What challenge were you trying to address with Magic Powered Inc?

We hired Magic Powered Inc to rebrand our company website.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They built the website from scratch and worked on design elements like the color scheme. It was hard coded, and HTML and Strapi were the key technologies used. They also started building a portion of an NFT marketplace for us, but that wasn't finished because we didn’t end up needing it anymore. 

What is the team composition?

We usually worked with a minimum of three people. We primarily communicated with Max (CEO), a junior designer, and a coder. 

How did you come to work with Magic Powered Inc?

We worked with them on a previous project, but we initially found them online. 

How much have you invested with them?

We invested around $100,000 with Magic Powered Inc. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together between January–November 2021. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We did a campaign with the new website, and it performed well. Overall, the impact has been positive. 

How did Magic Powered Inc perform from a project management standpoint?

Some of the work was delivered on time, and some was delayed. We used Google Meet and Telegram for communication. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They produced high-quality work, and we had a great experience working with them. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They overcharged us a few times, and the organization around workers and the team management could have been better. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure you’re keeping track of billable hours.

For what projects/services did your company hire Magic Powered Inc?

We hired Magic Powered for several projects. Magic Powered created our brand guide, our initial pitch deck, our inital website design and website, and finally the initial version of our web application.

How did you select this vendor?

Word of mouth. I had heard great things about their work and after reviewing other things that they have published, I decided that Magic Powered was the right company to fit our needs.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

Magic Powered had a good understanding of our business goals and where our product fit into the market. They used this knowledge to come up with several designs of our brand guide. They were very open to constructive feedback and iterated quickly on the designs. Once we finished our brand book, the team at Magic Powered worked on our website, pitch deck and built our initial version of our web app. They move very fast and put together well put together code. When Magic Powered handed over the repo of the web app, we were very impressed by how clean their code is.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

There were three primary people we interfaced with (Max, Ravi and Denis) but they had several others involved.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We've received a lot of positive feedback about the deliverables overall and for specific designs such as our logo and the intro image to our website.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We used telegram to keep in touch and keep my development team in touch with theirs. They were always quick to make updates based on our feedback. We also used Figma to create the designs and post comments for feedback.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their creativity in their designs, their speed in their work and their deep knowledge of our domain space. There were many times where they needed to wait on us to make decisions because they would update so quickly.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

The only challenge we had (which was managable) was the timezone difference. We are in the United States and their team is in Eastern Europe. But they were very accomidating to meet with us late their time to make sure we had person to person communication.

What challenge were you trying to address with Magic Powered Inc?

We needed help with our branding.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

First, Magic Powered Inc did our brand package, including our logo, name, color scheme, and messaging. We initially met with the owner, and they took an interest in our project. They gave us feedback on our positioning and how we should portray ourselves, guiding the vision of how we should look. The team used Figma for the designs.

After our branding, we decided to use Magic Powered Inc to take over our website as well. They built a custom backend, and the website showcased specific ratings on products based on our overall rating process, which we built with a 28-question rubric with different sections. They also built the site with mobile functionality, but it was mainly built for desktops. In the end, they created a relatively complex website, and then we used that same general structure for 2–3 other products.

What is the team composition?

At one point, we had 13 team members working on our project to deliver the final product. Additionally, Max (CEO) and Ravi (Managing Director) were there to offer us consultation and support.

How did you come to work with Magic Powered Inc?

I met Ravi through a program called Colonel, which is a big community for people working in the crypto space. We were in the market for someone to do our branding; Magic Powered Inc was a great choice, so we started working with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent between $300,000–$400,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in May 2020. We slowed down the main project’s development in June 2022, but we still go back and forth and will start more work soon.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

After they did our brand identity, we were much more respected within the space. Also, our website was pretty trashy before, and we got a lot of excellent feedback. All in all, having those upgrades was a good addition.

We got a few bug reports, but never anything major. They worked out all the significant issues before the website’s release. Ultimately, there were a few kinks to work out, which is pretty much unavoidable. However, we didn’t have to go back and spend more money to fix something; the product worked well and was well-developed. Magic Powered Inc executed well on our vision and came up with many exciting ideas. Overall, they had a good team and did a great job.

How did Magic Powered Inc perform from a project management standpoint?

Communication was open; we had frequent meetings with the project manager and development team. We talked to them daily, and they constantly asked for approval, so we worked closely together.

We usually used Google Meet for the meetings. Our team was based in Montreal, and their team was based in Ukraine, so we met at noon our time and almost 2:00 a.m. on their time. However, they were fine with working late.

We also had a group chat on Telegram to communicate back and forth. Additionally, we used ClickUp to go through the project, and they used Figma to show us the mock-ups and designs.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They had a good vision. The team didn’t entertain ideas that weren’t useful or relevant to the scope. Magic Powered Inc wanted to work on a project that had a real-world impact and was useful for the industry, so they helped us a lot to sort out our project. Moreover, their development team was strong, and their communication was outstanding.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Time management was their main improvement area. Sometimes they missed deadlines, and although it was nothing major, it happened a few times. Other than that, nothing else sticks out.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Communicate openly about your project and try to make communication a priority. Make sure you’re properly explaining your scope, and be open to criticism and discussing how you can work together. If you work with Magic Powered Inc in a serious capacity, you’ll see that you can build a long-term relationship with them. They’ll help your team to bring your vision to reality; they like projects where they appreciate what they’re working on.

Combined with the vision of blockchain, the company I used to work for is a startup that aims to improve the conventional systems used today with the technologies it develops and the services it provides. Besides developing blockchain technologies, the company also provides support systems, documentation, and workshops to ensure the healthy growth of the ecosystem and provides consultancy services in areas such as validator services, NFTs, and DAOs. And I was the head of the marketing department.

How did you select this vendor?

As a team we used to know Magic Powered from Confio, a successful blockchain company. Our friend from Confio said that Magic Powered helped them with their branding progress and we liked their branding so we also decided to work with them.

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

After begging with a series of introduction meetings I worked closely with Vicky. I was mainly in contact with her. We started our work from discovering what we wanted as a team and even though sometimes it was hard for me to tell the idea in my head in English, she understood me even more than I did. Every week she showed me some amazing designs and we proceeded on the right path through these designs and she always fulfilled even our smallest requests with a smiling face. At the end of the whole processes we had an amazing brand and website.

What was the team composition?

I worked closely with Vicky, one of the representatives in the marketing department. I was in contact with Ravi, one of the executives, and had the chance to work with the software team as well.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Anyone who sees our website and logo and any other marketing materials love them. We also love the whole work. Everything was just like we wanted and imagined, maybe even better. And the process itself was an amazing experience for me I hope I’ll have the chance to work with them again.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Me from our side, and the design team led by Vicky from Magic's side, we held regular online meetings every week. These meetings were sometimes more than once a week. The meetings were always on schedule and very productive.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Everybody was so kind, patient and creative. The work was amazing and impressive. The whole experience was so precious. There is nothing specific because every part of the process was so impressive.

I can't think of anything
