SEI also organizes annual workshops for standardization of diagnostic immunology tests for immunochemistry, allergy, autoimmunity and cellular immunology.

In addition, SEI runs the External Quality Assurance for Diagnostic Immunology Laboratories program (GECLID) that monitors immunology interlaboratory quality data in collaboration with the British UKNEQAS platform.

Finally, SEI hosts the online journal “Inmunologia” for the dissemination of articles, reviews, meeting reports, journal clubs and other educational activities.

SEICOV app has been developed as a collaborative effort between Bayesia (France), who provides the Artificial Intelligence software, Mount Sinai School of Medicine and the Spanish Society for Immunology.

SEICoV has been developed by Massoftind.com and was funded by the Spanish Society for Immunology. The project was coordinated by Dr. Jordi Ochando, at the Spanish Society for Immunology, together with Dr. Manisha Brahmachary, bioinformatician at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and Lionel Jouffe, cofounder and CEO of Bayesia.

This app has been made available to help differentiate the symptoms between common cold, flu and COVID-19. The results are not a diagnostic test but only an orientation and do not replace professional medical advice

Develop an app to discriminate between symptoms of COVID-19, flu and cold.

Bayesian networks are recognized as powerful tools for risk analysis and decision support and have become a popular model for clinical decision support systems (CDSS). Their importance in the care setting is due to their ability to:

1. model complex problems with causal dependencies where a significant degree of uncertainty exists;
2. combine different sources of information including empirical data and expert opinion;
3. have an interpretable graphic structure; and
4. model interventions in both diagnostic and prognostic ways.

Consequently, Bayesian networks are as robust as medical diagnostics designed by clinicians. The mobile application has been designed according to bibliographic research published in international indexed journals and the expert knowledge of physicians, epidemiologists, and virologists.

The growing number of SASR-CoV-2 infections has led to an urgent need to expand monitoring and follow-up activities to control the epidemiology of the virus and characterize its potential impact. The infection capacity of SASR-CoV-2 poses an unprecedented challenge for early detection of symptoms associated with cold, influenza and COVID-19.

Thus, there is a need for an adaptive platform of real-time data analysis covering the spectrum of subclinical and acute presentations of cold, influenza and COVID-19 for early detection and differentiation of disease through symptoms.

Addressing this priority will enable more accurate estimates of the incidence of these diseases, inform risk mitigation strategies, more effectively allocate testing resources, and enable appropriate quarantine and treatment of those affected.

The Artificial Intelligence engine, a probabilistic expert system (Bayesian network), has been designed by Bayesia in collaboration with several doctors from different institutes, including the Hôpital Foch (France), the University of Mons (Belgium), and the Hospital Universitario Donostia (Spain).

I can't tell you how glad we are to have chosen them.

The project manager assigned to us was courteous and friendly. He was always there whenever we needed him: even during holidays. He ensured the project execution was flawless and everything went as planned. As far as tools are concerned, we mostly used Slack and Jira for centralized communication.
