I'm the owner and main designer of architectural studio based in Poland. We design buildings, interiors and another places where space is most important.

We hired mrkaluzny for web development of our company website. The main idea was to create fresh, functional and simple framework, which emphasize our designs.

We knew mrkaluzny portfolio and his approach to work - very focused on details, good knowledge of technology and optimistical approach.

Our work started with online meeting where we described our goals, key factors and scheduled next steps. From our idea's scratch mrkaluzny developed whole strategy of implementation. He presented a few functionalities improving whole website and were very sticked to graphic design and organisation atmosphere.

Our company worked with project manager - who was responsible for communication and few developers and graphic designer who made an implementation.

The new website made by external team using Wordpress and Shopify hybrid was proven to be very difficult to maintain, optimize and edit.

The performance results were abysmal and the overall stability of the page was mediocre to say the least. We wanted to implement a solution that will make the site more efficient for the visitors, more secure and stable.

mrkaluzny has the necessary skillset to tackle the issue. He has previously worked with similar environments – which made us certain that the success in very much achievable.

• Update the site core plugins – including ShopWP that serves as intermediary between Wordpress and Shopify • Fix stability issues within certain page segments (WP) • Optimize and speed up the site.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Both GTMetrix and Google PageSpeed ranking doubled after mrkaluzny's completed his work. All errors and pet peeves were fixed.

The project was done very swiftly with literally no impact on daily operations. Communication was clear and efficient. The primary audit and final report has given us a clear understanding of the project scope.

Ability to communicate project steps – even to people with no IT background. Speed and quality of the delivery. Scope of knowledge.

Not really, everything was transparent and well understood from the start.

For what projects/services did your company hire Wojciech Kałużny?

Wojciech helped us in a fairly desperate situation where we needed an experienced front end developer that was also familiar with the Laravel ecosystem (PHP, Laravel, Forge, Linode). He came in and cleaned up a handful of changes incredibly quickly with excellent accuracy.

What were your goals for this project?

We had a handful of functional website changes in the backlog, along with a couple of new landing pages to our existing website that needed to be built.

How did you select this vendor?

Wojciech has been a back-up freelancer for our team for years. We first worked together on Upwork but he has since left the platform and we work together directly.

Wojciech marked up a handful of interface changes on our website and built a couple of new landing pages. He took a design built in Photoshop and turned it into a new view on our site using HTML, CSS, Vue.js and Laravel. He made a couple of other minor changes to the views and routes of our website.

What was the team composition?

Wojciech was working directly with our designer and myself.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We had been struggling to get these changes implemented correctly because the requirements were hard to understand. WK pulled them together into a solution in less time than it took us to define them. It's hard to measure the tangible impact, but the changes were received well by the rest of the management team and our customer base.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Wojciech was very accommodating in using our management systems (Asana). He's also very organized with his own reporting and communication.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

His attention to detail and ability to fix issues that we didn't know about. Most freelancers we work with bring issues to us expecting an answer. Wojciech fixed everything he could find, while telling us what he was doing. It's refreshing to just give someone a briefing and know it won't result in a lot more work.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Not really. I can't recommend him highly enough.

We have created an App which you can connect to the 'smart meter' (for gas and electricity) in your home. We want to make people more aware of their energy usage and show them how fun (and easy!) it can be to reduce their usage level.

We all have to take steps toward climate change and we believe awareness and (small) actions are the first steps to take.
