We appreciate their project team’s proactive approach and ability to understand the nuances of cloud technology, especially when working on 3D-inspired design elements. Their design expertise stood out, and their young team rose to the challenge with creativity and commitment.

During development, a few business requirements emerged which were seamlessly incorporated without revisiting the design phase — a testament to their adaptability and problem-solving approach. What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I had previously tried to create our branding within the company, but it took a lot of time. We didn't have an organized method to build a brand, and when we engaged different people for reviews, it didn't go the way we wanted. We had an endless exercise, so I decided to work with a specialized branding company. If I compare the work, what the team has done in one month is equivalent to what we tried to do in four months. I'm satisfied with Leo9 Studio's work.

Leo9 Studio immediately set up communication channels after our project started through WhatsApp and emails. The team shares their work progress, and I can check where they are at any time. We're in a good way to conclude the work with the required outcome. Leo9 Studio has good project management skills, and we haven't encountered any hurdles. The team brings value to our project. 

We don't use project management because I didn't want to complicate the collaboration between our teams. I understand it would be necessary on bigger projects, but our engagement is small, and subsequent projects will be much bigger.

I'm impressed by Leo9 Studio's team for being engaged and bringing positive energy into the project, helping us build a productive environment. Our company is in an early stage and requirements change, but Leo9 Studio stays focused and is flexible. The team keeps ingesting information and translating it into their work. Leo9 Studio adapts and contributes as we go, which is very important for a startup. Leo9 Studio will be at the top of the list for future projects.

Leo9 Studio could pursue higher-value projects for more complex development solutions. In software development, when a team builds a solution, they can sell customized versions with little extra work. I think Leo9 Studio could use software development tools to develop domain building and admin consoles.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I recommend customers do their homework before engaging with Leo9 Studio. For instance, I started explaining my company's solution as a tool to help property managers. However, we realized over a number of iterations that it'd be better to build a financial empowerment tool to help people understand the finances behind their properties and a tool equipped to help users make financial decisions. 

If the client knows their strategy, they'll make Leo9 Studio's work simple and straightforward. The team can excel at positioning and messaging, website structure, and UI design. If the client isn't clear about their strategy, the team will take longer to deliver the desired results.

We definitely faced numerous hiccups from time to time, but it wouldn’t be fair if we did not mention, they got back to us to solve the issues as soon as possible.

We never had an issue in the communication side of things, though the need for it rarely arose because of the work they had done before. But in the rare case, we needed to communicate, they always made themselves available for our enquiries and issues.

We had daily stand-ups with their project manager, who communicated with the rest of the team. If there were any delays, they let us know ahead of time so that we could prepare. We used Slack, Jira, and GitHub to coordinate, and they worked well with our team.

They gave us a professional site that's easy to update. My team had never worked with WordPress before, so they took the time to teach us how to update the content ourselves.

I was trying to do some brand definition and build my company material, including my logo, colors, brand aesthetic, and core brand assets.

I made sure they had an understanding of my business, competition, goals, mission, and vision. Additionally, they helped me define my brand values. Their designer came on at that point and implemented the brand values into our new color scheme, logo, and general aesthetic.

The third part of the engagement was the development of two kinds of collateral: a pitch desk to assist us in fundraising and social media templates.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The biggest demonstration of their value will be our firm’s success, but it’s too soon to tell. Based on our work to date, they’ve done fine. There’s room for improvement in terms of how long they took to respond and get the ball rolling. Based on the quality of their output, I was similarly pleased with their work on the logo, color scheme, and brand philosophy. The work was a bit generic, but it will be useful.

Regarding the pitch deck, the process was efficient, but there were certain issues that I expected a professional firm to have already remedied. Boxes weren’t aligned, some text was hard to edit, and a few bullet pints weren’t easy to work with. This should be a design firm’s bread and butter, but I ended up having to polish it up, which the customer shouldn’t have to.

How did Leo9 Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re easy to work with, respectful, and available. There was one weekend where I couldn’t edit a document because of technical issues, and their designer took time late at night to help me out. I was very appreciative.

They also take feedback well and stick to the budget. I did have to be more prescriptive than I expected in terms of the deadlines. Rather than being proactive, they relied on me to check in and set timelines. The final product took almost double the time to deliver than they estimated it would take. What did you find most impressive about them?

The designer we worked with was on top of things, professional, and thoughtful. He definitely stood out and I would work with him again.

As Leo9 Studio is a one-stop shop, they have integrated brand design services and work together as a team. They’re capable of outsourcing things to experts on their team. I got some use out of that and hope to get more in the future. It’s helpful for someone like me who needs a wholistic package.

Finally, they’ve done a good job of finding the balance I wanted between modern and new age versus professional and elite. This was the strongest part of their work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely use them again, but their process management and proactivity working across time zones could be improved. Additionally, they need to cross the T’s and dot the I’s to deliver a great final product.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be hands-on, specific, and tactical. Make sure you know their experience level in your particular industry, as that will determine how much they’ll have to learn to deliver your desired look and feel.
