I’m an executive for SaaS platform that provides services to hospitals and universities.

We hired MarsDevs for staff augmentation.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our technical team normally takes care of onboarding the developers from MarsDevs to work on our product. We provide them with documentation on our processes and how we work, and then give them tasks and training for different projects we need to build. 

MarsDevs provides us with full stack developers, but our platform specifically uses a Python and Django framework on the backend and Vue.js on the frontend. The platform the developers are working on includes functionalities like scheduling, performance evaluations, and automation of the performance evaluations for employees and trainees.
It also has modules for onboarding, logging hours, and curriculum development. The SaaS platform is used by many employees at various hospitals and covers about 15 different modules. Occasionally, the developers coordinate with our technical team for architecture discussions, but they usually just handle development.

We work with four full stack developers and work directly with the CEO of MarsDevs.

Overall, we’ve been happy with their quality of work, and when we need someone new, MarsDevs has been able to find someone reliable. 

How did MarsDevs perform from a project management standpoint?

We don’t have any specific measurements for project management, but whenever we’ve needed something in a certain amount of time, they’ve been able to deliver, even if that means working outside of regular hours. We use Jira and GitLab for project management and communicate via Zoom, Slack, and Google Meet. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We have a great relationship with MarsDevs and know they care. They collaborate with our developers, understand our requirements, and we have effective communication with them. We’ve appreciated the personal relationships we’ve been able to build. Their CEO is also a very experienced developer. We’ve appreciated working with him because when we have technical needs, he’s always been able to handle them, which we think is an added value. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They’re a smaller team, so they might not be the best fit for larger companies. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would give this advice when working with any offshore development team, but just make sure that you have proper internal processes and team members to manage the work. Having an internal review process and architecting is always helpful to ensure that everything is moving in the right direction.
