The collaboration covered a full end-to-end design cycle. The project started with a full expert review of our existing UX/UI. Madebymad analyzed our new layouts in terms of business goals, navigation, visual design, adaptability. This gave us a clear understanding of what needed refinement.

Madebymad developed a complete design concept for both the mobile app and the website, including key UI screens, an animation, and a detailed brief for photo production. Then they scaled the concept across all mobile app screens, delivered a full UI kit, adapted the design for Android, mobile and desktop versions of our website, preparing complete page maps, user flows, and dedicated UI kits for each resolution.

Throughout the collaboration, we held multiple workshops and brainstorm sessions, and Madebymad also produced supporting graphic assets and iconography. Their work covered the full design spectrum — from expert analysis and concept creation to complete multi-platform execution.

The final visuals were described as stylish, modern, and fully aligned with our expectations, and helped unify the product experience across platforms. The transparent communication, fast iteration cycles, and the willingness to propose bold solutions allowed us to move faster and more confidently. Madebymad joined the project as a creative and design team responsible for a wide range of visual and UX-related tasks. Their team handled lots of design from conceptual ideation to delivering production-ready assets. They worked closely with us in highly dynamic sprints (that were aligned with our race events).

Deliverables included design and animation of 3D dynamic objects (loot and obstacle elements), multiple iterations of HUD design concepts with various approaches to functionality, visual language development based on retro references (VHS, 80–90s TV, early gaming aesthetics). All tasks were managed under very tight deadlines and constant design evolution between events.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The new 3D objects introduced received positive feedback from the audience, who found them visually engaging and entertaining. Internally, our teams praised the unique and expressive character of the assets, noting how they added personality and energy to the races.

Visual consistency and race results readability improved significantly and enhanced the overall experience. And their creative approach brought a refreshing mix of humor and surprise to the design, aligning well with our spirit.

Our favourite one — that the team’s ability to deliver quickly enabled us to test and integrate new features directly into live races without disrupting the schedule.

Our work together kicked off with a deep strategic dive to make sure we were building the product on solid ground. They didn’t just jump into design — instead, they started by helping us understand where we stood in the market through a detailed competitor and best-practices analysis. This was grounding and useful for the following processes. It helped us clarify where we fit and what we should aim for.

From there, they helped shape a set of clear, structured functional requirements — not just a random list, but something that aligned both with our current priorities and our longer-term vision. This gave our whole team — including stakeholders and devs — a shared understanding of what we were doing and why.

They also put together a primary business scenario that mapped out the core user journey in a way that was just extremely clear and foolproof. It later became a go-to reference point for us once we started building.

It encompasses several critical areas within our company. Firstly, the Madebymad team was hired to enhance our mobile application's user experience and interface design. Thanks to the team's deep expertise in user behaviours, preferences, and pain points to optimise the overall user journey, they've crafted intuitive user interfaces that seamlessly guide users through our app's functionalities while maintaining a visually appealing and cohesive design language.

In this part of the project, we also initiated rebuilding the app icon package, on which Madebymad also worked. In addition, Madebymad has laid the foundation for developing a comprehensive design system. This project involves meticulous planning and collaboration to establish consistent visual and interactive elements across our products.

So, the key deliverables are:

The collaboration with Madebymad started with the very first stage — concept formation. Previous elaborations were not suitable for our product vision, so the design team began with a blank sheet. They positioned the mobile app as the centerpiece of the ecosystem, serving as the entry point to our product where users would want to spend time — using our IoT device — again and again. 

After the concept was approved, Madebymad went step-by-step through every project phase: user research, wireframes, app prototype, usability testing, UI-concept, UI-scaling, secondary usability testing, etc. As a final point of this phase, Madebymad provided the UX/UI solution in the final format and with screen maps of all the user flows. This development was ready to be handed over to our development team. 

At that point, we had another outsourced development vendor, but after a few cycles of rejected and unsatisfying development results, we decided to change our development team. Fortunately, Madebymad launched their own development; therefore, pleased with the effective workflow, we handed over the development to the Madebymad team.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our product is still in development progress, and we could not be happier with the design solution they delivered for us. The feedback we received from the European Design Award Jury speaks louder than words. The solution Madebymad created wraps a very challenging set of features and delivers a wonderful experience for our users. 

Not only to mention the appearance and UX/UI solutions, we are also very pleased with the development, — big thanks to the skilled development team. They've done a big job on rebuilding and debugging the previous app’s version done by our early development partner.
