New Evolution Video was selected in a RFP process out of 6 identified service providers. They were selected for the clarity of vision in the proposal and the history of strong deliverables we viewed online. They were sanctioned to shoot a wide variety of clinical education and promotional videos

What were your goals for this project?

The goal was to drive awareness of an unmet medical need in healthcare delivery associated with infection control, and the delivery of the first clinical solution.

How did you select New Evolution Video?

Following requests for proposals, both interviews, NDA's and documents were exchanged. NEV brought the clearest vision and a history of well executed deliverables. They were competitively priced. It was clear that they were the best choice for us.

From concept to screenplay, to on site / in studio shoot, to post editing and deliverables, NEV was fully integrated into the team.

What was the team composition?

Our team interacted with pre-shoot copy editors and screen play writers, we met on site with world class videographers and crew, and interacted routinely in post with a customer service oriented editing and account management team.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

A suite of highly engaging evidence-based medical leaders have been captured for use in education and promotion on the core topics central to our business. A unique video shoot took place in the early stages of COVID-19 in what was my first orientation to a social distanced and safe studio shoot that delivered an highly effective and concise promotional mini-film for educating both the professional and lay community on a new milestone in infection control.

It was, and it remains, excellent.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The seasoned expertise coupled with customer satisfaction edict.

We were very satisfied with the team and the results.

I work for a leadership development consulting agency. We offer leadership development trainings to public sector clients across the state of California.

What challenges were you trying to address with New Evolution Video?

One of our clients hired us to create a series of training videos. We wanted to include live-action footage, but we didn’t have experience with videography, so we brought in New Evolution Video.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We had a video conference call and provided some examples of what we wanted. They worked with our video production vendor who edited the footage and incorporated it into the videos we were making.

I worked with Richard (Owner) and Markus (Associate Producer). 

How did you come to work with New Evolution Video?

Our production vendor recommended them to us. Originally, our production vendor was going to do the videography herself, however, she works remotely, and it didn’t make sense to travel because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, she found us a local videography company. 

How much have you invested in them?

We spent around $3,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We first met with them in July 2020, and the shootings took place that August. It took 1.5 days for them to get all of the footage.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We were happy with the end results and the quality of their work. It met what we were looking for. 

How did New Evolution Video perform from a project management standpoint?

They were fantastic. The process was extremely organized, and they helped us think through what we needed to do to prepare for the shoot. They were also very timely and responsive. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their expertise and knowledge of videography are impressive. I also appreciated their commitment to quality. I never felt like I had to stand up and ask to redo a shot because they were on top of it. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

We haven’t worked with any other videographers, so I don’t have anyone to compare New Evolution Video to. I’m happy with the engagement. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers? 

They’re willing to work with you to prepare for the shoot and make sure you get everything you want. Take advantage of that and don’t be afraid to ask them for help. It’s helpful to create a schedule for the day of the shoot to make sure you get through everything.

I work in project management, engineering and marketing for a technology company that both manufactures and acts as a general contractor.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire New Evolution Video?

The original scope of work was to make a required pre-construction still and video image record of our sprawling job site as required by project specifications. The intent was to make a high-definition record of all on-site infrastructure that were to be affected by our scopes of work.

This also consisted of miles of surface roads and material staging areas. The records had to be of superb quality as we are liable for repairing/re-building anything that might become damaged during our operations to complete the municipal project for the City of Carlsbad, CA.

After great success with that, we decided to expand the SOW with New Evolution Video to include recording various technically challenging site activities as both a training and marketing tool whereby what we do could then easily be translated into understandable imagery.

What were your goals for this project?

Initially to satisfy the contractual requirements of the City, then evolving to development of training and marketing materials.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We canvased the San Diego County area for the best fit drone capable video production company. The person(s) to oversee the on-site filming and post-production editing would need to be very technically minded, creative and able to think fast on their feet with on-going site change dynamics posed by work activities and variable weather conditions (high winds).

Richard Tiland the founder of New Evolution Video got personally involved in answering all of our questions and preparing a proposal. Their proposal/technical acumen impressed us the most. To our knowledge, this type of work using a drone had not been performed before and Mr. Tiland was excited about the challenge.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.

We spent a couple of hours going over our business/technology and prepared general storyboards. Mr. Tiland was not daunted by anything and was able to interact in real-time as there's no script per se for most of this type of work. He became familiar with what we did mostly by witnessing it first-hand and spontaneously, was able to get phenomenal footage.

He needed to be flexible and ready to adapt/switch gears moment by moment at a very active job-site and he worked exceptionally well accepting both technical and artistic direction as well as masterfully dissecting situations on his own. There was never any bickering or feelings hurt/all went smoothly every day that production occurred.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

We have been presented with edited/"catalogued" footage as needed/when needed for our review and presentation to our clients. Missing deadlines was never an issue, we were always well within allotted scheduling. For our current/on-going projects, we receive immediate updates regarding the quality of our footage. We are still in the beginning stages of collecting material. We will work side by side during the editing process.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

At this juncture we can say that the municipality and their quality assurance sub contractors were absolutely floored by the quality of our submitted materials thus far. We received no other comments aside from praise. Actually using a drone and having 4K footage was first for all involved.

It is becoming more and more common for owners/municipalities to require comprehensive high definition still + video footage of job-sites to ensure that no contractor damages have been incurred over the course of work. We decided to to do this with a drone and we saved almost a day of labor in the process.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Phenomenal thus far/no complaints.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They are extraordinarily capable and easy to work with. They have been very flexible and have NOT said NO when crazy work-site scheduling changes have turned things completely upside down. Their response??? Saved our bacon....

Are there any areas for improvement?

Growing pains can hamper a bit at times....Usually that's a good problem.

I’m a partner and co-founder of iConnection. We run spa and wellness events for the Southern California spa industry. Every year we have three networking events with about 150 attendees from the community and about 25 spa vendors.

What challenge were you trying to address with New Evolution Video?

We always need a professional videographer and photographer for our events. New Evolution Video has been working with us to capture these events through photos and videos every year.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Essentially, New Evolution Video takes B-roll footage and take hundreds of photos of our annual events. After they edit the materials, we share it across social media, particularly Facebook, and people tag themselves and their products to promote their businesses. The people and vendors who attend our events use those shots and videos for their own social media purposes.

What is the team composition?

Richard (CEO, New Evolution Video) has sent various photographers and videographers over the years. I’ve met about 6–7 of those teammates throughout our engagement. 

How did you come to work with New Evolution Video?

I’ve known Richard personally for a long time, so when he established New Evolution Video, it was an easy decision to choose them for our needs. I’d already seen his work and the four founders of my company have also known Richard for a while. We trusted him, knew his skill level and attention to detail, so we didn’t even consider any other company.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together on this project since 2010 and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We’ve gotten extremely positive feedback on the photos and videos. Just by looking at our Facebook page, the traffic to all of the photos and videos is clear. Everyone “likes”, tags, shares, and reposts the content across social media. After the events happen, people jump straight to our Facebook page to use them for their own channels. 

How did New Evolution Video perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate by phone, email, text, and in-person. We can give a date and Richard or his teammates will show up for the events. Between 24–48 hours after an event, all of the videos and pictures are uploaded for us to access. Everything is done in a very timely manner. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The great people on their team make them stand out from others in the industry.  Richard knows our project well, so we only need a quick phone call for him to know exactly what to do. After the first time working together, everything just fell into place. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. Going into our tenth year with them, we’re delighted with New Evolution Video and will continue to use them. We have no plans to ever change that as long as we have our events.

I am the global marketing director of Solar Gard. It is a division of Saint-Gobain, a 350-year-old manufacturing conglomerate. Our primary focus is improving comfort and protection through window film and surface protection solutions.

What challenge were you trying to address with New Evolution Video?

We were undergoing a rebranding and a recreation of our message. We wanted to make a video that would help us articulate that.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The video had 4 to 5 different sets. New Evolution Video assisted us with scene location, finding the right spots, and picking actors and actresses. They also helped out with sound, script editing, and workflow. They have helped us brainstorm a few concepts and once we decided on one we liked, we went on to the structuring of the storyboard. From there, New Evolution Video took full responsibility for the direction, production, after production, sound and voiceovers, and so on. We included some graphics and digital effects, predominantly words on the screen, and our logo coming out as a watermark in some areas. Digital effects included putting a grid over windows where our products were displayed. One of the benefits of our products is that they can't be seen. In order to help highlight this, we placed that grid on the covered areas.

We have brought New Evolution Video for a new project consisting of a video explanation of our manufacturing process. New Evolution Video has brought in a different director for it, but I've been equally impressed with the quality of our final product.

How did you come to work with New Evolution Video?

We put together a scope document which was sent out for RFPs. We analyzed multiple potential partners, ultimately selecting New Evolution Video because of their balance between cost and professionalism. They showed some creative feedback for our RFP. We wouldn't have expected to get along as well as we did when we met New Evolution Video face to face, given that we're a corporate organization and they're a creative agency. The team is made up of great people with great ideas.

The cost of New Evolution Video's services has been between $10,000 and $50,000 for both of our projects.

What is the status of this engagement?

The videos have been completed.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

One of our videos was for internal purposes, so I can't provide any statistics for it. It was highly praised internally. It looks like a professional production, which is great. Our next video had a lower cost, but the general impression for it was that we spent a lot more money than we actually did. The quality was there.

How did New Evolution Video perform from a project management standpoint?

New Evolution Video's team was well-organized. They stuck to their promises, met our communication expectations, and performed well. I'd recommend New Evolution Video to anyone.

What did you find most impressive about New Evolution Video from other providers?

New Evolution Video is made up of good people. They made an excellent job of extracting what our real need was and bringing some creativity to help deliver it.

What challenge were you trying to address with New Evolution Video?

We are a technical company and the telecommunications space is very complex. New hires were having a hard time understanding what we do, so we were trying to create a video that explains our company’s services. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I had developed a script which was 18 pages long and they cut that down to 4 pages. From there, we laid out each of the frames, how they were going to flow, and what we were going to represent visually. The video was true animation and they did a phenomenal job with it. We developed the main character before we did the rest of the video. They animated the video according to what we had outlined. We’ve done a range of projects with them since.

How did you come to work with New Evolution Video?

There were 3 other people who had worked on the project before me and I had their referrals. I did an RFP process with 10 different companies. I went through their proposals and what stood out to me from New Evolution was they had really quality and creative work. Because we are a technical company, I was looking for something that was going to bring character to a dry subject. I saw a lot of creativity in what they put together. For the quality of the work that they did, they were at an amazing price point.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

With the latest project, we did an energizing, motivational video for our annual meeting. Everybody loved it and said it would make a great commercial. The original project we did even helped people who have worked here for 5 years understand our business.

They’ve been on time with almost everything. We have open communication. I work directly with Kurt, who’s my primary point of reference. He always returns calls and emails in a timely manner.

When I have a strong vision of what I want to see, they are able to make that happen.

I’ve also given them projects that just have an outline and they were able to work within that framework.

The video editing process was very smooth, timely, and constructive. Richard and his team were very fair about iterations and kept communications frequent. We were able to turn the project around in about a week and had an incredible deliverable at the end.

We created punch lists for review and email threads. Through these channels we were in constant communication and hopped on phone calls as necessary. Again, Richard and team always made time to ensure project was moving in the right direction.
