I am the co-founder of Footsteps and a project manager of the content and UI/UX team. Footsteps is one of the leading providers of smart city products for the B2G industry.

Applover developed a complex product that allows users to discover areas fully. Footsteps provides a number of ready-made sightseeing routes that are customized to match the user’s personality and preferences while making the trip pleasant and effortless. In addition, Footsteps offers plenty of additional information and helpful functions, making the user’s stay in an area relaxed and undisturbed.

What was the team composition?

We worked with two iOS developers, two Android developers, a quality-assurance (QA) specialist, and a backend developer.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

During our cooperation with local government agencies, we had a lot of breakdowns, but the Applover team was there for us and helped integrate our solution with the agencies’ platforms.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Our teams collaborated fairly well and quickly. Some misunderstandings occurred but nothing extraordinary. The lead iOS developer was especially helpful and contributed substantially to the product.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They offer swift cooperation. Whenever a problem occurred, they informed us right away.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Some deadlines were not met, which created a delay of four to seven days. But, Applover kept us informed at every step.

We engaged Applover to assist us in developing a comprehensive platform with three main components: an online streaming platform, a module that automates eCommerce activities, and a module for sales behavior analysis and recommendation, integrated with a business intelligence tool. Our primary objective was to create an innovative solution that would enhance sales efficiency by providing sellers with valuable recommendations based on customer preferences and behaviors.

The platform is designed to gather customer preference data through quick surveys, allowing sellers to tailor their approach for improved sales and customer experiences. As a result, the system effectively identifies and highlights pro-sales behavior during live broadcasts, enabling sellers to optimize their performance in real-time.

Applover's played a critical role in bringing our vision to life, helping us develop a robust and innovative platform that has the potential to transform the online retail landscape.

Technologies Used:

1. Ruby on Rails: A web application framework for building backend and frontend components.
2. PostgreSQL: A powerful and open-source relational database management system for storing and querying data.
3. Sidekiq: A background processing library for handling tasks asynchronously.
4. Shrine: A flexible and extensible file attachment toolkit for handling file uploads and processing. On Flutter's side, the application required a specific approach both from the studio's side, i.e. content creation by creators, and from the side of playing videos and songs. To enable both video and audio recording, the application uses physical devices such as a camera and a microphone but also has access to materials previously saved on the phone's hard drive.

To achieve this, the Flutter team used packages, such as permission handler, device_info_plus, or camera 0.10.0+4. The biggest challenge was to implement the ability to edit the created content. This has been achieved by adding a whole range of dedicated technologies, including video_editor_skd or imgly_skd. The application also has an advanced search engine that supports searching by hashtags, song titles, and co-authors of the material.

All these goals were achieved through integration with a specially prepared backend. In addition, the application provides a chat that allows artists to communicate with each other. In this case, the work was carried out simultaneously on the side of Flutter and BE.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

• adding works of artists: songs, videos, pictures, in order to promote their work
• the possibility of communication between artists. On the Flutter side, the application was an interesting project and required developers to implement additional packages and technologies. Thanks to this, the key assumptions of the application have been achieved, and it gives the possibility not only to add and edit content but also to search for tags of interest to the user and to communicate between artists.

What is more, using cloud infrastructure like AWS provided the flexibility and scalability needed to handle varying levels of traffic and data volume.

After a few meetings with the project team, we were able to work out a communication system that suited us and Applover. Regular messages via Slack, frequent calls with the team, and a detailed report every month allowed us to be up-to-date with the progress of work. The team was highly engaged in our project, and they responded to our requests almost immediately.

I was impressed by how the team worked independently and efficiently. Their help in arranging all functionalities was indispensable. I valued their advice on matching the scope of work to the budget, on what to translate into further stages, and what to include in the MVP.

I don’t see any area for improvement. Everything was excellent.

We interviewed a number of developers. Applover Software House seemed to understand what we needed and provided the best price with ongoing communication and maintenance

Among other functions, we asked for AR scanning, an animation/video integration, browsing filters for showings (e.g., distance, price), a search bar, a bookmark list, seat availability, and QR code generation. They also included social media sharing and donation capabilities as well as a Google Firebase development integration.

We worked with a three-person team.

Our investors approved the project, so we deemed it a success.

We worked quite well together and didn’t have problems because they were offshore.
