BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I work Youth LEAD, Asia Pacific Network of Young Key Populations (YKPs). Youth LEAD works with youth people across the region who are at higher risk of acquiring HIV. I work as a Communication Officer and have been part of the organization for over two years. Our organization works to improve the lives of young people who are living with HIV by developing leadership skills and through education. We work in more than 15 countries across the Asia Pacific by supporting youth-led organizations with YKP grants. Youth LEAD is the largest network of YKPs in Asia Pacific.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire KOS Design?

We hired KOS design to help us develop a new website. The old website we had was very out-dated, looked messy and was difficult to navigate. We were looking for a way to connect to our users with a new site so that it's easier for users to find the information they are looking for. As a communications officer, it's part of my responsibility to manage the social media presence and to keep the website running. I had great difficulty in using WordPress to do that and encountered many issues with the updating of the old website.

What were your goals for this project?

The goals for this project was to have a fresh, youthful and easy-to-navigate website. We wanted to have something that users could resonate with and enjoy browsing through our website. More importantly, I wanted to have a different system to WordPress when it comes to updating the site. This was a key factor.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I found KOS Design through a google search. It was only until I saw their portfolio that I recognised another organisation we currently work with - having used them to develop their own website. I was happy to proceed through their recommendation and did not consider using other companies.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

In terms of the services, we established the roles at the very beginning. I would provide them with all the content and photos to go on the site and they would regularly ask for my input during the development of the site to see where changes needed to be made. This was a good process and communication between both myself and the team was strong.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Overall feedback was positive. A few organisations have reached out to congratulate us on the website. A lot of UN partners have also expressed good things about the site.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Not applicable.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The team was very supportive of our needs. At times I had to request changes even beyond the development phases, so they were accommodating to our needs. They also worked well within the deadlines and the time-frame that was established from the start. When I had requested unique design changes, the designers developed something that was to my needs.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I would suggest perhaps stronger training towards the end of the website for customers who have a hard time understanding the changes. It's better to have training to prevent future problems coming up.
