I’m the CEO of Franchiseefirst, a company that provides coupons to franchisees to meet their payment security requirements for franchisers. Traditionally, franchisees have to go through a bank to provide the funds, but we’re offering them a chance to purchase and issue a bond to meet that requirement.

What challenge were you trying to address with MIDM Web Systems & Apps?

We were a new business that grew from an older company that had an in-house IT system. However, the system was over-engineered and too expensive for our new business. So, we wanted to move to a new platform to lower our operating costs and improve end user functionalities.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

MIDM Web Systems & Apps is our IT service provider; they’ve developed a custom software system to manage our IT system. The backend and databases are on AWS. I believe the platform was developed using Python. 

Before providing us with a final option, they prototyped the solution and provided pages of documentation and requirements. Six months later, they implemented everything, and we went through several iterations before the final product was delivered.

A friend who’d worked with them before referred them to us. I saw the work MIDM Web Systems & Apps developed and liked their interactive design approach.

We’ve invested around $40,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

Our ongoing project began in February 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We don’t have a very complicated business, so our metrics are quite simple: cost and usability. By going live with this system, we could leave our old system, saving us several thousand dollars a month. We achieved our cost avoidance objective a month later than intended, but we did achieve it. Because of the delay, we had to pay two months of hosting charges to our old platform. 

As for the second metric, we wanted 80% of all our customers to follow through on our processes, which we’ve achieved. 

How did MIDM Web Systems & Apps perform from a project management standpoint?

Their team is very responsive — we use WhatsApp to communicate with each other. Since there is a time zone difference, we sometimes have to work around their schedule. 

During the project, we had weekly Zoom or Microsoft Teams meetings to review the project’s progress and upcoming tasks. We’d also provide feedback on the code we’d reviewed. When we were testing the platform, it was easy to raise issues through WhatsApp, especially during the launch process. We also used SharePoint to share documents, including error trackers, change requests, and platform screenshots. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

MIDM Web Systems & Apps is very responsive and open. Their team is very nice and extremely engaged with us — they’re trying to achieve the outcomes we want. Nothing is too difficult for them to execute. MIDM Web Systems & Apps’ iterative processes work well for us. 

I’ve worked with other companies, and they always want complete documentation before even sitting down for a meeting. With MIDM Web Systems & Apps, I can just pick up the phone and pitch my idea to them to see how viable it is. We’re moving too fast to have everything documented before starting brainstorming sessions. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’ve had some issues with the language barrier; we had problems with our issues not being understood when we raised them verbally. To combat these problems, we had Mauricio translate our needs to the team during our meetings. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I’d suggest having a Spanish-speaking teammate involved in the project and using screenshots to convey issues that arise.

MIDM Web Systems & Apps developed two software platforms for us. The platform allowed us to process and grant loans through a completely paperless system. They developed the platforms from scratch and in compliance with international standards.

I’m the manager of a record label called End of The Light Records. We’re based in Vancouver, Canada.

What challenge were you trying to address with MIDM?

We were looking to build an e-commerce website and a system to help us track warehouse inventory and product performance.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

MIDM managed all aspects of design and development using Javascript. They also created a web-based tool that helped us track our inventory on Overstock and other third parties, as well as monitor the success of each release.

What is the team composition?

I work closely with a project manager, but I’m not sure how many developers he liaised with during the engagement.

How did you come to work with MIDM?

I have known their team for a while. The manager and I were acquaintances in the music business, and they approached me with an offer to build up my online services. They’ve been exceptionally easy to work with.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested about $20,000 thus far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in February 2016 and completed the projects within a few months. We’re currently in the process of bringing them on for new projects.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The tools worked very well for our needs. Since their completion, we’re no longer using them due to several industry shifts. However, we’re look forward to working with them again.

How did MIDM perform from a project management standpoint?

They were reliable, transparent, and organized throughout the project. Whenever we were approaching deadlines, they would work extra hours to meet all our requirements. Everything went very well. We received automatic updates via email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I really appreciated the fact that I was able to discuss the specifics of the project with them in Spanish. This was very helpful throughout the development process. It was a very effective relationship, and the deliverables sent exceeded our expectations.

I’m the General Manager of Cirtec. We’re dedicated to integration technologies in matters of perimeter security, physical and logical security, telecommunications, and computing infrastructure optimization.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with MIDM?

We needed someone to develop our entire platform, including integrations for our existing business systems.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’ve helped us develop four solutions at this point, including a barcode scanner integrated into end-user software, and an inventory aggregation platform. Currently, we’re integrating all our solutions into a single platform, including our CRM, billing and quote processes, business intelligence, and service desk for ticket follow-up.

What is the team composition?

We’ve been working with four different developers, as well as a general manager and a project manager.

How did you come to work with MIDM?

After meeting them, I invited them to work on a number of different, smaller development projects like web apps, CRMs, and mobile apps. I saw how they worked and I talked to them about this project. They submitted a proposal, we made a few modifications to it, and then came together on this project.

How much have you invested in them?

We’ve spent around $50,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since February 2018. The CRM should launch around mid-May, and the whole project will be finished in December.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve already started liberating modules, and at the moment, we’re testing the CRM’s functionality.

How did MDM perform from a project management standpoint?

I meet with their general manager once a month, when possible, but there is also a project manager who follows-up with me directly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They provide great follow-up, especially if I’m unable to attend a meeting or take a call. Their project manager always finds a way to get me the information discussed and keep me informed of all their advances. Their creative side is also great. They're always bring us new and innovative solutions, instead of just sticking with what I ask for. They do their research and give us additional proposals.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could lower their prices. I wanted the development to be fast, and in the end, they're around average market price.

I’m the national sales manager at an administrative software company. We target small and medium enterprises in Mexico.

They developed a product to manage end-clients’ events. The tool also enabled real-time feedback and analysis to our sales system.

Work started in August 2017 and is ongoing.

Despite the remote collaboration, we’ve been happy with the results and partnership. They proved themselves immediately, finding system errors early in the engagement. The team was open to all suggestions and requests.

They're proactive and experienced. The team always has good suggestions; they propose appropriate solutions.

I’m the general manager at CEFA, a private training institution with over 38 years in the market. We provide training courses in different areas but mainly on taxation.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with MIDM Web Systems & Apps?

We’ve done several projects with them in the past, but the last and most important one has been the development of our mobile app. It’s basically a new communication channel with our clients.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed our app for both iOS and Android platforms.

What is the team composition?

I communicated with the manager directly but I don’t know how many developers were involved.

How did you come to work with MIDM Web Systems & Apps?

They previously developed our website and assisted with some graphic design projects. We like the way they work; they’re very practical and take deadlines seriously, so we felt good working together again. They weren’t the cheapest option but we wanted to prioritize quality, and from in a cost-benefit perspective, they were a great option.

How much have you invested in them?

The app cost around 500,000 pesos ($27,708) at first, but we added new filters, buttons, and so on, so the end price increased to around 600,000 pesos ($33,200).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working on the first version of the app around three years ago and the last version's build was this year.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re on the forefront in our market and ahead of our competition thanks to the app they’ve helped create. We’ve used the app to offer promotions to the students that subscribe through it, which has been greatly beneficial. It makes us look like an elite and modern company.

How did MIDM Web Systems & Apps perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated through phone calls and WhatsApp and had occasional meetings. They’re very patient and hear all of our requests. There haven’t been any delays in spite of the many changes we’ve asked for.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I like their practicality, formality, and customer service. They are not the cheapest but their prices are competitive and they’re always open to what the client wants. Everything flows nicely with them, which is very important to me as a project manager.
