Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a clinical psychologist at Periodontal Associates of Ottawa, a dental specialty practice of periodontists and associated dental professionals. My husband owns the business. 

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Merge9?

We needed help producing video and photographs for our website update and social media marketing efforts. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

First, Merge9 scheduled a site visit, and we chose locations where we would be shooting. We discussed the types of photos we would like to shoot, the messaging we would promote, and other details.

Merge9 also walked through how my husband would feel comfortable speaking in front of the camera. The video would be English, which wasn’t my husband’s primary language. After that, we scheduled a shoot day. They took everything from there, from the video shoot to audio mixing to polishing.

Merge9 filmed a four-minute, interview-style promotional video with my husband sitting down and talking to the camera. He introduced our clinic and talked about our values, services, and credentials. The video included a video of our team members carrying out their day-to-day duties.

I worked with Andrew (Owner) and another photographer. 

How did you come to work with Merge9?

I found Merge9 through Instagram and liked their work. I reached out to Andrew, and we spoke on the phone. He then sent me his portfolio, and we talked about how they could help us with our project.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $3,000 CAD (approximately $2,400 USD). 

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from September–December 2021.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We posted Merge9’s video on our social media accounts, and it also plays in our reception areas. Their work received great feedback — our patients liked it, and it boosted our online following. 

How did Merge9 perform from a project management standpoint?

Merge9 was very thorough and accessible — their project management was outstanding. They facilitated effective communication, and they were organized and prompt. Everything went exactly as we had planned. We spoke through email and phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The quality of Merge9’s work was impressive. In addition, their efficient, calm, and organized demeanor put our whole team at ease when being photographed and filmed. They were very gentle but intentional in their approach. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything. We had a super positive experience with Merge9 and would work with them again in the future.

Please describe your company and your position there.

Be Connected is an online program that teaches women how to go from disconnected and overwhelmed in their relationship to being able to communicate their needs and feelings, let go of resentment, and improve their intimacy. I am the owner of this company.

For what projects/services did your company hire Merge9?

Merge9 was hired to do a promotional video to advertise Be Connected, as well as several lessons within the Be Connected program.

What were your goals for this project?

The goal of this project was to create greater exposure and awareness of the program so that women can join and improve their relationships.

How did you select Merge9?

Merge9 came highly recommended in Ottawa. Their work is highly respected and the quality they put out is outstanding.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.

Merge9 filmed the videos in my office. They took care of all set up and finding the right space and light. They filmed the video, both of myself and with other angles and discussions to emphasize the video's need. They also edited the film.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The videos from Merge9 were a huge success! They captured the feeling behind the company and what it has to offer for women. The videos were clear and had the needed emotion behind them to capture the attention of potential clients.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was seamless and all deadlines were met. Merge9 was flexible and accommodating to the needs of my business.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was most impressed by their ability to see the vision that I had and to create it without me having to give a detailed explanation. They took videos that helped to enhance the project and deliverable.

Are there any areas for improvement?

No areas for improvement and I look forward to working with them again.

Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the owner of a physical therapy clinic located in Ottawa, ON. We specialize in Osteopathy and Athletic Therapy for pre and post-natal women.

For what projects/services did your company hire Merge9?

We hired Merge9 to produce a promotional video for the home page of our website.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted the video to speak directly to our ideal clients - women who are pregnant, and new mothers. The goal was to efficiently explain how we could help them.

SOLUTION

How did you select Merge9?

I was familiar with the photography work that Merge9 does. I'd also used them for headshots and was very pleased with the results.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.

We discussed a couple of ideas for the video, and in the end, decided to have me "starring" in it. I have three young children and we thought I would be relatable to our target audience. I wrote a script and Merge9 came up with a shot list. We filmed a typical treatment and training session, and me reading the script to the camera. We made a few changes to the first version of the video and settled on a final edit.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

They were very communicative throughout the whole process of making the video. Filming was completed in one afternoon, and we reviewed the footage as we worked. Drafts of the video were posted online. They use a service that allowed me to leave notes on the video as I viewed it. This made it easy to get to the final version quickly.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Since adding the video to our home page, our visitors spend more time on our site. We've also experienced an increase in our google ranking.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Working with Merge9 was great! They were always available to answer any questions I had. Once the video was filmed, they made the edits I suggested quickly.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

This was my first time working with a professional for video, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was impressed by how quickly they were able to get the video finished. Also, the video itself exceeded my expectations.

Are there any areas for improvement?

None that I can think of.

I am the marketing director for Mahogany Salon and Spa. Mahogany is a full service salon and spa in the Ottawa area. We offer an extensive list of services that includes everything from manicures and massages to hair styling and body treatments and medical aesthetic treaments.

We wanted to create a video that captured the experience of a guest enjoying a day at the spa.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We have used Merge9 for photography in the past.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail, including the project steps and all stages of production.

We began with a brainstorming session about content. We created a shot list and worked with Merge9 to set up shots for video. In the end they delivered several service videos as well as formatted Instagram videos for our social media channels.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

We worked with Andrew who shot the videos. We edited all videos via zoom with Andrew delivering the final cuts. Working with Andrew was easy, calm, focused and on time.

We are still tracking progress.
