They are responsive and able to deliver tasks within the expected timeframe. We also feel like we’ve gotten great value for our money. For communication, we interact via Skype.

Their ability to understand the big picture and our technical product requirements is impressive. Overall, they understand the best solution for us as a company.

I lead the development effort of a software development solutions firm that supports the cybersecurity industry.

What challenge were you trying to address with KDSolutions?

We needed someone to provide several of our projects with custom software development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

A development project with KDSolutions would normally start with a discussion of requirements. They would then get back to me with innovative solutions and creative ways to address issues and concerns.

Most of our projects are done in the .NET framework, and we also utilize various scripting languages like Python and JavaScript. Moreover, a lot of our deliverables are executable on different platforms such as Windows and Linux.

Around 90% of our projects are done from scratch, and they also do a little bit of design work on the frontend. Some of the core features can range from low-level development with network tools, to UI and configuration solutions, as well as customized hardware solutions.

What is the team composition?

I primarily interface with Krystian (Owner).

How did you come to work with KDSolutions?

We found some open-source software that Krystian had originally developed in a forum a long time ago.

So far, we’ve invested around $50,000.

Our ongoing partnership started in June 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It’s hard to come up with quantitative metrics, but they always deliver what we’re looking for, and the quality of their work is consistently excellent — they go above and beyond to provide me with my needs.

How did KDSolutions perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re on point when it comes to project management. They actually do their own testing and task management, and they’ll sometimes participate with our team.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re impressed with their ability to take our requests and come up with creative and innovative solutions. They always seem to find a way to improve our initial ideas and do it in a way that becomes more cost-effective.

We typically communicate through Microsft Teams, Slack, and email, and manage the project through JIRA.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I wish they could do more things for us, but that’s not really a negative as we haven’t had any issues with the partnership.

I advise you to be clear with your requirements and be open to their ideas and solutions.

What challenge were you trying to address with KDSolutions? 

We were in the middle of a big transition of technology to newer networks. We needed help converting algorithms from the lab to real products.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They helped us convert some modules from Python to C++ and C#. They did some activation for counting licenses and dealt with APIs in Microsoft, which are complex.

They also did some work on Android and iOS development, working with Linux, Windows, and iOS servers.

I found him on Upwork, and gave him a small task to see how he worked. I was satisfied, and have been working with him since.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Krystian handled complex tasks to prepare us for third-party integration. A few weeks ago, we integrated our engine with another company’s product to prove our reliability.

After a few weeks, it worked in parallel with 30%–40% performance improvement. The product is running for a few hundred end-users, meaning it works well and is reliable.

How did KDSolutions perform from a project management standpoint?

With freelancers, we usually have to micromanage. Krystian is experienced and knows how to reach end goals. He communicates very well. We use Asana for assigned work, GitLab for code, and various instant messaging platforms for communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Krystian is an agile master of complex technologies. In my experience, it is rare to find a developer that can deep dive and integrate on different platforms. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, though I would love him to work cheaper.

Trust them with the complex projects, but be patient as these types of projects take time to be completed.

We wanted to build software to automate and streamline as much of our business as possible. We needed to develop analytics for each step of our workflow so that we could make our business more efficient.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed our internal dashboards, tools, workflows, and record system, which is all based on our day-to-day business needs. We outlined the tools to help us automate as much of our processes as possible. They mostly use Python and JavaScript for the development and continue to build and improve the platform.

We now have a much better understanding of our business’s metrics and everything is a lot more efficient and streamlined. Automating our processes has it’s made it a lot easier for us to grow and scale. Furthermore, the software is of high quality and has very few bugs.

They’re passionate and really care about the quality of their work. KDSolutions isn’t like a typical agency that’s trying to make money. They treat things as if they were their own products.

We needed C++ low-level programmers.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

KDSolutions works on many development projects; they’ve done about 20 low-level programming tasks. About 90% of the work is on C++, but they’ve also worked with Python and Linux. One of the main things they’ve done is rebuild from scratch the entire event loop architecture for our system to make it faster and more efficient.

Additionally, they integrate external systems within our systems, do performance analysis, and speed up our code if there are any performance bottlenecks. We just give them tasks, and the team does all the coding and comes back with the results.
