What challenges were you trying to address with Krish Technolabs?

Since our company is not experienced with coding, we needed a team of coders to constantly work on the website and keep it updated and maintained.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We began the project with an audit, where they broke down the website and created a report of what needed to be worked on and listed things that weren't functioning properly. After we fixed all those issues, we began adding new features. In terms of technology, the coding languages they used to create the product were HTML, CSS, Java, and PHP.

The team created several key features for our website. They built a page showcasing a free sample program our company offers. Our site contains a database of ingredients with links to related products that customers can instantly buy from that page.

We looked for potential vendors on the Magento recommendations list, which includes agencies that have passed a specific screening test. I called several teams, and Krish Technolabs was the most cost-effective option. I asked for recommendations and referrals, which they handed over very quickly. Affordability was the main criteria we used to make our decision.

We started working together in August 2017, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Internally, we've been happy, and the website is significantly improved in terms of quality. All of the features and functionalities we requested for them to build are included on the site. Their work was not always on time, to be honest. We experienced minor delays here and there, but their work was mostly good.

How did Krish Technolabs perform from a project management standpoint?

We mostly used Skype and orange scrum to communicate. When we interacted with them, they were responsive to any feedback we gave them and handled it positively. Being in different time zones posed some challenges.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're very affordable.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could work on their turnaround time to get the work done more quickly.

Due to time zone differences, be prepared to stay up late.

We wanted to replace our existing Magento support partner, which had provided unreliable service. The new agency needed to be thorough and cost-effective as well.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We passed our entire development environment to them. They audited our incomplete projects and ongoing web stabilization issues before initiating any work.

The largest project has been making our site mobile responsive. Other updates include a single page checkout, enhanced navigation, and new headers. The team has also done A/B testing, bug fixes, and integration implementations within the ERP.

Since engaging them, we’ve switched hosting partners and hired additional third party vendors. These moves have been in conjunction with their focus on site speed and performance optimization.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our conversion rate has increased. That’s been a significant change.

I’m confident in their work and testing quality. The team’s performance is impressive compared to our old developers, whose implementations often resulted in catastrophic breakdowns that required us to rollback enhancements.

How did KrishTechnolabs perform from a project management standpoint?

We use a ticket management system to assign and monitor the nearly 15 projects occurring at a given time. Given the 12-hour time difference, this tracking tool makes project management and status updates convenient and efficient.

We do communicate via phone as their mornings and our evenings overlap. Otherwise, we’ll put in late nights to talk in real time.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re incredibly efficient and reasonably priced.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They need to coordinate hours and time zones better.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

We didn’t prepare enough for how they’d integrate into our system. New clients should figure that out prior to engagement.

Clear expectations and good communication are also important for offsite vendors and ticket systems. Likewise, describe what the final product should look like when assigning tasks. That extra step will help them meet expectations.

I'm the founder of Rockline Enterprises, a wholesale and drop shipping supplier of licensed rock-and-roll merchandise – licensed band T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats – to online retailers, brick and mortar stores, and small chain stores.

What challenges were you trying to address with Krish?

We were launching a drop shipping program for our online retailers. Since we have hundreds of retailers in our program, we were looking to upgrade our site and move it up to a new platform – Magento. We needed a company to help us with those needs.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They managed the entire process of building the new platform and the website, moving us from our previous cart to Magento, and adding customized and B2B [business-to-business] functionality to the site. 

Since then, we've had them on retainer for doing online Magento support for our entire company: they perform design upgrades and custom programming, create new extensions for additional functionality and resolve minor bug issues.

What is the team composition? 

We've had contact with 2–3 people, but we generally work through our project manager.

How did you come to work with them?

We were shopping for an offshore developer, mostly in India, to keep our costs down. It was a long process and we conducted a lot of interviews and Skype calls. We also called their references – U.S. companies that had worked with Krish in the past.

What is the status of this engagement? 

We started working with them in November 2016 and they remain our hard-core programming and development team.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

After we launched the new website, we saw an almost exponential growth in our drop shipping program. The initial buildout enabled us to offer data feeds and product information and images, all of which our online retailers need.

Their attention to detail and communication have been very good (we were concerned about communication when we chose an offshore developer, but they exceeded our expectations). Their English is excellent and they quickly respond back, which is important to us, especially when we have forward-facing questions or a client who can't place an order on our website.

How did they perform from a project management standpoint?

They kept us updated on what was happening throughout the buildout of the site. The project fell slightly behind the schedule, but they clearly communicated to us the reasons and the challenges they were dealing with, getting the project back on track quickly. We mostly communicate via email, but if there's something urgent, we use Skype or talk on the phone.

What did you find most impressive about them?

There're many companies overseas that know technology, but Krish has been great at timely, back-and-forth communication, which has helped us build our relationship with them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We had a very positive experience with them. It would probably be good to have a project management tool where we could see all of our projects. Their project management portal seems to be set for their internal team, so it's not quite clear to us how to use that software.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Know exactly what you want from them and define the scope of the project and the timeframe. That sets the tone for the whole relationship and is part of the reason our original project went so well.

I'm the president of ProLighting, a primarily e-commerce site that sells commercial and residential lighting.

What challenge were you trying to address with Krish Technolabs?

Five years ago, we needed to find a developer for our Yahoo Store. Since then, our needs have expanded, including migrating to a newer e-commerce platform.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Krish is a full developer shop; they essentially do all the coding for us. We create graphic mockups in-house of what we want, and we send it to them to implement on the site.

The bigger project they did was our migration from Yahoo Store to Magento. They basically rebuilt our entire site on a new platform, migrating all the products and customer data into the new operating system. Now, we have a fully custom site with a lot of backend customization. Krish has integrated payment methods, including PayPal and Amazon Pay.

We sell lighting products, so they've built apps that are specific to our needs. For example, if you're buying a certain light fixture, there’s a feature that will show accessories you'll need in order to work with that light fixture. Much of our site consists of these types of custom extensions that Krish builds from scratch.

We probably have around six people assigned to us. All of them are in-house at Krish’s facility.

How did you come to work with Krish Technolabs?

I found Krish through a Google search. I stumbled across their website, which had a lot of testimonials and current customers I recognized, so I reached out to them. They contacted me right away and provided some examples. They were also incredibly cheaper than the American developers I had used in the past; we saved probably 70%–80% by going overseas.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent close to $100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together for the past five years, and it’s ongoing.

I don't have exact numbers, but we saw an improvement in conversion rate, average order value, and overall revenue improved.

They’re always on time and within budget. The entire team is extremely responsive, and we mainly use email (and sometimes Skype) to communicate.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I appreciate their attention to detail and clear communication. Obviously, we have a time difference (being that they’re on the other side of the world), but as soon as they're in, they're communicating with us. I’ve yet to find a developer that will complete projects as fast as them with the same quality.

I can't think of anything.

What was the scope of their involvement?

With our guidance, they re-designed the entire website, from the layout to the color using the already-existing content. They also provided site monitoring, so if there’s any problem on the site, we’ll be notified of the error and they’ll fix it for us.

I worked with a project manager and a developer. The developer is an expert in everything we need, so we don’t need to interact with multiple people to get something done.

How did you come to work with KrishTechnolabs?

We met them at a Magento Imagine conference in Las Vegas. After speaking with them, we investigated their work further and tested them a few times on things that are important to us, such as being able to get a fast response to our needs throughout the day, before signing a contract.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in July 2011, and we’ve worked with them for every subsequent re-platforming project. In about a year from now, when the updated version of Magento is released, we’re looking to re-platform with them again.

They actively look for ways to improve our website, from increasing its speed to adding and modifying extensions to provide us with any features we want. Even if the extension isn’t in their traditional coding format, they’ll find a way to make it happen for us. 

How did KrishTechnolabs perform from a project management standpoint?

Krish has an incredible project management software that makes it really easy to exchange information, images, and files. It keeps things organized instead of scattered. 

They’re also really good at keeping up with any updates or patches the site needs. If we have any questions or concerns, I can call them at any time, day or night to have it handled. There’s no wait time or ticket system — you just get the help you need.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Initially, my biggest reservation was there was a potential for a language barrier between us, given they are an offshore company. But they do a tremendous job in explaining what we need to know in clear, concise language that’s easy to understand even if you don’t have a tech background. It makes the process much more efficient.

They also don’t charge you for every little change they make. They’re fair in how they price their services, and there aren’t any surprises.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Not that I can think of. They’re very receptive to our feedback. I recently asked them if they had ever thought about building marketplace extensions for Amazon, Walmart, and other major retailers. They said that was a great idea, and they’re working on it. They roll up their sleeves and try anything to make the experience the best it can be for you.

Know what you want when you come to them. If you give them an idea of what you want, they can really build on that. They’ll make suggestions to ensure you get most optimal solutions.

The Critical Thinking Co. is an educational publishing group focusing on teaching thinking, math, science, language arts, and history. We infuse critical thinking skills into the core content. My name is Nile Duppstadt, and I am the vice president of the company.

What challenges were you trying to address with Krish Technolabs?

We were migrating to a responsive site on the Magento platform from an in-house version.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Krish helped us migrate to a Magento platform which interfaced with our multichannel backend management software. They initially ported our existing website and its data, and have helped us move to a mobile-responsive site in the past year. They helped us think through the decision of building a responsive site, and have helped us with day-to-day maintenance, patch installations, search and UI improvements, as well as some marketing endeavors.

We are a bit different in that we offer both educational books and software. One of the unique features Krish had to implement was a way of showing all product types in search results when looking for a particular title. When looking at a vendor’s book users will also see icons for the accompanying iOS and Android apps, the e-book version, and the Windows or Mac download versions. It was a complex and different approach to most of our competition, but it improved our customer experience. It was our idea, but Krish brought it to fruition with very few complaints.

They didn’t really engage in a lot of content development for us, but they did help with some SEO challenges, porting information from our existing site to the new version. We handle most of the content in-house. They did undertake our marketing-related landing page development, and could probably work more on content, but we haven’t asked it of the team.

What is the team composition?

They’ve assigned developers, designers and project managers to our work. We’ve consistently worked with two people who have been with us from the beginning. For the responsive redesign, we were given a separate design team to make sure the UI was in place. Several components of the company were involved, depending on what project we were working on. They have a head programmer and a head project manager who see projects to fruition.

How did you come to work with Krish Technolabs?

We made a fairly extensive search for Silver Magento partners or higher, small-to-medium-sized firms which were growing, but weren’t too large. They needed to be small enough to give us the attention we wanted, given that we’d worked with some larger companies in the past, and got lost in the shuffle. Newer companies like Krish can provide the right level of attention, and we could grow together, building a great partnership. Out of 50 companies, we narrowed the list down to around 14, focusing on India because of cost. We got into the small details with the final three companies, and Krish was comprehensive in terms of response and what they planned to provide for us. We liked their level of detail and overall plan.

How did Krish Technolabs perform from a project management standpoint?

The work was delivered on time, and they’ve become an extension of our team and business. They’re proactive in answering questions on what the best approach might be. A few projects have been a little behind schedule, but that was mainly our fault, due to changing requirements. Krish has been responsive and quick in implementing changes.

We used email initially and moved to a project management tool created by Krish for managing tasks, which they use for all their clients. It’s been helpful, and we’ve actually moved to a new version in 2017.

Their English skills are incredible—accurate and proper.

The one downfall for Krish and any company in India is that most of the communication is done through a time zone difference. I and other members of my team stay up late chatting on Skype, while issues in the project management system are addressed by them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their detailed responses to our requirements and any questions we ask is the most comforting aspect of Krish. We’ve worked with hundreds of development companies, but the level of detail in Krish’s questions, after we give them requirements, gives me assurance that they are looking to do a quality job, and aren’t just looking to put something together quickly, not thinking of all the challenges. Those questions are logical, and provide ideas relating to long-term functionality issues or possible problems. They’re critical thinkers, and these are the kind of people we want to work with.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The timezone difference is a negative aspect. They do provide a U.S. contact in case of emergencies, whom we’ve had to use twice. By “emergency”, I don’t mean anything critical of the website going down; just functionality changes we want to make immediately.

We’ve had a malware attack recently, which was resolved within less than a day. Krish works quite fast.

Use a project management system, and be as detailed as possible in requirements. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, if you’re not sure which way to go.
