Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm a UX designer at Chainformation AB – we create tools that supports multi unit organisations in their daily work. I'm responsible for the overall product design and user experience.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire MaxyLogic?

We hired MaxyLogic to rebuild one of our existing mobile apps in a different framework than our original app. Since we lacked skills within this framework in our internal team.

What were your goals for this project?

Our mobile app was built using a framework that is being outdated, we are rebuilding it using Flutter in order to make it more future proof. We are currently developing both the released version and the new Flutter version. The Flutter app is still an ongoing project that will be released publically during q4 this year.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We posted an ad for the project on AppWorks, looking for a Flutter developer. We got a lot of responses, we did not go through all of them. This vendor had a description and portfolio of past projects seemed to match our requirements. We held one interview prior to hiring them. Our product owner and UX designer was invovled in the hiring process.

Describe the project in detail.

We needed a developer with good knowledge and skills in the Flutter mobile app framework as well as good experience working with API:s. The mobile app is developed both for iOS and Android and it is a complement mobile app for a large web application.

We provide the vendor with documentation, wireframes and guidelines needed in order to develop a Flutter version of our already existing mobile app. The vendor is responsible only for deveopment.

What was the team composition?

We initially hired just one person, Maxim. Thinking he was going to be our only developer for this project. It seems that this changed overtime as Maxim transitioned into a project manager on the vendor's side as he hired another developer to work on the project. So the people on the vendor side seems to be 2 persons. However our communication is only with one of them.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

This is still an ongoing project and we still have a lot of work ahead of us before we are at the point of a public release. But so we are happy with the product developed so far, we see good potential in the project and we hope for a public or beta release during q4 2020.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Me and our product owner have weekly video meetings with Maxim to discuss the progress from last week and discuss any questions or problems that may have come up. We also use these meetings to plan the future work.

Other than this we communicate via Skype and Jira as needed. MaxyLogic also have daily communication with our offshore developers to coordinate required API changes etc. Communication between both teams is working well.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We are very happy with their communication skills, the team has no problem understanding our goals and needs.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We always want our developers to think ahead of themselves when it comes to logic and architecture and not stare themselves blind on the described functionality. And we also want them to have some sort of feeling about visual design and user experience. We feel that MaxyLogic is already showing improvement in this area – while there's still room for even more improvement.

Improved internal processes (issue tracking, source control, etc.) and tighter integration between our mobile & web apps.

Initially introduced via Upwork, then collaborated on an open source project beforehand.

The project is ongoing. MaxyLogic helped us improve internal processes and hit a number of key milestones in our mobile app's roadmap.

We dealt with Maxim at MaxyLogic. He joined our mobile team comprised of a project lead and another full-time developer.

Positive feedback from other team members, and key milestones hit in our product roadmap.

We dealt with Maxim. He effortlessly integrated into our existing team.

Great communication skills and a strong understanding of current technologies.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Overall great. Scheduling additional time for QA could be improved.

I’m the CEO of a digital development company that’s been in business since 2002.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with MaxyLogic?

We had limited resources to complete an app-transfer project for our client. This particular client had been dissatisfied with their previous development team, so it was urgent that we retain them through a speedy yet high-quality delivery.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

MaxyLogic was tasked with rewriting a hybrid app—built in React Native—into a native Android app.

What is the team composition?

I worked with 2–3 people, which included a project manager and a developer.

How did you come to work with MaxyLogic?

I was researching development companies through freelancing websites. They stuck out to me, so I decided to go with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent somewhere between $5000­–$10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our work together began in October and wrapped up a couple of weeks ago in December 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

MaxyLogic successfully delivered the product, which saved the situation. Their team’s work allowed me to maintain my client and ensure future development with them.

How did MaxyLogic perform from a project management standpoint?

I’ve worked with several development teams, and I can tell that MaxyLogic knows exactly how to manage a project. They’re fluent in communication; they ask the right questions and work in an agile way.

They even worked through a few weekends to ensure successful delivery. I’m really grateful for their commitment to the project.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was impressed by their ability to deliver upon their promise. They were able to execute a fairly complex app in the designated time crunch. The quality of their work is outstanding.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’d have to nitpick but I can only see room for improvement in their onboarding process. In the first couple of days, I was a little lost, so they could have slightly better communication. Having said that, they’ve done very well overall.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure to define your objectives and goals very clearly. Do your research beforehand, if your project asks for it.
