I am the marketing manager for a commercial refrigeration company. We specialize in process thermal management for different industries, including recreational ice, food and beverage, oil and gas, and manufacturing.

They were originally brought on to redo our company website.

What was the scope of their involvement?

At this point, they have designed and developed both of our websites, the one that we used to use and the one that we migrated to more recently. The sites are in WordPress, and they handled the entire build process, including UI/UX design and adding all of the product pages and user forms.

We don’t have an in-house design team, so since finishing the website they have provided all of the graphics and design work for our website and advertisements on an ongoing basis.

What is the team composition?

My direct contacts are Dmitri (Managing Director) and a couple of his coworkers, but there are about four members of their team working on the project in total.

They were hired long before I started with the company, but I believe my director originally hired them to overhaul the website because of the proposal that they submitted for the project.

How much have you invested with them?

The total cost of our work with them has been around $300,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together for about five years, starting around July 2015 and continuing to this day.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The website work that they’ve done for us has been highly satisfactory, and all of the lead generation tactics that they’ve implemented to get traffic through the site and hopefully gain conversions from that have been successful. Our traffic numbers are up 300–400%, and our leads gained as a result of that have gone up as well.

How did New Design Group Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

They do a good job of communicating with us and staying on top of the project management. They always deliver before deadlines that we give them, despite the fact that we often have up to four different projects going on with them at the same time. Occasionally we will run into a bit of confusion as a result of that, but it has never caused us any major problems.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I really feel like their members are a part of our team. They don’t feel like a vendor to me because they are so easy to talk to and have our best interests at heart. It’s clear that they understand our brand better than anyone and are willing to put in the work to make sure they maintain that deep understanding of who we are as a business and what our goals are.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I honestly don’t have any complaints, because our working relationship with them is very good right now. If there was one thing, I guess it would be nice to have a tracking system so that I can see the progress they’re making on a project, but they’ve never failed to follow through on any deliverables we gave them despite that.

You have to be very clear in your instructions to them because a lot can change in the creative direction of these kinds of projects. The more clearly you communicate your vision, the better they will be able to deliver that to you.

They’ve both redesigned and redeveloped our website for us. A lot of the content was already there on the site, so we updated it. They took us to a new platform and added an easier flow to the site. I deal with Dmitri (Managing Director) a lot and Jack (Vice President) also supports us. There are a couple of people and whenever I need a solution, anyone jumps in to fix it.

We receive feedback on the site consistently. They show us the improvements we’re seeing with people logging on to our website and how the updates are helping the site.

They’re excellent at managing the project. They are great. Whenever I have a problem, Dmitri assigns someone to jump in and fix it. They’re constantly in touch and coming up with a new thought process. Their wheels are turning 24/7.

They’re very hands-on and are always thinking of ways to help promote our firm. They’re continually looking for ways we could be helping our clients on a better level. They care deeply about what they do. They’re very invested in their relationship with our firm and the people on our team. They invest in their own people and company and have a vested interest in their clients.

I can’t think of anything.

They created the website from scratch. We had some ideas about what we were looking for, but they turned our ideas into reality. They used WordPress. The development is complete, but they continue to host the site and provide updates. 

The website also has an online work order system where residents can fill out work requests online.

Dmitry (Director) was our project lead. We worked with Ilya (Management Information Systems Director) on the technical side.

When I was looking around at different websites, and I think I saw one that they had created. I also talked to some of my colleagues about the project.

We spent about $7,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together around late-2014. The website has launched, but the engagement is ongoing. They continue to help us tweak the website and upload new content.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We didn’t have an existing website so we don’t have any analytics to compare their work with. We’re a nonprofit, so I can’t quantify the success based on profit either. However, whenever we have vacancies, we see a spike in website traffic. We also used the website to communicate with our residents during COVID-19 which was helpful.

They provided regular updates and mockups to show us what the website would look like. They’re very responsive anytime I contact them. They complete work quickly and keep our website up-to-date.

We needed web development and digital marketing services.

What was the scope of their involvement?
New Design Group Inc. manages our website and does our SEO, advertisement, and digital marketing; we’re in their hands. We initially designed the website, and then they took over and redesigned it. We requested that they use authentic pictures, not random pictures from the Internet. We provided the content, and they designed the site under our supervision.
They’re currently working on the Black Friday campaign, which is around the corner. We’re targeting young people and people who live in new houses. They’ve also created Facebook and Instagram accounts for us.

They have a whole team of 5–6 people, but we’ve never met them. We do business directly with Dmitri (Director).

My manager was the one who dealt with them.

The first month we had a 50% discount as a trial. We now pay between $1,500–$1,600 CAN (approximately $1,100–$1,200 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in September 2022, and our relationship is ongoing. We’re not getting rid of them soon.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The results weren’t spontaneous; it took about three months to see them. However, our sales skyrocketed around Christmas last year. Afterward, we saw a 40% increase in the first two months and a 65% increase after February. It’s currently around 80%, so we’re pleased with their work.
How did New Design Group Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management is excellent. We had a delay once, but it wasn’t from their side. We prepared merchandise for our customers, including fridge magnets, business cards, t-shirts, and tea mugs. The delay was from the shipping company, so it had nothing to do with New Design Group Inc.
We usually have calls with our manager about twice a week. Dmitri calls and reports to us directly; we have his personal number. Overall, they’ve got everything under control.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They do what they promise to do and are really professional. We’ve hired companies before, but New Design Group Inc. is the first company to keep their word, which is why we still work with them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We can’t talk badly about them; we’re really happy with their service.

My biggest advice is to be patient. We were about to quit on them after three months, but then we started seeing the results.
