We’re an international organization with a presence in 20 countries, operating in education, social transformation, and other areas. I’m an IT manager for our Sri Lanka projects.

We’ve run multiple projects with them such as building custom solutions.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

One of our projects with LAYOUTindex was building a linguistic database. It comprises multiple vocabularies and online learning tools, and it’s aimed at training different levels of language learners. The entire platform was done by their team.

They’ve also built a cloud-based conference ERP that handles everything from registration to event scheduling — another tool they built is a counseling system.

All the applications are web-based and tailor-made to our requirements. They’re responsive on all operating systems and browsers and they’re built on Java, with SQL databases.

What is the team composition?

I’ve worked with around 15 people from LAYOUTindex, both developers and project managers. I also have two main points of contact. It’s easier for me to have things done with them, at a higher level.

How did you come to work with LAYOUTindex?

I did web research when I was first looking for a company. I looked at the profiles of a few companies in Sri Lanka, and had discussions with them. LAYOUTindex was interested in our requirements, they were responsive, and they were technically qualified. They hit the nail on the head, both technically and financially. They made a technical proposal according to our requirements.

How much have you invested with them?

The average investment we’ve made is somewhere between $250,000–$350,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with LAYOUTindex around June 2011, and it’s ongoing. We built the language learning platform in 2020.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re very happy with their services. LAYOUTindex is a competent team, and they’re able to really grasp our requirements. The language platform was successful, and there was a lot of demand for it. We had 2–3 weeks of continuous events, and the conference system made it easy for us to manage those.

How did LAYOUTindex perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re doing a good job on the project management side. Their technical people have good experience, skills, and critical thinking abilities. They have good coordination and communication from top to bottom.

Official correspondence is done over email, and I also call and message them. They’re always available, either through email, WhatsApp, or other channels.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re impressed with their technical competence and innovative ideas. They’re very good at driving our requirements, and they think far ahead in terms of building scalable, upgradeable solutions.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t see anything that they could improve technically. I’m happy with the collaboration.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Any customer looking for a technical solution should have a chat with their team, to discuss the requirements and get a feel for the company.

we wanted to develop a mobile app for our users to access our site's content from their phones. We significantly noticed a drop in our site's viewers, therefore we wanted to increase the traffic and visibility through a custom built mobile app. Our main goal was to provide our users with a user-friendly mobile app.

I spoke to one of my friends who is running a successful, user-friendly e-commerce business and they suggested LAYOUTindex. I reached them with the reference of my friend.

we had a series of meetings to discuss our goals and objectives. We showed them our current website and explained what we want to have in our mobile app. Within cpuple of weeks LAYOUTindex delivered us wireframes and designs. After our confirmation they delivered the first release of the iOS and andriod app. There were not any major bugs or any other issues. There were only few revisions that we requsted. They considered our revisions and delivered our app within a short time scale.

within the couple of months after we launched our mobile app, we noticed a significant increase in the sales and traffic.

The whole team was easy to communicate with. They provided us with frequent updates on the development process. Most of the communication was carried over phone calls. But after the phone call they send a follow up mail to track the record of the process.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Since this was our first experience in having a mobile app for our business, we had zero knowledge about the process. During our first meeting the team explained everything from the scratch and gave us a good understanding. Their commitment, patience, and the skillful workforce were very helpful throughout the process.

I did not come across anything as such. Everything was perfect from the beginning

I had a brand new concept of introducing an on-demand laundry service in Sri Lanka that allows people to use a mobile app or website to book a pickup service to collect dirty laundry and drop off clean, freshly ironed clothes.

We reached LAYOUTindex for a full-fledged web application and mobile app that supports both Android and iOS. Our concept was to develop an eLearning platform with a payment gateway that streams video lessons on a 3rd party platform.

We found them through a referral.

After carefully analyzing our requirements, they designed and developed a custom-built web application and a mobile application (for both Android and iOS). Initially, a meeting was scheduled on zoom and we discussed our requirements. And then they came up with a unique proposal and quotation for our project.

There were 5 members in the team including 2 senior developers, project manager, designer, and a client delivery person.

They delivered the project to us without any delay. Therefore we were able to launch our project on time. Thanks to the team for their expertise and commitment to the work. The team was dedicated to delivering personalized and concise software solutions, mirroring their understanding of their client's needs.

The project management was great, especially compared to all other vendors we have worked with. The deadlines were met on time and we never had any issues with time management. The project status and other information were mainly communicated via emails and zoom calls.

The team was very professional and courteous. And we had direct access to the whole team. Therefore communication was easy. They brought my vision to life and my website and mobile app were created with professionalism, patience, and courtesy.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Nothing I can complain about this organization. Any issues that we experienced were directly escalated to the team and it was sorted out without any delay. It was a breeze working with them.

The project was completed as planned and the site was launched to target the kick-off of SLT's new global brand Xyntac.
