Discuss and align on the future desired state. This may include improved data flows, clear SOPs/SLAs, and increased speed of collections (reduced DSO). Evaluate people, process, and systems needed to achieve desired state. This will include: Designing a revenue/invoice operations process/workflow that will reduce operational and accounting overhead and improve revenue realization/collection Optimizing how invoices are created/sent/tagged/updated/voided when necessary in order to best reflect reality in our bookkeeping and ultimately financial statementsDesigning a follow-up reporting/outreach process and cadence for overdue invoices Evaluating potential fintech to support those workflows Present findings and recommended solutions. There were some areas where the scope evolved over time based on their findings; they were correct to evolve it (i.e. some areas where they discovered their expertise wasn't needed) but could have been more proactive with communication about what they learned and why they were deprioritizing that work.
