I'm currently the (Chief Technology Officer) CTO and Co-Founder for a company that is dedicated to the import and export of pet products and other accessories.

We hired them to develop an order and inventory management system; as well as the integration with our logistics system.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

A company which already works with them recommended them to us, after several meetings to evaluate the project and review different proposals, we selected Codebay. Their proposal seemed the most appropriate to our objectives.

We start by planning the different stages of development with the support of an architect and the design area. We already had a system made in .NET, so the new platform was programmed in the same language. The development had different variables which took a year to complete, currently we continue working with them with support and system improvements.

The project at the beginning consisted only of a project manager and a designer; later three programmers joined, a senior and two middle. A tester also joined the project at the end of the first six months.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Although the project was not without delays, these were minimal and were quickly corrected. The final project was delivered and implemented without major complications. Currently the Codebay team provides us with support and system updates.

There is constant communication, during the project there is a general review every three weeks; also, we had daily meetings to define activities, which allowed us to have a very quick response to any issue with the platform.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Empathy, professionalism and most importantly: rapid response to incidents.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

It has been very beneficial to work with them, we have no complaints or improvements.

I’m the VP of technology at a clinical trial management software company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Codebay?

One of our partners has contacts in Central and South America. In these regions, the process for getting a new drug approved is lengthy and requires a lot of paperwork. We wanted to turn that process into a SaaS model. We were looking for a nearshore company that could handle development from start to finish.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Codebay provided full-cycle custom development for this new SaaS web app. They worked on the front-and backend, and they incorporated a dashboard experience and connectivity functionality.

What is the team composition?

We worked with one project manager directly. We also worked with front-and backend full-stack developers. We also worked with a UI/UX designer, too.

How did you come to work with Codebay?

They were recommended to us by a friend. We checked out a couple of different options, but at the end of the day, we liked Codebay’s communication and transparency. They were also very interested in the project as a whole and treated it as their own.

We started working together in November 2019, and we wrapped up in May 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The delivery timeframe was the most important metric for us. Codebay finished before they said they would. They delivered everything perfectly. Internally, everyone appreciated their work; the product was exactly what we were looking for and more. Codebay even made the product better. Clients have loved the service since it launched. It’s definitely fulfilled all of our expectations.

How did Codebay perform from a project management standpoint?

We had bi-weekly Zoom meetings after each two-week sprint. They shared their progress, a mini-demo, and their plans for the next sprint. The project managers were available whenever we needed them. The team was great at communicating throughout the entire project.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Codebay did what they said they would do. They took the project on as their own, and they were constantly looking for ways to make it better.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, nothing comes to mind. Our experience was fantastic. We’d highly recommend them to anyone.

My advice is to talk with the team and give them your overall goals. Leverage their expertise; they’ll come up with new and exciting ideas. The more you can strategize with them, the better.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

This development was part of an integral project that allowed us to start with a new venture, a distribution business. This CRM system allows us to check and manage all distribution channels. Basically, without this system, we wouldn’t have been able to launch this new project. We’re very satisfied with the quality of the development, delivery times, and overall management of the project.

How did Codebay perform from a project management standpoint?

We did have a couple of delays but they were mostly because our requirements had some changes. Although, after we had new requirements, we’d set new deadlines. Codebay met all of them in a timely manner.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Codebay is very professional. They’re a company with a lot of young individuals so I really like their vibe and way of working. They are flexible.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could probably say no more often. We had numerous new requests and they were all included. This made the project last longer than expected. However, I understand that is a part of providing a good service for their clients.

I’m the co-founder of Step Up Learning Co, which is a company that teaches English to children in Mexico using online classrooms and American teachers.

We’d originally hired a different programming team to help us build a hosting application for our teachers and students, but we ran into too many issues. That’s when we turned to Codebay.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

Codebay has taken over the development of our classroom hosting solution, bringing it from 50% progress to completion. It’s a web app that’s linked to our website as well as a couple of landing pages, WhatsApp account, and social media. The app has two sides: teachers can log in using an English interface to access their functions while students can use the app in Spanish.

We’ve invested about $30,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project started in November 2020. Since completing the application, Codebay has remained on retainer and continues to roll out new features.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We couldn’t be any more thrilled with the Codebay team and the product that they’ve created. They’ve gone above and beyond for client communication, which has allowed us to build a phenomenal rapport with them. Not only can I ask them questions regarding the project, but I also feel like they’re my business partner. I’ve been able to learn a lot about what goes into creating an app.

How did Codebay perform from a project management standpoint?

It all boils down to the fact that they deliver what they promise and over-communicate in the best of ways. They’re so regimented with how much they’re able to accomplish per day/week that we’ve never been in question as to the timeline of their work. We know when a feature is going to roll out, when something will be available, and when they’ll fix our bugs. 

During the main development phase, the team would send us daily WhatsApp messages of what they accomplished the previous day and what they planned to work on next. In addition, they had routine Zoom calls every other Friday and led standing meetings to demo any new features. This allowed us to provide feedback and ask for tweaks, which they’d typically make over the weekend to prepare for roll-out the following Monday.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Codebay’s ability to logically think through solutions to our development problems has been so impressive and helpful. There have been many times when we’ve wanted to implement an idea only to have them suggest a different solution that would get us to our end goal. I’d say 99% of the time, their method was more user-friendly, efficient, and easier for us to understand.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there’s nothing at all that they should do differently.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

You’d be a fool not to work with them. They’re a phenomenal team that delivers above and beyond what’s promised. I’m almost saddened that we’re now at a maintenance standpoint because we’re not working closely with them every day. Whatever you do, they’ll meet you wherever you’re at.

Doughnuts is a clothing manufacturer which is distributed to different suppliers in the country; I'm the CTO of the company, I'm responsible for the implementation and support of our IT infrastructure.

Our old inventory system was the same for several years, it was no longer compatible with new programs; we also wanted to create a system to manage our logistics.

SOLUTION

I worked with them in a previous job, so I already knew them.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

The project has been divided into two-week periods, where at the end there is a progress meeting. At first it was only planning, eventually the programming team came in, where together with me we check almost every day the status of development, communication is very fluid.

Currently we continue working on optimizing developments and creating new modules for our logistics area. Our system has been mounted on a server in the cloud, it's a hybrid development, but mostly it is made with .NET

We work with two programmers and a project manager; occasionally we ask for support from someone in their design team.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Once the first part of the project was released it was a considerable change, we eliminated manual records in the inventories and we managed to digitize our product information.

And something that we did not consider, but had a positive impact, was sending everything to the cloud, when the pandemic hit we were forced to close the offices, so since everything was digital, the administrative functions, new orders, registrations and among others, were not seen affected.

They generate a board where we can see the daily activities and their progress, as well as the pending ones. There you can also make comments. In general, I spoke directly with the PM, despite having a progress meeting every sprint, communication was practically daily, which made it easier to solve errors and keep an adequate control of development.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

One word: Communication. The clarity of knowing where we were, activities to do and the constant interaction between both teams was remarkable.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not really, the incidents were minor and there was a quick reaction from the team.

I’m the CEO and head of design for an interior design studio called Estudio.

What challenge were you trying to address with Codebay?

I hired Codebay to design and develop my website.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

Codebay worked on a basic website for my company. It was great how patient they were with me throughout the process. I was really strict with the design, always wanting to make changes and try different things. I’d send them ideas to work with, and they’d present an updated version every week or so. We’d meet at their office to go over those changes, too, which was perfect. 

As for the key features, I asked them to make it easy for me to upload projects to my site. I wanted my site to be more about my project photos rather than about the text, so Codebay designed a portfolio gallery to showcase my past work. If a user is interested in viewing the project details, then they can hover over the photos to see additional information.

What is the team composition? 

I stayed in touch with Albert (CEO) who managed the greater team.

How did you come to work with Codebay?

My friend lives in Silicon Valley and is into technology, so I reach out to him whenever I have to do a web page. He was the one who put me in contact with Alberto. When we met, I found that we got along very easily, so I decided to go with his company.

It was between 18,000–25,000 Mexican pesos (approximately $900–1,200 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

The project lasted from September–November 2016. It took longer than their other web projects, but I’m sure it was because I kept changing the design.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

In the end, I got an easy-to-use homepage to house my portfolio, and it was easy to upload new projects. They were very comfortable with me making all of my design changes, too. They were able to deliver my vision after I sent a mock-up of how I wanted things.

How did Codebay perform from a project management standpoint?

As I said, we met every week or so in person to go over the changes I requested. I’d tell them to move a part to the right or make something smaller, and they’d make the modifications right in front of me.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They had a very comforting, geeky look to them that made me feel like they wouldn’t take advantage of my time and money. I know I’m talking about their appearance, but it really helped me! The team seemed honest, and I knew that they would be enthusiastic about researching how to execute my requests — which is super important nowadays.

Are there any areas they could improve?

This was four years ago, so I’m not sure how this applies now. But they could’ve had a better designer on hand.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Have a clear vision of what you want when designing your website. Even doing a bit of research on other web pages that you like helps reduce any wasted time.

We hired them to develop a platform aimed at gathering clinical researchers.

What was the scope of their involvement? 

Codebay developed our platform for us. They used Java, PHP, and SQL to develop the system. The platform is a social media site similar to Linkedin and Facebook. It allows you to invite users, who can create profiles, post information, and communicate with each other about everything related to clinical research, cases, etc.

We had one developer assigned that worked along with our team and a project manager that would follow up on the advances and work of the developer.

Our manager knew the company personally so when this project came up he gave me their contact. I talked to them about the project and they seemed like a good fit so we decided to work with them.

The platform is already up and working. Before we started collaborating with Codebay the platform still needed a lot of work. We`ve had great feedback from its users. They mention it is practical, friendly, and useful, and it meets all expectations.

As we worked in outsourcing terms I was the one managing the project and passing on instructions to the developer. We never had any issues, delays, or disagreements. The team was professional and skilled, so it all worked perfectly.

They manage to adapt very quickly and give very effective solutions.

How did Codebay perform from a project management standpoint?

They provide daily reports and, every few weeks, there are meetings to see how things are going. Each meeting is organized and we're able to see where we stand. During the meetings, we decide whether to meet again in 2–3 weeks.

What I like from them is that during those meetings, we analyze the issues and we decide if the project should take another direction or if we should adapt in another way. It is very useful. We also constantly communicate through WhatsApp, Skype, Zoom, and other mediums.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I find them to be really honest which is difficult to find nowadays. They’re flexible, hard working and are readily available to discuss problems even if it's at night. Also, they are professional and whenever we have issues, they’re open to help us.

There have been times when not everything is implemented from what we’ve discussed in meetings – we've had to repeat from time to time, but it was minor.

Most of the goals were for creation and maintenance of web platforms.

How did you select Codebay?

I personally know the CEO before Codebay, so after contacting them we had an interview and they showed us their portfolio and projects, I really liked the way they work, all the processes are professional and simple to work with, so that’s how we started.

Once the client gave us the goals, we provided the information and the concept we wanted to work with so we moved on to define objectives. Within the first two weeks, we received mockups and initial designs for the web platforms and step by step achieved the objectives.

The project manager of Ligno always met with the Codebay team, always there were two fronted and two backend developers, plus the assistant who will always provide guidance.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

For our clients to have a proper and personally designed web platforms it was already a huge step and success. Within two months after the new website was launched, we witnessed 80% increase in overall traffic and about 30% drop in bounce rates. The new website and design was a success we constantly received positive feedback on the usability and how easy was to shop.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

As I said since the beginning, the professional touch they have with the easy and constant communication were the perfect combination to achieve the goals.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They really are an impressive company. Their knowledge and charisma are a superpower they had. In the end, our client was really happy with the result, so we were too.

The challenge for Codebay will always be to maintain that impressive and talented level.
