One of our clients came to us with the idea of developing a service for hiring virtual assistants. We've been looking for a company that could take a part of the project scope as quickly as possible and deliver results on time, and Morning Stars was just up to the task.

We considered individual freelance specialists to strengthen our team. But this option didn't work for us, because hiring additional developers would have taken a lot of resources and time. So we decided to look at other development agencies.

We communicated with several teams that we found for this project, but no one was able to start the project on time. Morning Stars had the available resources and they were able to start work on the project in 6 days after our first contact with them. So we signed the contract and got to work.

We worked on a big project to develop a service for finding and hiring virtual assistants. We decided to outsource part of the project to MorningStars - developing a cross platform Mobile App for end users of the platform. Flutter framework was chosen for development.

The Morning Stars team worked mostly autonomously, according to the terms of reference. The company provided us with a dedicated project manager. Developers from Morning Stars were added to the project's Slack and were able to discuss any details as needed.

We worked directly with a dedicated project manager, Anastasia. There were also two developers assigned to the project: python back end engineer and Flutter frontend engineer. MorningStars also had a tech lead who monitored the quality of the codebase and performed code reviews before delivering it to us.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The project was delivered successfully, and the team finished the work. Now we are in the process of discussing a new, larger project that we want to pass on to the guys. The system has not yet gone into public release and is currently being tested in a QA environment. It is possible to give access to the QA environment of the service by invitations.

The guys were working separately from us on their part of the weekly sprints project. As far as we knew, they were using Trello to track tasks. Every week we called the project manager and received a comprehensive report on the status of the project.

After the call, the project manager would duplicate in text the list of tasks done in the previous week, and the plan for the next week. During the project, we had two mid-sprint task scope changes and Morning Stars responded very quickly and continued to work on other tasks.

Autonomy. There was no need for a long explanation of what should work and how it should work. The team was very involved in the project and was able to have their own clear vision on the project.

Morning Stars only worked on a weekly billing cycle which was not super comfortable for us due to our billing schedule with client was different.

The website has been 100% reliable, as has the artwork we've sold. Traffic during peak times never results in reliability issues either.

The website has helped in raising $20,000–$30,000 in the first round, and it's going to raise even more in the second. The UX fo the site is very good; it works very well on desktop and mobile and is very responsive.

All the deadlines have been met on time. We did a lot of heavy lifting at the beginning to make sure we had a clear plan. Excel spreadsheets suffice for our project management.

The system included: cross platform mobile application for clients, a CRM system for managing orders and employees, and a courier management system. We needed one company that would cover all the development. Our choice fell on Morning Stars, because they covered the entire development cycle: from hiring and management to design and release of the application.

We chose between several IT contractors. Morning Stars seemed to be the most experienced and we opted for them, even though the price was higher than the others. As it turned out, we made the right choice.

Morning Stars got the requirements for the project from us at the idea level and implemented it from scratch. First they thought through the user storylines and designed 90% of the screens in Figma, all we had to do was approve everything and we managed to do it right the first time with only a couple of minor fixes.

While the design was being done they chose a technical stack (Flutter, Serverless, AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, React.js) and started looking for a development team for our project. By the time the design was fully approved, everything was ready to begin development. Morning Stars worked in weekly sprints. Every week except the first we called and Morning Stars gave a full progress report for the week and talked about plans for the next sprint. After the demo call, we were given access to the new version in TestFlight.

Our point of contact was Sia - our dedicated project manager. There were also 3 full-time developers working on our project. One back end developer, two front enda: one for Flutter, the other for React.js

Our app is now available on Google Play and AppStore. We just launched the service last week. Our first users love this app.

Morning Stars was very easy and enjoyable to work with. At any given time, we were sure of the current state of the project. Every week we had a Zoom call with a report on the work. We also had a chat room on Telegram where we had access to all team members. We didn't use it often, but we were very pleased with the full transparency of the work.

The technical details of what they do were always explained clearly and in detail. We had a little trouble getting through moderation on the App Store, but the Morning Stars team went into detail and were always in touch with us and apple during this process. They very quickly fixed the flaws that Apple demanded, and in the end successfully passed moderation.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We only came to Morning Stars with an idea. Because we did not formulate the tech requirements, there were misunderstandings in some cases. Perhaps it would have been better if in the beginning MS forced us to write exact technical requirements. Instead of working in completely flexible manner.

The project steps were simple. Morning Stars had a discussion with us about our goals, desired features, and use cases. They explained some of the limitations of Telegram's platform, but they assured us that they could easily make it work even within those confines. They first designed the UI, and after we approved it, the next step was actual functionality. They tied the bot to not only Telegram's API, but also FedEx's API so our customers could select different shipping options and have prices presented to them.

Our office staff has had at least 50% of their daily tasks freed by the implementation of the bot because it allows ink ordering, the lifeblood of our company, to be handled almost entirely without human intervention—only the last step, packaging, requires human hands/time. Our customers love the bot and it is an important bonus that has helped draw in new customers.

Iskandar communicated with us by email, in-person, and by Telegram. Since his office was nearby, many times he would come to our office so we could have brief sit-down meetings to handle a specific issue. The initial development of the bot was fast—approximately 2 months. Since it was first delivered to us, Iskandar has continued to give us his time and attention to fine-tune aspects of the bot or to add features we thought of later.

Iskandar's personal time, effort, and attention. There are many skilled developers, but they are one of the few who put the customer at the center of the project. They eagerly seek out customer input and are quick to respond to questions and bug reports.

I am sure there are areas that Iskandar and the company as a whole could improve, but none that presented themselves during our project or through our continued business relationship.
