The project is delivered on time and within the agreed scope, allowing True Blue to launch its subscription e-commerce platform on schedule. Since go-live, the team remains actively engaged in continuous improvement — iterating on the platform based on real user behavior and business needs. Their ongoing involvement means faster resolution of issues, consistent feature upgrades, and a platform that evolves alongside True Blue's growth as a brand.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

What set them apart was their ability to understand the business, not just the brief. Building a subscription e-commerce platform for a D2C pet food brand in Colombia requires more than technical skill — it requires understanding how subscriptions drive retention, how Colombian consumers behave online, and how a growing startup needs a platform that can scale. They got all of that from the start. They were also genuinely invested in the outcome. Most agencies deliver and move on — this team stayed engaged, kept improving the product, and flagged opportunities we hadn't even asked about. That level of ownership is rare and made a real difference in how quickly we were able to grow.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Kubo S.A.S. could have done differently?

Nothing critical to flag — the overall experience has been very positive. If anything, earlier in the project we would have benefited from more structured documentation of design decisions and technical specs, which would have made onboarding new team members on our side smoother. That said, this is a common challenge with fast-moving early-stage projects where speed is prioritized over process, and it did not impact the quality of the final product. As the relationship has matured, the collaboration has only improved.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Kubo S.A.S. delivered the final solution to connect friends to our platform, which was a key and adequate solution for the core of our business. Although the team couldn't connect the app with Facebook or Google, they connected it directly to the platform, and we were satisfied with the result. Overall, Kubo S.A.S. delivered a well-constructed platform that was close to what I imagined.

How did Kubo S.A.S. perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated via virtual meetings, emails, and messaging apps. Regarding project management, the team didn't deliver on time because of rework. The project took eight months more than expected. Since it was a project from scratch, we had meetings where we agreed on things. However, when we met again, those things weren't done, which caused rework. Kubo S.A.S. could have been more organized with our requests so that we could have advanced more quickly in the following meetings.

What did you find most impressive or unique about them?

I valued the attitude of Kubo S.A.S.'s teammates, especially Gunther and Fredy, who were upfront with the project. We negotiated points that sometimes favored them and sometimes favored us. I valued their openness to negotiation.

Kubo SAS has served as P2P Sport’s primary software development partner, providing comprehensive technical services to support the design, development, testing and deployment of the P2P Sport platform. Working closely with our team throughout the project, Kubo has transformed our business requirements into a scalable, enterprise-grade technology platform through an agile development methodology, collaborating on product planning, technical solution design, sprint delivery and continuous product refinement. Their work has supported the evolution of P2P Sport from an initial concept into a global sports recruitment and engagement ecosystem capable of supporting multiple sports, organisations and user types. A significant component of Kubo’s contribution has been the design and implementation of the platform’s user experience (UX) and user interface (UI). This has included customer journey mapping, information architecture, wireframing, interactive prototypes, responsive layouts and the development of a consistent design system across native iOS and Android applications, a responsive web application and an administrative portal. The development process has been guided by extensive user stories and functional requirements covering players, coaches, high-performance staff, professional and amateur clubs, universities, schools, governing bodies, agencies, commercial partners and administrators, ensuring the platform delivers an intuitive experience tailored to each stakeholder group. Kubo has also been responsible for implementing the platform’s backend systems and frontend applications, delivering functionality including user authentication, account management, verification workflows, messaging, recruitment features, media management, administrative tools, notification services, audit logging and overall application performance. The database architecture has been designed and implemented to support secure data management, scalability, performance optimisation and reliable backup strategies. Alongside application development, Kubo has designed and configured the supporting cloud infrastructure, including separate development, staging and production environments, cloud hosting, database hosting, media storage, content delivery, environment configuration and deployment pipelines to support reliable releases and future international growth. Security and quality assurance have been integral throughout the development lifecycle. Kubo has implemented robust security practices including encrypted communications, authentication controls, role-based permissions, secure media storage, input validation and privacy protections. Comprehensive quality assurance processes have included functional testing, regression testing, cross-platform and cross-browser testing, mobile device testing, bug identification and resolution, release validation and user acceptance testing support. Additional security validation has included penetration testing, vulnerability assessments and remediation activities to ensure the platform meets modern security expectations. Kubo has also managed the technical deployment of the platform through staged release processes, including development builds, staging environments, production releases and ongoing version management. This has included hosting configuration, domain and DNS management, SSL certificates, monitoring, logging, performance optimisation and deployment to both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. As P2P Sport continues to evolve, Kubo remains an important technical delivery partner, supporting ongoing feature enhancements, user interface improvements, performance optimisation and the continued expansion of the platform’s capabilities while enabling P2P Sport to scale confidently across new sports, competitions and international markets.

Because P2P Sport was a first of its kind platform success was evaluated by usability and UX feedback. This process continues as we release more functionality.

Throughout the development of P2P Sport, Kubo SAS has demonstrated a highly professional and collaborative approach to project management. Their team has consistently maintained clear communication, delivered structured project planning and remained responsive to evolving business requirements as the platform has grown in scope and complexity. One of the standout aspects of working with Kubo has been their transparency and accessibility. Rather than limiting communication through a single project manager, they have provided direct access to the entire delivery team, including project managers, UI/UX designers, developers, quality assurance specialists and technical leads. This level of access has enabled efficient decision-making, reduced delays and allowed issues to be resolved quickly through direct collaboration with the appropriate subject matter experts. The project has been managed using an agile methodology, with regular planning sessions, progress updates, sprint reviews and collaborative discussions that have ensured priorities remain aligned with our business objectives.  One of the greatest strengths of working with Kubo SAS has been the direct access to their English-speaking CEO, project managers and wider development team throughout the project. Having open and consistent communication with key decision-makers has streamlined discussions, reduced delays and ensured our requirements were clearly understood and implemented. Over the past three years, we’ve also benefited from working with a stable and consistent team, allowing valuable product knowledge and continuity to be maintained throughout the development process. This level of staff retention has been particularly impressive in an industry where high staff turnover is common and can often lead to lost knowledge, project delays and inconsistent delivery. The continuity of Kubo S.A.S.'s team has played an important role in the successful evolution of the P2P Sport platform.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Kubo S.A.S. could have done differently?

Timelines of delivery are very hard to judge with additions to contract but I would say that the easier Kubo can predict delivery dates the easier it is to plan for further progressions. These timelines are very difficult to evaluate with consistently moving goal posts but I believe that is a work on for both Kubo and P2P

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed the MVP of our platform. It’s a mobile and web interface. It was a very robust platform that took over 16 months to complete. We had an app that was a native iOS and Android. We also had a strong backend done in PHP with MySQL databases. We had a strong frontend that was done in Angular. They also did all the deployment and infrastructure on AWS.

There were seven people working on the project. There were designers, backend developers, an architect, frontend, and mobile developers.

In terms of QA, they’ve been improving a lot. We had to be more hands-on at the beginning for the QA but now they spend more time in the project so they can make sure what they’re delivering has fewer bugs.
