I’m the co-founder of a fitness company, and I also take care of sales, automation, and a bit of the operations side. We have roughly 20 employees, and our first sale on Shopify was last May 28. We started our company during the pandemic, so we had to build everything quickly.

What challenge were you trying to address with Makro Agency?

Essentially, we had very little e-commerce experience when we started. As a result, we looked for an agency that would be able to help us with our technical e-commerce needs, specifically on Shopify. 

Marketing was also a big challenge for us, and that includes developing the website, retargeting flows for our customers, ad targeting, and more. That’s why we looked for an external partner that could help us with all of the abovementioned areas since we had very basic knowledge about them.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Makro Agency developed our Shopify site from scratch. Before they came in, we had a very basic template. While they were building the new platform, we still kept the old one.

The team also manages our Google and Facebook campaigns. Additionally, they take care of all our email retargeting and SEO efforts. Overall, they provide an ecosystem where we can rely on automation.

I’m in direct contact with Mike (Founder) and he has taken care of everything for us. 

How did you come to work with Makro Agency?

We’re a Montreal-based company and during the pandemic, we wanted to work with local agencies. As a result, I searched for Shopify experts on Google, and Makro Agency was one of the companies we came across. I had few calls with other agencies, but I didn’t find them as responsive as Mike. 

We also saw that he understood our vision, and he knew where we wanted to go. Moreover, he was able to give us very quick timelines, and that’s what convinced us that they were the right fit.

We initially agreed on a contract that’s roughly $20,000.

We worked with Marko Agency in July 2020, and we continue to partner with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

They’ve made our site instantly better. Within a few weeks or months of working with Makro, we saw significant results from their SEO efforts. Most importantly, our conversions have been increasing while our ad spends stayed the same — that’s a really good way to see that they’re doing an excellent job.

We also saw revenues going up significantly. Overall, they’ve made a big difference in our business, and they’ve done everything they said they would.

How did Makro Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

I remember we’ve been in a bunch of calls, but I’m not sure which tools they’ve been using since I’m not focused on anything related to marketing. What I can say is that in every meeting that we’ve had, the team has delivered on every deadline we’ve given them. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Mike has the ability to understand what we want to do and give advice. As I’ve said, we had an idea, but we didn’t have concrete technical skills in order to do them. That’s why we appreciated Makro Agency’s willingness to explain our problems and come up with solutions to resolve them.

Another thing that stands out the most is their incredible execution of solutions and because of that, we’ve had an amazing experience with them.

Honestly, we’ve been very satisfied with Makro Agency’s services, and everything’s going according to plan. I can’t see anything that they can improve.

I’m the founder and president of Dyna Performance. We have an e-commerce website that sells various car parts such as steering wheels and interior modifications. We’ll get into exterior modifications eventually.

What challenge were you trying to address with Makro Agency?

When I hired them, it was to completely revamp our website. The challenge was that I was just about to start an engagement with a new factory that was bringing in over a hundred different parts for different vehicles.

For context, we only had about 10 vehicles before working with Makro Agency. Now, we were about to onboard one hundred more vehicles. A lot of challenges were associated with bringing in those vehicles. We had to set up a section of our website for users to easily navigate and find the proper parts for their vehicles.  

One of our biggest objectives was to allow my customers to customize their steering wheel directly on our website. It was vital that they see a preview of how each specific part of the steering wheel would look. That was a challenge because there are so many different options and permutations. We had to figure out a solution that could do this.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Makro Agency handled a complete redesign from scratch. I already had collections, but they had to do a lot of modifications for us to onboard the new vehicles. I was formerly on Shopify, but they revamped everything.

Since they completed the website, Makro Agency now handles my Google Ads; we recently started doing Facebook Ads too. Their team does small tweaks for me including automating the import process for my products.

I work with Michael (CEO). He assigns tasks to his team members.

How did you come to work with Makro Agency?

I was at a coffee shop and heard the people next to me talking about e-commerce. I spoke with them and they mentioned that they redo websites. I met with them but wasn’t sold on their service. That led me to conduct a Google search and Makro Agency was the first organic result.

I was impressed with their portfolio and website so I scheduled a call with them. During our conversation, everything clicked immediately. Michael was nice and seemed very helpful. Their prices were fair so I decided to give them a chance.

I’ve invested around $30,000 CAD (approximately $23,000 USD).

Our ongoing engagement started in January 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Almost immediately following the start of the Google Ads efforts, I received a 10x return on ad spend, which is insane. I really enjoyed the experience. They were willing to help me with things outside of the scope. Their team really went above and beyond.

I was only planning on hiring them for the website but I enjoyed their service so much that I’m still working with them and plan to do so in the long term. I’m extremely satisfied with their service and happy with their work ethic.

How did Makro Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management is great. They always meet deadlines.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They always go above and beyond. When I ask for something, they provide multiple solutions. We go through everything together and figure out what the best option is. Michael always does more than what I ask for. Just from speaking with him, I can tell he’s a very humble and authentic person; I respect that a lot.

No, nothing comes to mind.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be clear about your objectives. Make sure to list your goals and everything you’re looking for. Let Makro Agency do their job. If you ever feel that something is wrong, mention it to them and they’ll handle it immediately. They'll find a solution that meets your needs.

We started with them on branding, content creation, and development of our first website. Most recently, we finished working on our newest website on Shopify. They provided photographers to take photos of our products for the new site.

Throughout every stage of the project, there were always updates and good communication. The project went smoothly and efficiently, and they helped with their opinion when I was indecisive about things. Overall, it was a seamless and quick process.

How did Makro Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

They met all of our deadlines. Most times, they even finished a bit earlier. We used email, calls, and a project management tool to keep in touch. We even met in person once, which was great.

What did you find most impressive about them?

When I had to discuss the design with the designers, or pictures with the photographers, they had been briefed beforehand, so there was no unnecessary repetition. There were a lot of follow-ups, too, which I appreciated.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, nothing comes to mind. They’re still available if I need them for anything. Even though the project ended, it didn’t end the relationship.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Have a clear idea of what you want. If you don’t know what you want, Makro Agency can also help you start off, but you should definitely have a business plan and an idea. If you don’t know where your brand is going, they can definitely help you with that, too. They’re a one-stop-shop.

I went to school with Mike, so I knew what he was working on through social media. From there, I reached out and we started working together.

We worked together from January–May 2020. It took a bit longer because our team was undecided on what we wanted, so it wasn’t Makro Agency’s fault that the project ran long.

Their service was incredible.

We could ask them an unlimited amount of questions; they were never reluctant to help us. Any time we wanted to call or text, they’d answer right away. We mainly used email, phone, and Facebook Messenger. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were particular about what we wanted. For example, the business cards needed to be redone a few times and Mike was never reluctant and got it done right away. I had a million questions and they answered all of them. Other companies would push back. They were incredible to work with—their team was so kind and professional. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there’s nothing I can think of.

I’d recommend anyone use their services. Don’t be shy to ask questions—they’ll always give you 100%.

The website is great. It’s up to date and stands out and, most importantly, contains all the necessary information about our company. We are very confident and comfortable with the results.

Their communication was perfect, and we always received very quick responses. Our teams used Loom to manage the project. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Makro Agency excels at communication and clarity. They understood what we needed even based off of the rough idea I gave them. They did a lot of research and understood the language of my business, which helped a lot.

No, everything went great.

Give them as much information as possible and all of the tools they need to do research for your project. If something needs more explanation or clarity, provide extra information. They have really good suggestions, listen to them.

It was very easy working with Makro Agency, we used Slack, Trello, Asana, and whereby to communicated and get the project done in a timely manner.

Their communication skills and delivered everything on time was incredible.

After failing with the first 2 agencies Makro Agency made it a blessing to work with. They made something so complicated feel so easy.
