We are a Montreal-based company manufacturing a special kind of tea. It's considered a hip drink.

What is your position?

I'm the digital marketing manager.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What business challenge were you trying to address with MACMAC?

We were looking for an agency that could help us launch a microsite. We wanted it to feature a blog and be a community portal that would allow our fans to engage with us beyond the space of social media.

SOLUTION

Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.

The main project we worked on was our blog, which was based on a customized template. They also pitched an idea for an interactive cocktail creator through which a user could create drinks using an array of ingredients and having our product as the base. They developed this feature in its entirety, working from our copy.

How did you come to work with MACMAC?

We accepted pitches from a few different agencies, looking to find out what their ideas were. MACMAC were referred to us, and we ultimately decided to work with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in August 2015, and the project was completed at the beginning of December.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

The project was successful. Everything functions well with only minor glitches.

How did MACMAC perform from a project management standpoint?

The launch was delayed a bit, which is to be expected for this kind of project. For the most part, we stuck to the timeline. Because they're a small agency, whenever we had a question, it was answered by the actual developers. We had a good debrief session once the project was launched in order to train everyone on using the site.

What distinguishes MACMAC from other providers?

MACMAC is a multifunctional shop. We also had them work on artwork and develop a custom header for the blog. They understood our concepts and created a good reflection of them. This was helpful because it saved us the need of seeking out a graphic designer.

Is there anything MACMAC could have improved or done differently?

They could be a bit clearer about the development timeframe for different add-ons, especially when an unplanned change will take more time than expected to be finalized.

We needed help on building the user experience and wireframing for an application project.

SOLUTION

Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.

They're developing a web application that will be also adapted for native Android and iOS use. The web app is being developed using JavaScript, and MACMAC is working on the user experience elements.

How did you come to work with MACMAC?

We'd worked together before on other projects.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the project a few weeks ago [late 2015]. It's currently ongoing.

Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

Their onboarding was very fast. MACMAC was able to assess and understand the assignment in a very efficient way and deliver the required elements with a quality that surpassed our expectations. MACMAC delivered more than we asked and had a great creative input while always keeping the technology in mind.

How did MACMAC perform from a project management standpoint?

They are very communicative and on point with project management.

What distinguishes MACMAC from other providers?

They're not only a designer, but are also interested in the programming parts. This gives them an edge on companies that only focus on design. When working on an application's interface, you should know at least a little bit about the technology that goes beneath the design.
