What was the scope of their involvement?

Media Pouch helped us film the footage we needed. Initially, we provided them with call sheets detailing what we wanted them to get done. One of our internal people was in charge of interviewing the people on screen, but Media Pouch handled all the preparation, setup, and filming.

Media Pouch brought their own equipment to the filming locations. These included a construction site, which was one of our clients, and the hotel where we had our team summit. Additionally, they helped our partner with editing and audio mixing. The video will be posted on our website and social media channels.

The quality of Media Pouch’s work was spectacular. We’ve done a lot of similar projects, and this is the best outcome we’ve had. Moreover, they were very professional on the job site, and their speed of delivery was excellent.

Media Pouch delivered on time and within budget. We communicated via text messages and phone calls several times, and we had a Google Meet meeting.

I’m the head of brand at Triplewhale, a digital marketing tech software company. We help e-commerce entrepreneurs get accurate digital marketing data by linking all their platforms and marketing metrics. We provide a dashboard where they can see their business status and accurately attribute the sales back to where they came from.

What challenge were you trying to address with Media Pouch Video Production?

We’re in the SaaS space, which has pretty dull content. It’s all basic product and advertising videos.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We looked at Media Pouch Video Production to create innovative content. One of those pieces was a mini reality TV show. It was an intensive project — we had six creators stay in a house, and they filmed it over four days. Now, they’re editing and producing it into a four-episode mini-series that we’ll use as marketing materials. In addition, they produced some high-resolution videography to use as educational marketing materials. We wanted people to learn how to use our product and features better.

Initially, we sat down with them and discussed the various opportunities we were looking to work on. They pulled together a proposal, and we got started. Their production team frequently came to our office to discuss the projects’ creative strategy and production direction. They did some storyboards before filming the TV show to ensure we had the onsite resources we needed. We had a plan, and the team knew the project goals and how we’d piece together each day. They created a visualization schedule and pulled together all the necessary resources for the four-day intensive production. 

The other project was closer to a point-and-shoot production. They set up everything on their end and got our team to speak about the product on camera. They provided their own equipment and crew for both projects, but we rented the house and studio we shot in. Similarly, they used their own resources for post-production. They’ll share the videos via WeTransfer when they’re completely edited via.

What is the team composition?

I wasn’t present for the educational project, but probably two people worked on site. On the other hand, they had a whole crew for the reality TV show. We worked with Ryan (Founder & Owner), an on-site director, several camera operators, a boom and microphone person, and a sound person. It was a proper film crew with more than five people.

We connected to Ryan; he was already within our network because he was in the entrepreneurial space in Austin. He shared a proposal and talked to us about some of the production opportunities we had. Media Pouch Video Production packaged together a great deal where we could work on those two big productions as part of one project.

We filmed the reality TV show project in July 2022 during one weekend; it was Thursday through Sunday. Additionally, the educational project was in August 2022, and it lasted three days.

When doing film production, all sorts of problems might pop up, but they were great at resolving those challenges quickly. If we needed something, they’d run and buy it so we wouldn’t hold production. Moreover, Ryan went above and beyond his role to manage the project and ensure everyone was doing the right thing.

Also, we were very impressed with the quality of their work. Even though we haven’t distributed it, they’ve done high-quality video production and post-production. Instead of having boring product demos, we’ll have engaging, beautiful videos that people will enjoy watching to learn how to use our product. Overall, they helped us in various ways and did a great job. We’d definitely recommend them.

Project management was excellent. They were very communicative and flexible. If we wanted to add or change something, they’d scale the budget up or down. Since they didn’t tell us how much it’d cost before we went into the projects, we had time to adjust. After the projects, if anything ran over the original budget, they didn’t charge us extra for it. Ultimately, they sat down with us, marked all the hours, ensured the cost fitted our budget and plans, and made the necessary adjustments so there wouldn’t be any surprise costs.

Also, they were very hands-on. The team worked seamlessly as an arm of our business; they felt like part of our team. They responded to inquiries promptly and were available when we needed them. 

Moreover, communication was exceptional. We talked on the phone and met in person. Their office was two hours from ours, so we’d have lunch together to chat. We used emails and Slack leading up to the production. We could go back to them whenever we had questions or needs. Also, they worked with us on Notion, our note-taking application. On shooting days, we could communicate directly via phone with Ryan if anything urgent came up. All in all, they were on top of everything; they texted or called us whenever something popped up. They made us feel safe and confident in the quality of their work, and everything was solved quickly and with the utmost accuracy.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They stood out for the clarity and timeliness of their communication. They were very creative as a production company, but many companies do that. However, the high-touch customer support was exceptional. They were with us in the trenches giving us updates when needed — that level of support is unique.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They should give a solid deadline on when the project will be completed rather than providing a timeframe; it’d be more helpful. Other than that, they did a great job managing challenges. We’ve come a long way.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you’re reticent about relying on an external company to create content for you, rest assured you’ll be in good hands. They’ll have great communication throughout every step of the way. Also, be honest and transparent about your goals and how much money you’re willing to spend. If you’re kind of nit-picky or strict, communicate it. The team will make sure the project comes out the way you want it, and they’ll let you take the reins as much as you want. If you don’t want to be that involved, you don’t have to; just be clear about what you’re looking for, and the end project will yield the best results.

I am the Sales and Marketing Manager for Phunware, a Multiscreen as a Service (MaaS) company. We recently launched our cryptocurrency called PhunToken and wanted to create a quick one minute video for it.

They worked with us (all virtual) in order to the product and what the video should show, features to be highlighted, etc. We produced the copy and they did the voiceover. They handled all the permits, the talent, the locations, the production, etc.

We worked directly with the founder of the company. Having access at this level, we believe was key to the success of the project. Communications were very direct and clear. We were kept up to date at each step along the way.

They invested time at the beginning of the project to know and understand the product and what we wanted to achieve. On one of our early projects, they even delivered some spectacular helicopter footage, without extra cost, which we could not afford at that time

I am sure that we all can do something better. But no, the final product speaks for itself.

I flew the team to Kansas City for tours of partner facilities and then they cut that up into long segments to highlight the relationship and use in the video business card. Once we got all the film we went through 3+ edits of content to make sure everything was up to par

I worked with 3 members of the team directly. Feedback was open, consistent, and quick.

The outcome is still up in the air but the feedback on the videos has been top notch. The reason it’s up in the air is it’s taken us 3 months to get all 40 videos implemented on YouTube and then placed on the website across the various pages. We’re testing the lift in conversion rate now.

I have a YouTube channel, and Media Pouch produces videos for me. We typically send one video out per week.

For the filming, we do it once per month. The team provides the cameras, lights, teleprompter — the whole nine yards. When we set up, we record 4–5 videos at a time, and I normally have them back within 7–14 days.

Then, they edit the intro, outro, music, and integrate templated collaterals in the films. They’re also in charge of the captions and thumbnails.

I only work with Ryan (Founder), but he has a team that works on our projects.

We started in January 2020, and it’s ongoing. Initially, we worked with Media Pouch for three months, and now we’re just wrapping up our 12-month contract in April.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

I’m in an industry that doesn’t do a lot of videos, so KPIs are a little hard to pin down. What I can share is that over time, Media Pouch’s quality of videos has improved because they’ve enhanced their equipment and skillset. 

As such, we also saw dramatic success with our videos. Most importantly, we’ve achieved a fair amount of online presence and the videos have also been our gateway to more proposal opportunities and media attention. 

How did Media Pouch perform from a project management standpoint?

We have meetings in my office, and we’ve gone offsite one time.  They’ve met all their deadlines, and their production quality has been reliable and exceptional.

We had one situation where we didn’t film at our usual location, and still, the outputs from the team were better than acceptable. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I highly appreciate that Ryan is always looking to improve. When I met him, his skills were already amazing, but it’s even better now. He’s always learning so that he can do things better, whether it’s to raise his team’s quality of work or efficiency.

I don’t think they have any areas to improve. They're a young and growing business, and they’ve been already doing an excellent job. I'll continue to expect great things from them.
