I'm the founder, owner, and executive director of a sports organization that runs youth programs for soccer and basketball in the Washington, D.C. area.

We needed help with our accounting and financial document preparation.

What was the scope of their involvement?

LUO CPA PLLC provides accounting and tax preparation services for our organization. The team also offers financial planning services. The team runs our payroll through QuickBooks and manages everything else through Google Drive and Microsoft Excel. They didn't have any other clients similar, so they had to they had to learn about our industry.

What is the team composition?

We mostly work with two tax managers, including Mia. Occasionally, we work with the senior accountant.

How did you come to work with LUO CPA PLLC?

The team was referred to my business partner, who interviewed them. We’ve been working with them since 2016.

How much have you invested with them?

We pay them somewhere between $40,000–$50,000 a year. They’ve become more involved over the last five years. In the earlier days, they weren’t doing as much.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in July 2016, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve seen a huge difference since we started working with them. We feel way more informed and able to make better decisions. We’re able to stay on top of our cash flow and use our capital better. Overall, the team has been super effective.

How did LUO CPA PLLC perform from a project management standpoint?

The team is very responsive. They deliver work on time. We communicate via email and Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What’s most impressive about them is how responsive they are. They’re very easy to work with. If we have questions or edits, they’re always happy to jump on a call. They’re super responsive, and everything is always on time. They seem to have our best interests in mind.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only thing I would change is if they were local to us. They’re in New York, and we’re in Washington, D.C. We’ve never met them in person, and that would probably be an added benefit.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They are a great team. They’re really on top of their work. I have nothing but positive feedback for them.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Johan and his team have always provided top tier accounting services. Johan himeslf is extremely knowledgeable and always delivers an exceptional product. He is a direct and clear communicator. I couldn't recommend him highly enough.

Our tax returns are generally filed with an extension for reasons that Johan made clear from the beginning, and he communciated this with us. Whenever we have emailed him to request status updates, he replies quickly and transparently.

Johan stands behind all of the work at his firm, whether perpared by himself or a colleague, and he will personally answer and confirm any questions that you have. The value for service is very high. We've generally been very happy.

Ivan has helped our company with annual taxes, payroll, and 401k management. He recommends use of Quickbooks and Gusto when appropriate and keeps the business' goals and budget in mind. Additionally, Ivan facilitated the paperwork and legal processes for setting up a new LLC, which saved myself a lot of time and stress.
