Brew Bomb manufactures commercial Cold Brew machines for scaling specialty crafted Cold Brew Coffee in 2-4 hours. I am President and COO of the company responsible for all sales and operations.

For what projects/services did your company hire Mass FX Media?

We hired Mass FX to develop a set of video's in order to enable Brew Bomb to market the launch of a new product into the Retail Coffee Industry. We needed a company who had the creativity and expertise to develop an extremely professional video using 3D animation to help position and communication our product value proposition. We realized our new product was sophisticated and therefore difficult to market effectively so we were looking for a firm who had the skills and creativity to help us achieve our goals.

What were your goals for this project?

To create three to four concise video's to be placed on our web site as well as through social media channels to effectively communication the value proposition of this new product. The primary goal of this product is market awareness and grab attention through a creative and slick set of video's. In addition we intend to use for sales presentations and product awareness. We plan to measure success by monitoring and tracking sales leads as we launch these video's through our marketing channels.

How did you select this vendor?

We put together an RFP for our specific video development needs and sent to over eight vendors in the Denver area. The criterion for selection were quality, references, vision and a defined process for managing the project. We choice Mass FX for a number of reasons but the primary decision was base on their quality of work, creativity they brought to our discussions and the formality of their process. They scored the highest in all categories. They were not the least expensive but their value and credibility and creativity was extremely impressive.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.

The overall scope of the project was end to end including strategy, scripting, storyboarding, filming, animation, production and voice over. The project included some detailed 3D animation to promote and articulate some technical function of our product The process implemented by Mass FX was extremely competent and professional. From the beginning (including the RFP Process) they lead us through a process that involved collaboration, input with key milestones and deliverables. They were extremely responsive, ahead of schedule and they kept us on track to ensure we met our tight deadline and schedule.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

Mass FX had a best in class project management process with schedule, milestones, due dates that were based on our initial targeted completion date. In addition to keeping the process flowing they provided extremely intuitive tools for providing input and feedback. These tools not only speed up the process but they provided easy way for us to provide feedback that they in turn incorporated into the material.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We are still early in the process and going through a global pandemic which skews the measures of success slightly but our web site activity has significantly increased, our social followers are growing and our sales process is accelerated when the customer reviews the main video content. We have only launched one social media clip and have far exceeded our hit rates which was a primary goal.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

As mentioned previously Mass FX is an extremely professional organization with quality people end to end. They are efficient, focused, flexible and creative and were delightful to work with in this project.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their professionalism, responsiveness, creativity and process. All of these lead to a superior product and a pleasant working experience. In addition to their process, Mass FX has a specialty with 3D animation which is evident in our video's.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Honestly I cannot think of any improvement area.

I’m an account director at a digital marketing and PR agency. I’m responsible for managing client goals and keeping our internal teams on track with timelines. I also coordinate with vendors and serve as a project manager for certain accounts.

Our agency was working with a client that was launching a new service. We were hired to help with a variety of marketing and public relations tasks (e.g. launch the website and social media). The client also wanted a video to help with brand awareness and explain the new company. We hired Mass FX Media to complete the video component.

What were your goals for this project?

Goals of this video included providing a clear introduction to the new service as well as an overview of it. It would also explain the value the services would provide for customers.

We intended to put the video on the website and share it on social channels. The video would generate enough interest in the new service that viewers would feel the desire to learn more. Ideally, they would continue engaging the site and/or begin the signup process.

I wasn’t involved in the selection process. My boss, the president of our agency, was the one who introduced me.

Once we selected Mass FX Media, they started working with us to get to know our client and the video goals. They handled everything, including the script, storyboard, animation, production, and voiceover work. 

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

We had one project manager, and we also met with 2-3 other people at the company when Mass FX Media was learning more about the client. The feedback process was great—we had several rounds of feedback, and it always went smoothly.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

There are no metrics yet, but the client has been very pleased with the final video.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was very productive, and we worked well together. The timeline was clear, and the team was always available if we ever had any questions. I appreciated the transparency of understanding their process from the very beginning. 

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We were impressed by their creativity and organization—everything was great! We worked with another video company around the same time for another project, and that experience wasn’t as good. I kept saying they were nothing like Mass FX Media!

No, we were very satisfied.

I’m the director of creative development for a film production company. We create films dedicated to telling stories that solve problems and campaigns that create an impact.

What challenge were you trying to address with Mass FX Media?

We hired Mass FX Media to help us create graphics and animations for feature documentary with concepts that were often hard to visualize through documentary footage.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Mass FX Media helped us create visualizations and animations for one of our documentaries. We dove deeply into the concept and brainstormed ways to create visuals based around it. For this film, we needed to convey several concepts through imagery and graphics. They created visual representations of the concepts in our film that aligned with the film’s story and our stylistic vision. Along with this, they compiled unprecedented time-lapse footage, and also helped visualize graphs and other elements of the film. They managed and executed all steps of the graphical animation portion of this project, including the compositing and editing processes of the time-lapses.

This project included a vast range of people from around the world, including the support of Mass FX Media’s team.

How did you come to work with Mass FX Media?

We worked previously with Mass FX Media on several other projects. When we needed a team for this project, we were excited to use their team because of their skill set, attitude, and proximity.

We’ve been working together since around 2014.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Working with Mass FX Media added immense value to our documentary. They helped us portray a thoughtful, creative story with a unique style and element of fun. Their support contributed to our film’s success.

How did Mass FX Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They were extremely organized and responsive to our needs. From budgeting and scheduling to executing the work, they were on top of everything and understood our requirements. We share documents through a portal and provided feedback through phone calls, emails, and in-person meetings.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their tenacity and continuous pursuit of producing high-quality work stood out. They truly stopped at nothing to deliver strong work that went above and beyond our expectations. They brought our project to life in a way not all companies take the time to do.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s nothing I can think of for them to improve except that I wish we could clone them to work on more of our projects. Although their availability is sometimes limited, they’re a highly sought-after company and they did a good job balancing their time.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure all parties are on the same page at the beginning of the engagement. If you express your expectations for the creative work, you’ll set the project up for success. Ensuring there are feedback loops in place to ensure the design work is on track, you’ll save both teams from an arduous process of redoing steps.

I’m the executive director of the Imagine! Foundation, the fundraising arm of Imagine! We provide services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Their team has created videos that feature someone being served by the organization, along with their family. They form story arcs that help guests see the value Imagine! plays in their lives and how they impact their community.

After an initial meeting, we develop the story flow between our teams. Once we film, their team provides a platform to review the video and give feedback. Mass FX Media is incredibly responsive.

With the help of Mass FX Media, we raise more and more money each year. We’re able to use each video they’ve created on our social media to increase the foundation’s reach.

We wanted a video that spoke to the benefits and uses of our product. We ultimately wanted to raise brand awareness for our company and highlight the versatility of our platform.

We chose Mass FX Media because we’d worked with them in the past and were pleased with the result. They were patient and understanding in the previous project, so we felt they were the right choice.

To begin, Mass FX Media established a production schedule. Together, we created a questionnaire to help them fulfill our needs and help us establish our requirements for on-screen content. They worked on the location, lighting, sound, and editing aspects of the production. After they delivered the first edit, we cut down the content for length. We went through two more rounds of revisions and the final product was perfectly on-brand.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

The schedule they created ensured everything was delivered on time. Their team didn’t let any deadlines slip away and they met all our milestones. Throughout the project, they’ve demonstrated exceptional organization skills and they haven’t let us down.

What challenge were you trying to address with Mass FX Media?

We were launching a new strategic initiative and our president was hosting an event to inform our school’s students and faculty. We hired Mass FX Media to create a 2-minute animated video for the launch. We wanted it to put our ideas into context and raise enthusiasm for the program. The goal was to have a video we could use at presentations and events to inform our audience about our strategic plan.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

My staff wrote the scripts for the animations and gave Mass FX Media a specific layout of what needed to be on screen. We also provided an example video that matched the tone, pacing, and animation style we wanted.

Once they received our script, the production of the videos began. Mass FX Media provided three options with different animation styles so we had choices. Their team found the individual to create the music and sound for the video, as well. They sent us their drafts throughout the project and we went through multiple rounds of edits before they produced the final version.

Our main point of contacts were Shawna (President, Mass FX Media) and another producer. They are spearheading the process and communicate with their team on our behalf.

One of our team members had known of Mass FX Media and we followed their recommendation. We reached out to them and they sent us a bid. After reviewing their work, we were confident they were a match for this project.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project lasted from June–September 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The final product was wonderful and has been a success. We’re still using the video as a main focal point on our website and during all of our president’s presentations. The audience has consistently given us great feedback and people seem to love it. We’ve heard only positive responses to the video.

How did Mass FX Media perform from a project management standpoint?

The entire process was explicitly laid out and we were aware of each step Mass FX Media took. Their team was very detail-oriented and ahead of time with estimates and updates. They were responsive and available if we needed to call them for any issue or idea. Their approach helped run the project smoothly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their creativity in the animation process was valuable to us—we got everything we asked for. Their team was welcoming of our ideas and receptive to our feedback. They never made us feel like we were just another customer and they made time for us, which was fantastic.

We ran into some issues with the initial candidate Mass FX Media chose for the sound aspect of the video. However, once we expressed that this style of music wasn’t matching our vision, they quickly found the perfect person for the job.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Since it’s a creative process, give them time to figure out your vision. If you approach them with a clear idea and are patient, they’ll produce something great.

Please describe your company and your position there.

I’m a physicist and education researcher at the University of Colorado Boulder in the Center for STEM Learning. I was formerly associated with the physics department, Science Education Initiative, and PhET Interactive Simulations projects, for which the video work was done. I’ve been involved in science education projects at CU for over a decade, and currently direct the CU TRESTLE initiative.

We wanted to disseminate and demonstrate best practices for using different educational technologies in K12 and college classrooms.

How did you select this vendor?

I worked with different members of Mass FX media while they were students at CU. When they started their own company, I continued to hire them because of the excellent work they’d done for us already.

We developed storyboards for the videos, drew from existing footage, and identified new footage to film. This led to an initial edit from Mass FX Media. We then iterated the final film through extensive back-and-forth editing on paper, as well as through their development of new rough cuts.

We received multiple rounds of round draft videos for us to review. They also provided feedback on written documents to help guide us.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Mass FX Media helped us produce two videos: “The use of clickers to enhance student learning” and “Effective use of the PhET interactive simulations.” We’ve heard very positive feedback from users. The videos on clickers remain a go-to resource for the STEM college community to demonstrate how this technique can be well-used. The PhET videos have reached hundreds of thousands of viewers.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

It’s a pleasure to work with the Mass FX Media team. They’re cheerful and willing to help at every turn. Their project management is second-to-none. Even through extensive edits, we never felt that our requests were a burden; rather, they work extremely hard to make sure the product fit our needs. They deliver technically high-quality work.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Both their technical capability and their workflow are impressive. They’re a joy to work with, and delivered final products that were beyond what we could have hoped.

I’m the manager of Denver Startup Week and the innovation programs manager of the Downtown Denver Partnership. We hold a collection of events and networking opportunities for programmers and tech-minded people in the Denver area. Specifically, Denver Startup Week is the largest free local entrepreneurial event of its kind. It’s a five-day conference held every year in September.

What challenge were you trying to address with Mass FX Media?

We worked with the Mass FX Media team to create several videos to promote Denver Startup Week and certain aspects of the conference that were tough to communicate. Generally, we wanted to get our local community excited about the event.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Mass FX Media created two different types of videos for us, and they really hit the mark with each kind.

First, they made a graphical video that narrated our Denver Startup Report, an annual document that provides detailed information on local startups and the entrepreneurial community growing within our city. Mass FX Media shared data in a very engaging and clear way that resonated with our target audience.

The second project was a collection of six videos, each addressing a different aspect of Denver Startup Week. Mass FX Media interviewed some of the chairs of our organization who described the different tracks we offer at the event and what to expect with each one. They combined this content with B-roll to give viewers a comprehensive overview of everything we offer. We still have these videos on our website today, and we use them to promote Denver Startup Week each year.

What is the team composition?

There were about three people involved in the initial planning process. Once we started working, I had two main points of contact who were supported by a full team of five.

How did you come to work with Mass FX Media?

They reached out to us with the idea of creating the graphical video. We’d considered video content in the past, but we never had the budget to move forward with it. After coming to a cost agreement, we started on the project. We were so impressed by their work on the first initiative; we asked them to help us with the interview-style videos as well.

How much have you invested with them?

The total valuation of their work is about $75,000, but we had a sponsorship agreement in place, so we didn’t actually pay that price.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I don’t have the exact number of views for the videos on hand, but Mass FX Media’s work was hugely successful from our perspective. We’ve received unanimously positive feedback, emails, and reviews from viewers. The quality of their visual work is better than anything we could’ve done on our own. Overall, we enjoyed working with the Mass FX Media team to bring our event and message to life.

How did Mass FX Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very professional, managing a seamless workflow. Mass FX Media communicated responsively and met all of our deadlines. They were very on top of the project. Everyone was always on the same page. They would openly detail what they needed from our end and what we should expect from them.

I’ve worked with a lot of different vendors, but the Mass FX Media team stands out for their reliability. I never had to worry about them falling short of our needs and expectations. They were professional, productive, and very efficient, which helped them generate a great outcome.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I most appreciated their level of creativity. They brought a great idea to the table and helped us workshop it to make sure it accurately fit with our brand. I’m blown away by the results. Mass FX Media was an ideal partner for this project, so it was a pretty stress-free engagement on our end.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, nothing comes to mind. The first video submissions weren’t perfect, but they willingly iterated with us and incorporated our feedback at each stage.

Any advice for potential customers?

Clients should tap into their team’s level of creativity. The best thing we did was give them the freedom to play around with the project. We didn’t overly dictate the engagement with strict guidelines, which allowed them to use their full scope of creativity.

I’m the owner of a corporate documentary production firm based in Houston, Texas. We do a lot of work in the oil & gas and energy sector, as well as for nonprofits and technology startups.

What challenge were you trying to address with Mass FX Media? 

We get a lot of projects that require high-end graphics that require compositing backgrounds or floating graphics. The graphics teams that we previously used were not able to deliver the required quality.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

In total, we've done four or five projects together so far. One of our clients was a consulting firm, and our job to explain what they do. Mass FX Media worked with our copywriters to figure out the best way to tackle a complex subject matter through animation and archival footage. They helped not only guide the script of what will go on the screen but in managing the timeline as well. They were a tough customer but Mass FX Media helped us create a great video and client experience. 

They’ve also worked with us on two Kickstarter projects. They did composite graphics and logo animation for a video of the Little Sophia project that just went live on Kickstarter a couple of days ago. They also did graphics for a high-tech product where they spread it out so that people can see all the small components that go into it. It was a really cool graphic that helped the audience understand all the technical capabilities of this product.

We work with their senior motion graphics designer and a producer, as well as with Matt and Shawna (Co-founders, Mass FX Media). 

How did you come to work with Mass FX Media?

I went to film school with Matt and Shawna. We stayed in touch after we all left college. They're the first call I make when I need high-end graphics.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together on an off for about five years.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

As a result of showing the work they’ve done for us to prospective clients, we brought in about $100,000–$150,000 worth of work in 2018. That's a nice amount of funds for our company to produce new work.

The best thing is that it's an organic cycle. As I have new pieces from Mass FX Media, I'm going to be able to send those graphics to new prospective clients. Each design they produce is better than the one before. They definitely bring up the caliber and value of our company. They take my ideas and make designs that are much more beautiful than what I’d envisioned. I keep coming back to Mass FX Media because their work blows my mind. 

How did Mass FX Media perform from a project management standpoint? 

Their team gets a 10 out of 10. They have a system set up so that nothing ever falls behind. Typically it’s a rushed timeline as graphics are often one of the last things to do on a project. Mass FX Media not only meet our timeline expectations but are also able to pivot if needed to absorb the impact of a client who wants to add more graphics. It’s very easy for us as we just say what we want to do and they’re off and running. The producer serves as the project manager. She makes sure things are running on time and that I respond to requests. I also love getting on the phone with Matt and Shawna to throw ideas around. It’s really fun to brainstorm with them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their creativity is amazing. When I explain a project and what I envision, they absorb it and return with something really beautiful. They’re also excellent at the business side of things. When we ask for a quote or an invoice, they'll get it to us right away. We don't have any issues in terms of working with friends because they handle any problems in such a professional way. 

Are there any areas they could improve? 

I wish they cost less, but they're totally worth it because their graphics help us sell new business to prospective clients. There's not much else in terms of constructive feedback. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers? 

The most important thing is to have clarity around what you need. Try not to be vague. Utilize Mass FX Media to brainstorm because they're great at coming up with solutions. Know the outcome you want and provide them the proper feedback. They will make sure the project runs smoothly, and then take your idea to a whole new level.
