I'm a founder of tech startup Fantasy Match. Fantasy Match is the sex education platform and community for open-minded couples and solos. With Fantasy Match, users can discover sexual fantasies & other sex ed content, invite partners to see mutual fantasies and to swipe for new ones, and connect with new people with the same lifestyle.

I wanted to relaunch my existing website into a contemporary & stylish web-presence of our business. Except of redesign, we wanted to make a lot of improvements in terms of SEO optimization and website performance.

The main goals were: 1) implement new product web-site design 2) dramatically increase web-site performance, and as a result, to have a better ranking in Google and other search engines

I met Serge, the CEO of Markupus, at one of the offline events. I was impressed by their portfolio and decided to give them a try with a list of small changes. The task was completed successfully and I hired guys to work on a full scope of re-development.

It’s a marketing website for our core product — iOS app. It describes how the app works, company details, team, media, etc. All the content is available in two languages - English and Russian. We've made a specification where we formulated all of the changes, new features, and improvements they were going to implement.

I worked with a dedicated project manager, front-end and back-end developers.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

After implementing all of the tasks we saw a dramatic increase in Google PageSpeed and higher SEO rankings. The UX of website admin panel became much more user-friendly and now it takes less time for content managers to manage / update / add new content. At the end of the day, the website looks amazing, and it's all browsers and devices friendly.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

PM created a private channel in Slack where we all communicated. Several times we had group video calls and I even visited their office once.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I’m impressed by the speed of all my requests and the way guys form communicating. We are a startup and our requirements were changing several times during the development process. Guys are very agile & friendly. With their help, we've managed to ship the results in time!

Markupus is a very professional team, really nothing to add.

We needed a partner who could quickly and accurately reproduce our designs in WordPress, and not require a huge amount of oversight. Quality of communication was a critical factor for success.

Markupus were recommended to us by one of our clients. He is particularly design focused, so we knew their work would have to be pixel-perfect to get a recommendation from him! We made a trip overseas to meet with some potential suppliers at their local offices in Eastern Europe, and were impressed by Serge and his team.

They provided HTML/CSS/JS code, as well as WordPress integration. The markup was pixel perfect against the designs. All code was managed in source control (Bitbucket). They also introduced us to a DevOps parter, who helps manage our staging server. This was great, because they could work together to handle our deploys etc.

We've worked with their project manager Art, as well as 3-4 different developers.

The most important aspect is that we can trust Markupus to deliver high quality WordPress sites on time - this allows us to focus on other aspects of our business where we can add more value.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Markupus seem flexible in their approach to project management - we use monday.com to plan projects and also communicate a lot via Slack. They are good are responding to messages quickly, and are clear about timelines etc.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Serge and his team are genuinely pleased to provide a high level of service, and to build a personal relationship. It is clear they value us as a long term partner. This sets them apart from other suppliers for us.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Not really - they've been very responsive to any suggestions we've made for changing our workflow, and are always actively developing their skills and team.

Their team’s approach to project management is excellent. Because I am based in the Netherlands, most of our communication is via Slack channels. Markupus is very responsive and quickly clears up any questions or miscommunications.

Aside from their great development skills, I was impressed with their level of design knowledge. This made our process and collaborations run very smoothly. I plan to continue our partnership going forward.

Markupus supplies one project manager who expertly manages any and all developers assigned to our project. The developers do change occasionally, but they do all of the onboarding/training on their own.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We are able to focus on design instead of development. They allow us to work more closely with clients and focus our time on strategy and UX.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

They provide a project manager and we communicate via a special website that we set up. It works very well and we also use Zeplin for project collaboration.They don't have as many opportunities to talk directly due to time zone. Our developers are sometimes was busier with other projects, but overall, they still work quickly.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their speed and communication skills impress us. 

Are there any areas where they can improve?

They do a great job coding interactions when clearly defined, but when we ask them to build hovers and interactions of their choice, they sometimes struggle to find appropriate, intuitive interactions. Sometimes, we don't have the time to specify every interaction, so having this built intuitively during the development would be very helpful.

They first helped migrate our old site from Magento 1 to Magento 2, and then to Shopify. They also worked on advanced frontend development for our the site and are currently doing the same for our newest website.

Our migrations were developed and launched early than expected. The updated UX/UI and migrations increased sales, conversions, the time spent on site, and decreased bounce and error rates. Our content managers, data analysts, and other employees spend 3-5 hours less each week to get work done due to the easy-to-use interfaces.

Markupus' project management is one of their strongest qualities. They provide great project managers that are always very friendly and keep their promises. They worked on each project somewhere between two months to four months while other well-known companies estimated 6–8 months.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They always deliver perfect results faster than expected.

This company is simply perfect. I'd work with them even if they charged double their current rate.

We needed a partner who could consistently deliver end-to-end builds with minimal supervision. The company needed to be able to operate independently in the background, and this is hard to find in the offshore freelancer/agency space.

We found a number of firms online, shortlisted them based on the applications they had delivered, and shortlisted again after a live video interview.

We have created a workflow for projects that need development services. We provide technical specifications and process drawings/wireframes, which Markupus analyses. We also do a video call to resolve any questions or uncertainties. They complete the design over the next week, which we review with the client and go through any final adjustments needed. Markupus then provides an estimate on the development work based on our client’s timeline and budget. After getting approval, they move on to development work, followed by internal testing. We oversee user acceptance testing and content entry, and Markupus manages the site’s eventual launch.
