As Director of Palmgrove Road Pty Ltd, I engaged MLK Group Pty Ltd as trustee for MLK Marketing for digital marketing services in 2024, including SEO and Google Ads, based on their representations of significant business growth, increased website traffic, and a three-month money-back guarantee. Unfortunately, my experience did not align with these promises. After entering into a contract with MLK Marketing, the results fell well short of what was represented. Despite assurances of increased web traffic and sales, our business saw no such improvements. The Magistrates’ Court of Victoria recently found that MLK Marketing made misleading and deceptive representations that induced us to enter the agreement.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The Court awarded substantial damages to Palmgrove Road Pty Ltd, recognising the loss and damage suffered as a result of MLK’s conduct. Importantly, the Magistrate found that of the total amount of $45,193.40 charged to my company the actual value was only $3,390.00 and ordered MLK Marketing to pay my company $41,793.40 for loss and damage under the contract and dismissed MLK’s claim for unpaid invoices of $10,216.39. This stark disparity was a key factor in the Court’s decision to award compensation. Following this decision, MLK Group Pty Ltd was put into liquidation to avoid paying the judgment and costs of $50k. I have also recently taken Mr Michael the former director of MLK Marketing to court where he was found to have personally engaged in deceptive and misleading conduct during the proceeding in breach of the Civil Procedure Act. I would strongly caution other businesses to be wary of marketing promises that sound too good to be true.

Are there any areas for improvement or something MLK Marketing could have done differently?

My experience, now confirmed by a court decision, highlights the importance of transparency and honesty in business dealings. I cannot recommend MLK Marketing based on our experience and the findings of the Magistrates’ Court. Also, I am amazed that MLK Marketing is still trading given that both MLK Group Pty Ltd and MLK Group International Pty Ltd have been put into liquidation!! BEWARE!!!

Their project management is non-existent. When i asked for info, i dealt with overseas team members with little comprehension of the project. When I asked to cancel my contract, the owner became threatening and aggressive and is making false lawsuits against me.

MLK Marketing did a bad job, so we didn’t get any measurable outcomes from the project. We weren’t able to rank any SEO keywords, and the keywords they provided were all wrong.

We engaged MLK to re-build and clean up our website, and to improve our ranking. in their proposal to us they said that we should be up and running within 8 to 10 weeks. At the end of the day, eighteen months later, not only was there no improvement to our site, when we got back access to our site, the operating plugins that make the site function were gutted. 
Our first account manager took from May 2022 until December 2022 to get the site live. When we contacted him in february 2023 there was no response. We were eventually told he was gone. We then went through a series of contacts there that ultimately did nothing to improve our site. The solution they offered in the end was for us to spend more money with them. Based on their performance to that point, we declined.

My recommendation is do not touch this company. I received an unsolicited call from a Sam in Oct 2020. Sam indicated that MLK Marketing could provide an ongoing service to generate leads for my business using SEO and indicated that the timeline would be 2 weeks from setup and approval. To cut a long story short and 5 months later I decided to pull the pin and go with another company and sent an email to that effect. 

I never heard anything from them again until December 2023 (some 2 years later) where I received a letter from a debt collector indicating that I owe MLK $19,166. Reading through their online reviews on Google, "Trusted Business Reviews and Clutch.co, it appears that many former clients are experiencing similar issues with this company, way too many for it to be a coincidence. 

Needless to say I went with another company who were fantastic, honest and ethical and achieved in 4 weeks what MLK could not achieve in 5 months.

Their Work was not prepared with "Due care and skill" This was demonstrated by consistent spelling errors, grammar errors, links not working, the inability to follow simple instructions and requests, a general communication issues. 

The initial work not "fit for purpose" and failed to achieve any of the goals set. their timeline was not completed within a "reasonable time frame", None of the objectives were  acheived and their verbal promises in their sales pitch were never realised. They rarely responded to queries in a timely manner, and generally, their overall service delivery was extremely poor

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I really tried to give this company a go and was relatively patient  initially trying to be positive untill it became plainly obvious that for me after 5 months of exhaustive work and continued frustrations they were totally incompetant and were never going to achieve the objectives we set out ot achieve. what was worse is that MLK would not accept that their service delivery was poor and still expected you to pay exorbitant amounts of money using a contract which was deceptive and misleading. 

It is fair to say that many business sometimes get it wrong but it is the way in which they deal with those issues and complaints that sets the good companies apart from the very poor ones. and MLK are about as bad as they come which is clearly driven from the top down.

I dont believe there is anything that MLK Marketing could do to improve because it is clearly driven from the top so untill you fix that they will continue to operate in the same manner
