I’m co-founder and managing director of a German-based startup focused on digital signage and content distribution via social Wifi. We provide a complex solution for the digital TV-industry.

For what projects/services did your company hire Mitrix Technology?

Our app was not working properly, and there were a number of issues that needed to be redone. As we had little time, we needed someone who could fix the issues as soon as possible.

What were your goals for this project?

The main challenge was to have a working app by December 2018. And, of course, the main goal was to have a well-working and easily scalable software that we could provide to our clients.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We already had a software development partner for this project, but needed another partner when we found out that our Android app was crashing on our clients’ devices. I reached out to MITRIX Technology for help because I had known Natalia (Head of Business Development, MITRIX Technology) previously.

That was our first mutual assignment. Their team did a good job, solving the issue within a few hours. Being impressed with the quality of work provided, we decided to continue to work with MITRIX Technology on the frontend of our product as well as the Android components.

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

The main goal was to find the weak points in our system and provide solutions to fix them within a short period of time. For example, we had a digital player on Angular 5, but it did not work properly on Android devices. It was impossible to download and play two or more videos simultaneously.

During the code review, they suggested a totally new approach to rewrite the player from scratch. The new HTML-based player could stream custom web content “slides.” At the same time they’ve also improved the project architecture, since it was too complex and non-scalable initially, and have developed all of the frontend admin panels.

From an Android perspective, MITRIX Technology has rewritten our Android app to resolve serious errors. The app connects to custom Android-based TV-boxes. 

The scope includes: 

• Add automatic and manual update app 
• Improve stability 
• Add caching for slide 
• Change and improve logging (e.g., dump system logs) 
• Expand server's control (e.g. add schedule) 
• Rework logic loading and storage 
• Redesign UI/UX

What was the team composition?

We’ve been working directly with two senior frontend and Android developers as a core team. From time to time, we’ve added a few more resources when required to speed up the development process.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

By launching a completely redone app within tight deadlines, we’ve been able to acquire new clients and have impressed our investors. Currently, we’ve been getting positive feedback and are now planning the next round of development.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We have good communication channels, using Jira to set tasks for two-week sprints and track time. Plus, we have daily meet-ups, and their team members can easily jump onto a call or chat as required.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

MITRIX Technology does even more that we could expect from them! I like the level of quality development that they provide and how dedicated they are to our project. They strive to apply our business requirements to working software solutions. 

Are there any areas for improvement?

At the moment, I can’t mention any areas for improvement. Even if we’ve had any ongoing issues, we can easily discuss and overcome them.

What challenge were you trying to address with Mitrix Technology?

We needed to augment one of our client’s existing UI design teams.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our end client had a tight budget and strict timeline, so Mitrix Technology came on to help the internal team develop the UI for a product that helps analyze financial data in the marketplace. They were onboarded quickly and have done work in C#, JavaScript, and jsb.

We work with the founder and one developer.

How did you come to work with Mitrix Technology?

I’d worked with them before and knew they’d be a good fit for this job. We contacted them and one other company, but the other company took much longer to get back to us. Mitrix Technology was willing to do the work on our strict deadline, so we hired them.

We’ve spent around $76,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since June 2017, and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’ve stuck to our tight timeline and have had excellent communication. If I ever have a staff augmentation need, I discuss it with them first because I know I can rely on them.

How did Mitrix Technology perform from a project management standpoint?

Our end client oversees most of the project management, but Mitrix Technology has been open and transparent. We always know what to expect from them and when. We communicate every day, mainly over Skype.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re willing to put in the time, attention, and effort to do a great job.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of any ways they could improve. We’ve had an overall good experience.

Have a conversation with them and really see what they can offer.

What challenge were you trying to address with Mitrix Technology?

We had a short term need for augmentation of our development staff. They were so good that we ended up turning over entire modules of the product to them to develop.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Mitrix Technology provided high-end software development skills in .NET and SQL Server. We had a complex application that consisted mostly of a UI, JavaScript, and a few other key components. We led the product management and the design. They would certainly suggest better designs during the process if there were any mistakes, penalties, or discrepancies. We worked in two week sprints in an agile approach and they produced features. 

What is the team composition?

They provided an account manager but we led the project management on our side. 

How did you come to work with Mitrix Technology? 

I can't remember where we found them but it was on a website where they had a profile. It might have been Clutch but I'm not sure. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent in the neighborhood of $120,000.

What is the status of this engagement? 

The project took place roughly from March 2018–March 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Their base level success was creating good modular code that’s extensible and maintainable. Mitrix Technology produced user-ready features every time. They provided good UI, which is super important these days. They were also solid on the frontend with the overall interaction between modules. They made good suggestions for ways to get different parts of the system working well together. 

How did Mitrix Technology perform from a project management standpoint?

They didn't do much in terms of project management. We used Azure DevOps to manage the project and we met with them on a daily basis. Mitrix Technology was excellent at communication and making sure that they met their deliverables. They let us know in advance about any vacations or time off, which helped us to plan our agile velocity. In addition to development support, the biggest thing that they did was help us to estimate accurately. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were aiming for quality code and Mitrix Technology definitely hit that mark. 

Are there any areas they could improve? 

No. I think they did well. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers? 

This isn’t specific to Mitrix Technology, but an agile approach is always good. It gets people together on a daily basis in order to make sure that everyone is on the same page. That's pretty typical in the industry.
