N4 Studio was hired to completely rebuild the Flex Fitness website. The project included the design and development of the website and photography/videography of all gyms across New Zealand. Our brand is our biggest asset and our website is our digital shopfront. At Flex we often talk about pushing boundaries and challenging the status quo, so our website needed to reflect those values. 

N4 Studio helped improve the user experience for our franchisees, members and also our staff here at the head office. For our franchisees, we needed landing pages that accurately promoted their unique selling points, showcased their gyms in the best possible light and generated quality leads. For the prospects and members, it was important that they could easily navigate the website, find their nearest gym, sign up online and learn about Flex Fitness New Zealand. 

For the creative team at the head office, we needed to be able to update and maintain the content on our website easily and with support from the team at N4 Studio. Key Deliverables:

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Better visibility and an increase in digital leads captured through our website forms. We have also noticed an improvement in our organic search results and store visits. And general positive feedback about the look and feel of our website from members, franchisees and stakeholders.

N4 Studio had a project manager, Lydia, assigned to our project who managed the communications between their designers and developers and the creative team at Flex Fitness. Our original (very ambitious) timeframe was not met, however, the revised date was met. We communicated via email, call, and in person and provided feedback for design through Figma. Overall, the project was managed professionally by the team at N4 Studio®.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Before the design and development of the website, N4 Studio hosted a workshop for our team to help get a better understanding of our target audience and user journeys, for both potential members and franchisees. We found a lot of value in the session and have continued to use the information as a base for our brand and marketing direction.

Are there any areas for improvement or something N4 Studio® could have done differently?

There were some parts of the projects that were skipped to meet the deadline, for example, user testing and feedback before launch. The launch of our website did feel a little rushed. My feedback would be to follow through with your process and communicate the importance of each step despite any external pressure you may experience.

Mobile Application: 

1. Develop and maintain the mobile application This work was to create an application that provided an email client to extend the functionality of our existing software product. Effort involved mapping out the user journey, developing a prototype for testing and final delivery. Additional work to improve upon and add functionality followed. 
2. The Outlook web add-in Supporting the front end styling and UI for the web add-in including animations and gestures. 
3. Provide designs for an entire reskin of our product This work involved assessing the existing product and providing a set of 163 icons for the new branding 
4. Search UI Develop a new user interface on new technology to allow us to scale the application. Working alongside our internal team, develop and maintain the user interface whilst improving on existing features and developing additional features.

The team are very quick to respond to any issues or concerns. Projects are always delivered on time. Comfortable with regular catch ups for project management to ensure continued alignment. Agile workflow where pivoting in different directions is well managed. Work is always well executed and at a very high standard. Pleasant to work with and would highly recommend.

Very charismatic and easy to work with. Working with external parties can sometimes be strenuous, however N4 Studio® has a very clear set of values that feed into the rest of the teams that allow for open communication and successful delivery of goals.

I am am Business Development Manger of No Fuss Business, a bookkeeping and accounting firm with a difference.

We educate our customers on all aspects of financial and business management including strategy, planning, forecasting and business process tools and implementation through app advisory.

For what projects/services did your company hire Neon Hive?

Our digital presence, website and SEO performance was unsatisfactory. A recent attempt at upgrading had delivered some great branding and themes but was off target with the voice and SEO performance.

We engaged with Neon Hive to do a review, develop a Digital Strategy for us, then implement the changes and upgrades.

What were your goals for this project?

The primary objective was to generate leads obviously. We wanted to ensure we were being found through our SEO, we were capturing prospects through a newsletter subscription and driving leads through content and retargeting.

How did you select Neon Hive?

Our workspaces were both in the Stark Properties Panama group of buildings. So we met through that.

The Neon team helped with video at a couple of our workshop events and through further discussion and looking at the work they were doing for other customers, we felt they were a great fit with our business and culture.

Firstly Neon developed a Digital Strategy for us by understanding our business, our market and our culture. Then they fleshed out a multi stage plan to migrate and upgrade our website, redevelop content and produce some customer video testimonials.

One of Neon's key observations was to focus on making our customer the hero in our messaging as opposed to just talking bout ourselves. We really liked this.

What was the team composition?

Jono led the way for Neon Hive. He was the primary brains on the strategy. Backing him up was Cody on video and photography content, Hannah on website performance and Courteney on our revitalised copy.

This team continues to work with us every month.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Outcomes were pretty darn good. Over the past 6 months, we’ve seen a 109% increase in website visitors, a 377% increase in organic search rankings (with multiple first-spot ranking keywords), and a 108% increase in organic search traffic.

There have also been 85 website conversions, which is a massive increase from zero conversions we saw before.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We liked the face to face contact and the defined project plan. Neon were great at following up to ensure that we stayed on track. They were also adaptable. When the world changed early 2020 we adjusted the project to suit our changing needs.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Neon are a great team of not only highly skilled people but also really personable and easy to work with. We both have an affinity for technology, this has been an unforeseen benefit as they have also been able to add real value as we started our new App Advisory and Cloud integration business No Fuss Cloud.

Additionally, we have continued to support each other through joint marketing and promotion.

What challenge were you trying to address with Neon Hive?

We wanted to upgrade our previous WordPress website in order to promote our items to the market and set up an online ordering system.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

First, they gave us a website concept on the information and photos taken in our store, outlining how the new site could look. We were impressed with it and continued to do more development in the meantime, with both sides providing ideas. We had to work on templates and put about 20,000 different products on the website so getting photos of all our products took a long time.

They developed our new website using Shopify, helping us to install items collection by collection on the website until it was complete. It was handed back to us and we checked every aspect, also trying out the ordering process and how it could work. We continue to make little alterations to the website as we go.

I worked with Jonathan (Managing Director, Neon Hive).

How did you come to work with Neon Hive?

We were introduced to Neon Hive by one of our staff members. We met up with Jonathan and had a discussion on what it is we needed, then ran through the concept and discussed the options. We decided to work with them and didn’t consider any other companies.

We’ve spent $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in August 2018, and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We launched the website in July 2019 and so far, we’ve only been promoting the website amongst our own current customers. We have 74 signed up and have had 62 orders go through. We want to get it completely right before we go to the market.

How did Neon Hive perform from a project management standpoint?

Jonathan was good and efficient, always coming back to us quickly. We were in communication daily to start with, which then became weekly and later monthly or less. It was such a big project that we parked it for a couple of months because we had to sort some things out within the company and then we came back to it, which they were flexible about. We communicated via email and phone calls, and Jonathan would come and see us once a month or once every couple of months.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They had efficient service and accepted the challenge of putting 20,000 different products on our websites. Generally, they showed a lot of excitement about wanting to get the website up and running and there were always plenty of options available.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they’re professional and d a really good job, responding well to any questions we have.
