What challenge were you trying to address with the vendor?

Build a customer platform to allow better communication between the customer and the operator. This platform would provide rates, tracking and many more features.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Lean Tech wire selected to build and manage a development team to build and maintain our web application.

What is the team composition?

We keep adding, but we currently have:

• 6 developers
• 1 product manager
• 1 Scrum Master
• 1 Business Analyst
• 1 QA

How did you come to work with the vendor?

Their name started coming up more and more in the industry as we were looking for an
outsourced solution.

How much have you invested with them?

Everything that has to do with development is handled by Lean Tech.

What is the status of this engagement?

The work is still ongoing for the initial scope of work. However, there will always be more to do (maintenance and more development) and we are confident that we will stay with Lean Tech
for the long run.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Lean Tech is really customer focus and want to make sure we succeed. When things don’t go as planned, they will put in the time and invest more resources as needed. They are always very attentive to the team spirit and the needed correction.

• make sure the customer gains from the partnership

How did the vendor perform from a project management standpoint?

There had been bumps on the road, but what project doesn’t. They were always attentive to our concerns, open to corrective measure suggestion and quick to implement change.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their focus on customer success is impeccable.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We are using them because their specialty is not ours, so it’s hard to say on that side. But in terms of customer service and fulfilling their engagement. I don’t see where they could improve.

I’m the co-founder and COO at Loadsure, an insure-tech managing general agent (MGA) focused on providing cargo insurance electronically.

What challenge were you trying to address with Lean Tech?

We hired Lean Tech to acquire cost-effective development capacity that could augment our own capacity. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Lean Tech helped us define the engineering-related roles we needed. They then recruited candidates for those positions. The team did the initial screening, interviewed the candidates with us, and onboarded the chosen candidates. They provided the resources with laptops and other equipment they needed to do their job. 

At present, Lean Tech serves as the employer of record as far as paying the resources is concerned. These resources assist in the development of our instant transactional cargo insurance product. The product itself is a web-based platform accessible via a portal and an API. It can integrate with other systems so that end users can purchase transactional cargo insurance without leaving their own system. We employ Google technology to do all of this. 

What is the team composition?

Trey (Brand Ambassador) is our main point of contact. We also work with around four people from their team to hire 12–13 other employees. 

How did you come to work with Lean Tech?

Lean Tech had a presence at trade shows; they were fairly known in the industry. I already knew Trey before he started working at Lean Tech and before I worked in Loadsure. For this project, I engaged him in a conversation, and the partnership started there. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $600,000–$700,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in October 2020, and the engagement is ongoing. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We measure success based on the product and the team’s contribution toward its development. While we can’t quantify the product directly, we’ve had a limited turnover in terms of staffing. One person has left the team because he’s had a better opportunity, but the turnover rate has otherwise been negligible. Meanwhile, we’ve also received feedback from users; our product is world-class. 

How did Lean Tech perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management is perfect. We’ve had no issues with their management. They use Trello to manage the project. To communicate, we use emails and phone calls. We’ve also had face-to-face conversations with them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The quality of their associates and work is impressive. We’ve avoided wasting time on people who either don’t meet our qualifications or produce low-quality work. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there aren’t any. We’ve been incredibly happy with Lean Tech. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be straightforward with Lean Tech about what you need, and listen to them because they’re the experts in the transportation industry. Be open to their suggestions. On top of that, remember that they’re accessible, and the team they bring on becomes a part of your own team — you need to embrace that and treat them as part of the team.

I am the CTO of a e-commerce live music ticketing company in North America.

As the company is growing, we needed to find more and more cost effective and bright developers to keep pace with the demand from our customers.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We selected Lean Tech after evaluating 6 solution providers, and the factors that made us choose Lean Tech are:

• Quality and screening of candidates
• Location - specifically in Medellin Colombia
• Price

Hired 15 developers to help build custom software in .NET, React.js, and Node.js. Including QA team. Key deliverables are ongoing because this is a multi-year project.

We hired 15 developers from Lean teach:

• 10 developers
• 4 QA
• 1 project manager

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Lean Tech has hired 15 staff in three months, which is our goal.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

The Lean Tech group used performance indexes, KPI,and Trello to share candidate information.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The quality of candidates they brought to the room, and also the screening process, so less qualified candidates did not get through and waste my time.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Cost could be a little better, but understandable.
