I own a consumer tech brand. We are into the e-commerce space and we manufacture and market our products on e-commerce channels.

What challenge were you trying to address with Kloc Technologies?

We were trying to get our website up and running on a Shopify platform. That’s why we were looking for someone to help us design and build our website. As a result, we approached Kloc Technologies to help us with the implementation.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We gave them the framework and the team built the site from scratch. It was a full-blown e-commerce site. We wanted them to follow our design, guide book, and brand book to make sure that we had the functionality of some of the features such as the cash delivery features.

The team worked on making sure the look and feel of the website were great, and they integrated the right templates into our platform. Kloc Technologies also made sure that we could receive our emails from the Shopify site. Currently, they’ve been providing regular maintenance for the company.

I mostly communicated with Abhisarika (Director). She’s the one who spearheaded the project. 

How did you come to work with Kloc Technologies?

We reached out to Shopify India, and we asked them their preferred vendors. They mentioned Kloc Technologies is based in Bangalore, and it was convenient because we could communicate in the offices in the same city. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $10,000–$15,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

Our project ran from July–December 2019. The first phase ended in October and the second phase ended in December.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The biggest thing was the project being completed on time. Kloc Technologies was able to implement all the functionalities and design we asked for and that it conformed to whatever we needed. 

How did Kloc Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

They had a thorough project management process. They shared the roadmap and showed us when we completed certain aspects of the project. The calls came directly with me, but my team led the project and they met once every two weeks to go over the roadmap. During the meetings, Kloc Technologies also showed what we accomplished, our pain points, and what needed to be done for things to be completed.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their technical skills were good and their communication skills were excellent. Their ability to ensure the project gets done on time had been impressive. They were easily available in order to prevent any hiccups.

Are there any areas they could improve?

If you compare their technical skills with Western countries, there may be a little bit of room for improvement in certain aspects. However, I think those applications are still new in India and perhaps, once they’re exposed to it, they can easily pick it up. The key is for them to be exposed to the upcoming technologies of the latest apps, and that way they can quickly understand things. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure that you’re communicating because they value that. Just be upfront and let them know what you mean and what you expect. They’ll definitely step up and get the work done.

I’m one of the managers. We have two businesses. Select Style is a wallpaper company and TLC Service is a business that installs wallpaper and does painting integrating.

What challenge were you trying to address with Kloc Technologies?

TLC Services is a business that installs wallpaper Select Style has been involved in. A lot of our clients of TLC Service would ask us to supply wallpaper in tenders that the interior designers specified and we’d set up all these different trade accounts. Then, we had a number of trade accounts that went to sell the products for ourselves, so we thought we would start a Shopify website.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve been trying to capitalize on the opportunity that we had with all the different trade accounts because we’ve been selling to clients that had already requested wallpapers that we had all the trade rights for. We aimed to email the people who bought wallpapers on our Select Style website and offer them installation services by TLC Service. 

I made a slideshow with around 130 different slides of exactly what I wanted from various pages of the website to look like, mainly the product and search page. It was all static images and I also included a wallpaper calculator that I want to go in there, the team just needs to make it work. 

Basically, the wallpaper calculator is important in terms of identifying the height and width of the wall. It can also calculate how many rows of wallpaper are required to cover a particular wall. Developing the calculator is quite complex because there are many considerations that the team needed to think about such as the difference of each wallpaper pattern. For instance, those with wallpaper pattern repeats have a different computation. In addition, they also help with designing the homepage and Klock Technologies also provides SEO services.

How did you come to work with Kloc Technologies?

I wasn’t given a lot of budget for the projects. I came up with the slideshow with the design that is so specific because I wanted to make sure that whoever we hired to do the job will do exactly what I want. I liked the fact that they went through my slide presentation and came back to me with a few questions. 

They were different than other companies who just gave me pricing and I wasn’t confident that they fully understood my idea. Their offered price was also competitive. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $3,000 AUD (approximately $2,200 USD). For the SEO, we spend $800 AUD (approximately $600 USD) per month.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our partnership began in January 2020, and it's ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Since I gave them a really specific static image of what I want things to look like, they’ve been able to encapsulate that. The team has followed my instructions. 

How did Kloc Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

They gave some suggestions. Moreover, they’ve provided a point of contact I can coordinate with — he arranges the calls so that I can go over things with their team. He has done a really good job. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Kloc Technologies have been patient with me and they work with my schedule. There was a time I went on holiday for five weeks and the project got delayed, but they’ve been able to adjust to that. For the services they don’t provide, they’ve referred me to a partner that they do a lot of work with. Overall, they’ve been responsive and really helpful. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t ask for more since they’ve offered a good deal. It’s also the reason why I gave them a bonus. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Kloc Technologies just make it really easy, but what has helped me is that I've had a clear plan from the beginning. I did a lot of market research and I looked at other websites. From there, I figured out how I wanted pages to look.

Kloc Tech helped me to create two shopify stores. One of the stores is for regular online streetwear apparel, and the other is for apparel and music.

On the streetwear apparel side, we specialize in silicone sculpted apparel as well as apparel made from more commonly known fabrics.

Having, such a niche market in silicone sculpted apparel created some challenges in regard to how to calculate price and weight as well as how to showcase and explain this non-traditional product.

Kloc did I great job helping us overcome all the challenges that presented themselves, and would not stop until we were completely satisfied with the end results!

We saw Kloc as a recommended consultant on Shopify, and went with them on a whim. It ended up being a fantastic decision!

We had an initial meeting to discuss our goals over Skype. Then, Kloc presented us with the project steps, key deliverables, and guided us through the technologies used all the way to completion.

It is worth noting, that even after completion we still keep in touch them for any extra work needed that comes along.

We worked with between one to four different team members; however mainly two were our point of contact.Their roles were manager and lead designer / engineer.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

I was in close contact with Vishal and Priyanka at Kloc, and I must say they did an amazing job of answering all of my questions and making sure our sites could be the best that they could be!

I am very grateful for all of their hard work even until today.

Our communication was primarily through Skype and sometimes email. I could contact them any time of the day, and they would always respond to my inquiries as soon as possible. Most of the time, I had a reply back within hours.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I wish they had a sales and marketing department that could help us more in that area.

I’m the owner of Raw Nutritional and we sell vegan protein, superfoods, and eco-friendly kitchen items online and in stores. We also own a sports manufacturing facility that produces vegan sports supplements.

What challenge were you trying to address with Kloc Technologies?

We previously worked with a firm that was charging us excessively for just minimal work. We needed someone to redesign and develop our website — specifically on the front page.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The majority of their work is on the design aspect of our Shopify site. They updated our front page and provided highlights of every product. 

They also customized the collection on the product page and how it was shown. Moreover, the team did some design work for the page banners. Right now, they’re mostly working on the interface to make it more user-friendly.

Kloc also manages the liquid code in the backend of the website.

The nature of the work is always changing depending on the issue on the website. At the start, they only worked on the homepage, but now they’re working more on the blog section or if there are any issues with the coding. We buy a bank of hours and allot each task with the hours they worked on it. Every time I send them a task, they remove the appropriate amount of hours from the block I purchase. They don’t quote me for every project — they just work on it and I trust them for the hours they’re doing.

Initially, I spoke with Abhi (Director). She then transferred us to one of her colleagues, Vishal (Project Delivery and Client Relationship Manager), who I regularly kept in contact with since then.

How did you come to work with Kloc Technologies?

Their team was featured on the Shopify website as one of the top experts in the field. We contacted them and didn’t even try to contact any other company because we were already satisfied with their firm from the start.

Their pricing is also better compared to the previous firm we worked with — especially with all the service they provide.

How much have you invested with them?

At this point, we’ve invested around $5,000–$10,000 maximum.

We started working together in January 2020 and our partnership is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We can’t really scale their work based on the sales we do from our website because there are so many variances that can change that—like our monthly promos and returning customers. However, their ability to precisely accomplish a task has been on point and done perfectly.

If things aren’t clear enough, I correct them and they will work on the changes immediately. We never have to wait a long time before changes are implemented.

I know many people love our new website as we haven’t had any negative feedback regarding its design. Usually, when people complain, it has more to do with when things aren’t working properly.

How did Kloc Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

We have never imposed a deadline but when we send them a task, we ask them to do it as rapidly as possible. We don’t have to mention when we want the task done because they always respond 1–2 days after we’ve given it to them. Not to mention we have a time zone difference. I never wait more than 3–4 days for tasks to be completed.

If it’s a bigger project, like the first one we did together, they have always updated me on its progress through email with all the details of what they have worked on.

They always make sure to answer my points clearly so I can easily follow along. They’re really genuine with their work and they’re not abusive. They’re not hiding any issues just so they can correct me every time and take my money. They’re honest people who want me to do well the first time around.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m impressed with the speed of the work and all the details they provide. I have never seen anything like this in the technology field.

Are there any areas they could improve?

At first, they didn’t really get what the company was so it was maybe difficult for them to get the sense of the industry and the vegan crowd. However, since we’ve been working together for a year now, they have figured out exactly what we want. 

We had issues with the design of the front page and the banner but once we told them what we wanted it to look like, they applied the corrections immediately.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would just say to explain your project really well. I always try to put as much information as possible and repeat the details to make sure everything is on point.

In addition, make sure you tell them to work on the backend of the website as opposed to the live one, so customers can’t see the changes until we approve them.
