MadeByCat was responsible for the end-to-end redesign (with creating CMS) and development of our corporate website. The scope of work included revisiting the website’s information architecture and user experience, creating a modern and globally consistent UI/UX design, developing the front-end and back-end infrastructure, supporting content migration, and ensuring the platform is responsive, scalable, and easy to manage.

Key deliverables included the complete website design and development, page templates and components, mobile-responsive interfaces, content management system integration, and the technical infrastructure required to support our global operations and diverse stakeholder groups. 

Additionally, MadeByCat implemented and customized a dedicated Google Maps API solution tailored to our specific business needs, enabling an enhanced and more functional location-based experience for website users.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project delivered measurable improvements across several key digital performance areas. According to Google PageSpeed Insights, both our SEO scores and overall page performance improved significantly following the launch of the new website (from avg.65 to from avg 85).

Faster loading times and an optimized technical infrastructure contributed to a better user experience across devices. We also saw an increase in website traffic, supported by the creation of relevant content and landing pages based on user interests and traffic trends. The new website’s flexible structure has enabled us to continuously develop targeted content and pages, contributing to increased visibility and organic traffic over time.

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

MadeByCat took a solution-oriented approach to our needs and challenges throughout the project. We had often brainstorming sessions focused not only on what could be done, but also on what should be done to achieve the best possible outcome. They were quick to respond and take action in unforeseen situations and always made an effort to address our requests and requirements. From a project management perspective, the collaboration was well planned and structured.

The team consistently took deadlines into consideration and managed the project in alignment with the different phases we needed to follow. We would especially like to thank Erman, Ulaş, Banu, and all the other team members who contributed to the project for their dedication, responsiveness, and support throughout the process.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

What impressed us most was how quickly MadebyCat adapted to our team and took ownership of the project.

They were able to understand and organize complex website structures and complete the migration and development of a large volume of subpage content efficiently.

Their accessibility, flexibility, responsiveness, and strong work ethic throughout the project were particularly impressive. They consistently made themselves available when needed and approached challenges with a positive and solution-oriented.

Are there any areas for improvement or something MadeByCat could have done differently?

Overall, we were very satisfied with the collaboration and the quality of work delivered.

One potential area for improvement could be simplifying the process for creating additional basic subpages. While I understand the effort and technical considerations involved, having a more pure approach for these types of pages's design could make the creation process even more efficient and budget-friendly.

I’m a department director of Global Ports Holding, the world’s largest cruise port operator. We manage 35 cruise ports in 20 countries and provide services for over 22 million passengers annually. We also have a commercial port operation that specializes in container and general cargo handling.

What challenge were you trying to address with MadeByCat?

We needed to create a new comprehensive digital ecosystem for more than 30 of our cruise port websites. Our objective was to establish a best-in-class standard for cruise port websites that could serve as a benchmark within the industry while creating a consistent look, feel, and UX across our global network.At the same time, each website needed to effectively address the needs of its key stakeholders, including cruise passengers, cruise lines, local partners, and other visitors. We wanted the sites to be intuitive, easy to navigate, and familiar in structure while still allowing each port and destination to retain its own identity.Ultimately, the goal was to create a scalable GPH-wide digital standard that delivers a consistently high-quality experience across all of our cruise port websites.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

MadeByCat has handled the project end-to-end, covering both the design and backend development of the websites. They first created the overall website framework and a comprehensive master design that could work across the GPH network. From there, they adapted and shaped each individual port website based on the specific needs, content, and characteristics of that port while maintaining a consistent overall GPH look and feel.

Some of the main deliverables have included the development of a flexible website framework and a set of common templates that could be used consistently across our global port network while still allowing each port to tailor its website to its own destination and operational needs.

MadeByCat has also delivered a number of integrations and functional tools, including integration with our proprietary berthing software, Google Maps integration, and other port-specific functionalities designed to improve the user journey and provide visitors with relevant, up-to-date information.

The platform has been built with an easy-to-manage CMS, enabling our local port teams to update and manage their own content. MadeByCat has also developed reusable content modules that can be applied across the network.

Their scope has also included supporting the content implementation process and providing training to our port teams so they can manage and update their own website content effectively. The relationship has continued beyond the initial launch. MadeByCat still supports us with ongoing development, improvements, and the introduction of new features as our needs evolve.

We found them through an online search and a referral. We chose them over other options because they were close to our geographic location, had a great culture fit, offered good value for the cost, and were referred to me.

We started working with them in the second half of 2024, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The most immediate measurable outcome has been the successful completion and rollout of the new websites across our global cruise port network, creating a much more consistent digital standard across more than 30 locations.
As the websites are primarily information and stakeholder communication platforms rather than sales-driven websites, we don’t measure their success through direct revenue or conversion metrics. In addition, not enough time has passed since the full rollout to assess longer-term performance trends in a meaningful way.
At this stage, the key indicators of success have been the successful implementation of the new platform, the consistency achieved across the network, the ability of our local teams to manage their own content, and the delivery of the required integrations and functionality across the different port websites.
Feedback from our local port teams has been very positive, particularly around the consistency of the websites, ease of content management, and the improved UX. The teams also value having a clear structure that still allows each port to reflect its own destination and local needs.

Overall, MadeByCat has managed the project well. During the most intensive phases, they’ve been particularly committed in terms of resource allocation and have made a strong effort to meet our requirements and deadlines. Given the scale and long-term nature of the project, there have naturally been some adjustments along the way, but overall, the project has been delivered within a reasonable timeframe.

As part of the project, Hasçelik’s corporate website underwent a comprehensive overhaul covering its information architecture, user experience, interface design, and technical infrastructure. Corporate content, product groups, production facilities, sustainability initiatives, and investor and career sections were restructured to ensure greater clarity and accessibility. The scope of the project also encompassed mobile responsiveness, page performance, SEO infrastructure, content management, security, and multilingual capabilities. Key outcomes of the project include the creation of a modern digital platform that powerfully reflects Hasçelik’s current brand identity and corporate transformation; improved user access to products and information; more efficient internal content management; and the establishment of a sustainable infrastructure ready for future enhancements. Following the launch, MadeByCat continues to provide maintenance, technical support, bug fixes, and further developments based on evolving needs.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

While we have not consolidated all periodic project metrics into a single comparative report, the key measurable outcomes demonstrating progress are as follows: Improvements were achieved in mobile responsiveness and page load performance. Organic search visibility and the number of SEO-friendly, indexable pages were increased. A navigation structure was established that allows users to access product and corporate content in fewer steps. The time required for internal content updates and reliance on the agency were reduced. Technical errors and development requests identified post-launch were systematically tracked and resolved. A scalable infrastructure was implemented to accommodate new content regarding products, investments, and sustainability. Should precise figures be required, metrics such as organic traffic growth, user engagement, conversion counts, average engagement time, Core Web Vitals scores, and completed support requests can be compared against the previous period using data from GA4, Google Search Console, and technical performance reports. Therefore, rather than sharing unverified rates, we evaluate the current results based on measurable areas of improvement.

The project was managed in a generally organized, communicative, and collaborative manner. The MadeByCat team kept track of our requirements through regular meetings and feedback loops, adopting a solution-oriented approach to our requests regarding design, content, and technical development. Key project deliverables were generally submitted in accordance with the planned schedule; however, timeline adjustments were required for certain tasks due to changes in scope, additional development requests, and mutual approval processes. During these periods, the team managed the process transparently by re-evaluating priorities. They also responded to our post-launch requests for maintenance, bug fixes, and further development with an accessible and supportive attitude.

Regarding areas for improvement, a more proactive approach could be adopted during post-project maintenance and development phases. It would be beneficial to track requests more transparently—including priorities, assigned personnel, and target completion dates—and to provide regular status updates. Additionally, subjecting enhancements to a more comprehensive quality control process covering mobile responsiveness, user experience, SEO, and technical performance prior to delivery could reduce the need for feedback and revisions. Overall, we are pleased with our collaboration and believe these improvements would make the process more efficient and predictable.
