficient. Even though they are based abroad, it really felt like they were next door. Daniel has an active US phone number, and his English is spotless. So we understood each other very well.

I've particularly enjoyed how responsive they were. In my previous experience, it would take people at least one or two days to hear back from them. With Daniel it was almost instant (the latest we ever heard back from them was the following morning, due to the time difference). Overall, a very good experience.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The problem-solving skills were very impressive. They did not let anything fester, and addressed all issues head-on. This was appreciated, because we didn't have experience in this process, so the extra attention was welcome. They explained everything very clearly, and even jumped on screen-sharing calls to show us how certain things worked with the new website.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We had initially thought that SEO was included in the new website design. Daniel has clarified that some minor SEO is included, but that more extensive SEO would need to be done on a monthly basis.

We've actually signed up for it, and are now implementing a small SEO & Content Marketing program. It works well so far, as the content actually allows us to educate potential clients on our services, and provides an SEO boost. We might add social media to the mix in the future as well.
