I’m the co-founder of a media company. We create photo and video content for campaigns, causes, and organizations, offering production, creative strategy, and consulting services for impactful digital and political media.

What challenge were you trying to address with Loupe Theory?

We needed help creating a video showcasing our three press conference events from Montgomery, Charleston, and Baton Rouge focusing on the interruption of food assistance benefits during the government shutdown.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Loupe Theory helped us with video editing for the Unrig Our Economy “Billionaires Eat First” campaign. The team took all the footage they and other camera operators shot at three press conferences in three states and pulled together a compelling visual story. Loupe Theory built out the edit with the food distribution scenes and event moments, got the pacing right, and added music with some strategic breaks and swells to drive the emotion. The team also gave us clear notes on where to drop in the audio quotes, text, and graphics we’d be adding later. Loupe Theory also filmed one of the press tour events and provided photography for that.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The biggest win was speed. Max delivered a complete rough cut in under 24 hours, which was exactly what our client needed. The edit gave us a solid visual foundation we could start scripting around immediately. His timing notes made it simple to figure out where each quote and graphic should go, which sped up our whole process. When we showed it to the client with our proposed audio and messaging, they approved it without asking for major structural changes. We didn't lose any time in the pipeline because we could jump straight into scripting while the footage was still fresh. The client response was really enthusiastic. They said "Let's fucking go!" when they saw it and followed up with "I think it strikes the perfect tone, let's lock it in." That immediate approval meant Max got the visual storytelling and pacing right. No revisions needed, which kept everything moving.

The most impressive thing about working with Loupe Theory was how fast they moved without sacrificing quality. Usually when an editor turns something around that quickly, you expect a rough draft that needs another pass. Max delivered a polished edit in under 24 hours that our client loved immediately. That almost never happens. What also stood out was how little hand-holding he needed. We gave him the brief about the campaign goals, and he understood the tone and emotional arc right away. The pacing worked, the music cues hit at the right moments, and the visual story flowed naturally. His timing notes were actually useful for our scripting process too, which told me he was thinking about how his work connected to the bigger project. It felt like working with someone who cared about the end result, not just getting his part done.

The project's success was reflected in our revenue growth, which surpassed the initial targets we set at the project's outset.

We measured the project's ROI by comparing the costs of the project with the increased revenue generated as a direct result of our rebranding and marketing efforts. We engaged Loupe Theory to conceptualize and produce a short film to celebrate our 120th year as a company. What they came up with was a completely original, 10-minute, snappy narrative-meets-documentary ‘meta’ hybrid film we used as our conference opener.

It honored Lamar Advertising’s rich history, story, and culture in a sincere way while also poking fun at ourselves in ways that endeared. They really leaned into our company culture during discovery and delighted us with the use of their deep knowledge of our company.

It was a project and concept totally its own, and it won over our executive leadership, the live audience of our National and regional leaders, and the hearts of our 5000+ employees nationwide. They subsequently produced 3 short documentary vignettes that further tell the story of our people, how we came alongside our clients as we all struggled through the pandemic, and how OOH serves those most in need like MMIW communities nationwide.

We’re thrilled with the results because the project was so extremely successful and cannot recommend their writing, concept development, creative direction, and the overall process and people highly enough. We hired Loupe Theory to create a video that captured the spirit of our mission trips. We will show the video to young adults who are interested in going on these mission trips and their parents. We will also use it for fundraising.

I knew someone else who had worked with Loupe Theory in the past and been very pleased with the results. I watched the video they had created for the other not-for-profit and was very impressed. Deciding factors were: Loupe Theory's ability to draw out people being interviewed, their ability to tell a story, they worked within our budget.

I had 3 conversations with Max ahead of the shooting. I told him what we were looking for. He let me know what I could do to save money on the project. Max came into town for 1 day of filming (which is all I could afford) and he captured everything he needed in that day. I was amazed at how hard he worked and how much excellent material he could collect in a day.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

I worked with Max Zogby. He gave solicited my feedback at every step of the process. We had 3 conversations before filming. He asked my input throughout the day of filming. During post-production he solicited my feedback through multiple drafts of the video until I was totally satisfied with every part of the video.

We have only just started sharing the video with young adults and their parents. The response has been very enthusiastic.

Max is extremely easy to work with. Throughout the process, I felt like he was there to serve my organization. I am not an industry insider, but the the video review tools that he gave me for giving input were intuitive and easy to use.

I was most impressed by Max's ability to draw out the best in the people he interviewed for us. A videographer we hired several years ago had interviewed someone for us but couldn't get any usable footage. Max interviewed the same person and got footage that was the highlight of the whole video.

Not that comes to mind. I was thoroughly impressed by the process and the end results.

I spent three months searching high and low for a production company that can tell a story effectivly and effeciently but also who can create a stunning and beautiful video. Loupe Theory did that and then some.

We started out having conversations about why we're there and what's happening becuase the school is there not only for the children but alos the neighborhood. After many conversations, Loupe Theory drafted an outline for the video and that is what they used during the shoot.

We launched our video to our donor base and I have gotten many, many compliments on the video. Emails expressing how beautiful the video is and right away we recevied many donations.

Max is easy to communicate with. While Max was shooting the video, he did many intererviews. I sat in on a couple and what I noticed is that Max was able to draw out of the interviewees much more than anyone was able to do in the past. He has a natural way about him that helps people feel very comfortable and it was a natural for them to tell the story.

The beauty of their video. The video is absolutely gorgeous and visually stunning!

No, they knocked it out of the park and we will be using them again!

Loupe Theory has been good at project management. They've prepared timelines and are very organized, keeping us in the loop about what's happening. They've delivered on time and done everything necessary during our two-day shoot schedule. 

We collaborate using Frame.io, allowing us to comment and take notes on their drafts. We communicate through emails, video calls, phone calls, and text messages.

We've been able to work closely with Loupe Theory throughout the creative process. I've given them notes on the script and helped them craft the message, working directly with the director. I've also been allowed to help out on set to ensure they've got everything correct with the product.
