What challenge were you trying to address with Mayple?

I was looking for help in getting started with marketing and to find backers for my Kickstarter campaign.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I was not involved enough in letting them know what I needed.  I had almost no time to dedicate to the project, so I was not able to implement their suggestions very well or quickly.  I did not even find the time to tell them about what I was looking for, or what Kickstarter is.

What is the team dynamic?

We had an advertising expert in the UK and an account manager in Israel.  They were both knowledgeable and willing to help.

How did you come to work with Mayple?

Mayple is a good option for those with a limited marketing budget. They provide three layers of service at a reasonable price.

1. A marketing expert
2. A manager to make sure the marketing expert is meeting your expectations
3. A software layer that helps visualize marketing spend, etc.

Keep in mind that they do not provide the ‘creative’ so you will have to come up with your own ads, and they will help to manage them.

How much have you invested with them?

I spent $1000 on their services, plus ad costs.  We worked together for over a month, but I did not have enough time to dedicate to utilizing their services to the best advantage.

What is the status of this engagement?

It wasn’t a good fit for me, because I needed help with overall strategy, marketing basics, and the making of the creative elements.  I believe Mayple can help with the strategy/basics, but I never even found the time to discuss with them what I needed.

How did your relationship with the vendor evolve?

I never provided them with feedback or had time to check on how they were doing.  I believe they would have made adjustments to help make it a success if I had.

How did Mayple address the challenges that arose?

They were unaware of the issue and I didn’t tell them about it.

Working with Mayple helped me to feel more confident in running ads, and learning more about what my business needs and what I am looking for in employees or firms we work with. 

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?

On my previous review I said that they charged me for 3 months and we barely worked together for two.  That was not true, I read my QuickBooks statement wrong.  I was not overcharged.

In what specific areas can they improve?

If they could also add in a layer of an employee that could help with the creative work, that would be very interesting.

How did you select Mayple?

I think the idea is brilliant. You have a system that tracks marketing performance, a manager, and they hire for you a part time marketer. This system is able to be as effective, but cheaper than a part time marketer - in theory.

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

They knew slightly more about facebook advertising than me. (I had never looked at it before). So I did learn a couple things about how they work from them. They used their "targeting" to find an audience - results were over $63 per click. That is sixty-three dollars for each click! After I fired them, I used my own targeting to get $1.65 or less cost per click with the same ad set. They did not save me money on my ads, instead they cost me money.

What was the team composition?

Their team consisted of one woman to sell me on Mayple, one woman to hire a consultant, and one consultant to have meetings with me and do a really bad job of targeting ads.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

no. I definitely had a good learning experience, hiring and firing my first consultants and learning facebook ads and advertising in general for myself.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We had skype calls. They we're in Israel and UK and I was on west coast time, working after hours so it was nearly impossible to get a time that worked for all of us.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

That they billed me 3 months for $1000 each and spent 3 hours at most on my project.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I have had any experience with advertising. After I fired Mayple, I was able to get over 100X lower cost per result with the ad that I created.

Essentially, we help them deliver for their clients, and they help us bring new clients to our agency.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They provided mostly Facebook advertising, which included graphic design, motion design, and ad management. They looked at our website and what we had already done, and they also asked us what we liked. Initially, they did the creative and then we talked with them to see if we liked it or not. They had a 24/7 dashboard where we had access to all the information we needed.

What is the team composition?

We worked with three people. We initially spoke to a sales rep, but we didn’t really talk to them throughout the process. We were in contact with the project manager as well as a Facebook ads manager.

How did you come to work with Mayple?

I found them on Google, and I liked the concept of matching us with an expert.

We spent under $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them around April 2020, and the engagement ended in September 2020.

They were able to take our ROI from 0.5x to 2x.

How did Mayple perform from a project management standpoint?

They were good. They were pretty proactive and would touch base with us often. We used email and Google Meet to communicate with them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I would say that having a good project manager as well as craft experts makes the process better. Sometimes, experts aren’t very good project managers because they don’t want to get on the phone. That was a nice part of working with them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Sometimes it was hard to communicate with the experts. There was a gap between the project manager and the experts where sometimes we needed more information from the actual experts since the project manager didn’t have all the answers we were looking for. I know this is a hard challenge to resolve, but it was important for us.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Although it is a benefit, we still have a third-party between us and the expert. Because of that, we try to be really communicative so the expert gets all the information.

We searched online and found Mayple to be a very recommended agency on various websites (such as this one). Their website looked impressive and interesting too so we decided to contact them.

We answered Mayple's online questionnaire and connected our previous social advertising accounts. We immediately got a dedicated account manager that guided us through and asked us a few more questions. We were impressed by the level of professionalism and thoroughness of this initial process with Mayple. After 2 days we got a detailed audit report of our past digital marketing campaigns and a proposal for a new strategy. After accepting the proposal they started a more detailed work with us.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I saw many strategy files in the past, but the strategy we got from Mayple was definitely the most professional, through and smart strategy I ever got from an agency. They were referring to every aspect of our business, including KPIs, operation, target audience and more, and built a strategy that was both goals oriented and simple to understand and implement.

We are following this strategy and see very good results. Mayple helps us monitor our campaigns and keep us focus on the activities that would make the most impact on our business.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The fact that we had both an account manager and a professional strategy expert was a bit confusing when we started off, but after a while I understood the value of it. Daniel, our account manager is our go-to-guy for everything-digital and beyond.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their level of professionalism and knowledge in digital marketing is very high compared to anything I've experienced before from other vendors. We feel like they really care about us succeeding.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The technical part of the advertising accounts connection was not so intuitive at start, especially if you don't have experience with doing this before, and needs a human support (that we got).

We started by defining our business needs better and build a plan based on the actual goals we wanted to achieve. My Google ad account and my website were reviewed, and I got a report that showed me what was missing in our previous campaign and the actions that Mayple is going to take in order to fix that. I then got a full keywords list with prioritization.

I had a long call with the Mayple expert and the account manager (the Maypler) together, where they explained in details the SEO and PPC strategy they think we should take. They also built dedicated landing pages to help with lead-gen. After my approval, the campaign was built. I can see all my ads and their results on Mayple’s platform. I get monthly reports from Mayple on how my campaigns will keep improving. They really keep me in the know and help understand the bit and bites of my marketing.

Results had definitely gone better than before. We get much more clicks for each pound we spend. The account manager became the company's go-to-expert with any marketing dilemma we had. The team is very responsive and really cared about our success. They didn't let us spend our money on paid campaigns before they made sure the website will help the campaign to succeed.

The work went fast, so we were live with the campaign within 3 weeks since the project started.

You need to manage each expert as a new project on the platform, but the platform itself is very easy to use and arranged all of the activity in one place.
