The company quickly adapts to the current needs of the customer. Allocates additional resources for reinforcement when necessary, and does it very quickly.

First of all, we held a meeting to outline the development process, create a roadmap, and coordinate our efforts. The service is designed for buying and selling bullion coins in an Android banking app. The range of coins is vast, so the user can sort them by denomination, price, metal type, weight, and subject matter. The service also has a separate section that shows why two similar coins are priced differently. The work is still in progress.

The team includes seven people: a product owner, a system analyst, a frontend developer, two backend developers, a QA engineer, and a UI/UX designer.

After launching the service, we saw a 17% increase in traffic (the number is still growing) and got positive feedback on user experience from our clients.

Joy Dev LLC uses the Agile methodology that has proved itself effective on this project. As for means of communication, we use Jira, Slack, and Telegram.

The team performs excellently under pressing deadlines. The project management level is also impressive.

At the early stage of the project, there was a miscommunication issue, however, it was quickly resolved between our project manager and the Joy Dev LLC product owner.

Our app is a streaming platform. During a vide session, listeners can join the speaker by buying a micro and a camera, send gifts to a speaker, rate and give stars to a speaker after the session. There are 21 categories and more than 100 subcategories so that users could find the best one.

The development team was divided into two teams: iOS and Android. 3 developers and 1 team lead worked in each team.

The app completely meets all the technical requirements, provides specified features, and satisfies our demands.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

First, we contacted Joy Dev to improve our existing design. We started the work with the designer before the main part was launched. We worked out the technical requirements for the project together with their specialists. Then the development process began, we were keeping in touch with project managers of both Android and iOS teams.

The process was organized by the Scrum method and contained 2-week sprints and a demo version by the end of each sprint. The workflow was very effective due to the work of the teams, who provided us with clear work plans, deadlines, and estimates.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The team is open to discuss the implementation of new features and changes. They fully fulfilled their tasks and provided help in resolving additional issues.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There were some issues with the release deadline, but we agreed on the fact that such a big project as our, delays are rather expectable.

My team and me prepared brief with the requirements. Then we had several meetings to discuss our purposes and expectations. Within first two weeks we received mockups and draft designs of some screens for mobile apps and admin panel. Further work continued in iterative mode. We had cooperative discussions and online meetings, our comments and suggestions were taken into consideration and implemented. Also, each iteration clarified requirements and common vision.

I’d like to mention their speed of working exceeded our expectations. Also, one more advantage of this company is friendly atmosphere.

Everything was at good level. However, points of growth and improvements can always be found. From my point of view, I could suggest this company mastering and using more special tools for analyze and creation of specifications.

What were your goals for this project?

We needed to fix few bugs and add additional features for our app (both iOS and Android).

How did you select Joy Dev LLC?

A mobile application for our service Anketka was almost ready till the end of July 2020. We had many issues with our previous contractors working on our app: the app contained many bugs and we had to pay to fix them though they were due to bad scripting of the developers.

We couldn't afford paying them anymore for the bug fixing and adding new features. To make it even worse, it took more than a year for our previous contractors to finish the app, and this company was in the list of top-10 Russian mobile app developers.

Fortunately they proposed us to switch to Joy Dev (they are their partners).

First our ex subcontractors gave Joy dev all the information what they needed to do. After Joy Dev finished bug fixing, we signed a contract. We made a list of tasks, Alexandra, our manager, asked questions and made a price calculation. Then the team started to work on the project.

All technical questions were asked in Telegram chat with developers from both sides and us. Alexandra was always ready to help even not in working hours though we never forced her to work late/on weekend

Alexandra was our main point of contact, but sometimes technical issues were discussed directly between our developers who was responsible for the API and their mobile app developer

Our app has almost 100k installs. Android has now score 4.3, iOS - 3.6, but that's due to large amount of issues in previous releases.

The workflow was very effective (especially in comparison to our previous contractors). Alexandra was very scrupulous, attentive, ready to help.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

It may sound weird but I was really impressed that it was possible to design an app without 100+ bugs. Also we really liked their client-oriented approach (again, unlike our previous developers'). When you have a problem you expect professionals to come up with a solution and not them to make you find one..

Nothing. I wish I found this company earlier and saved more nerves:)

Stock Alerts app helps traders monitor the right market conditions and increase their performance. User-friendly design makes it easy to navigate in the app and provides several useful features. It allows trading various financial instruments using multiple API integrations. The app also participated in the category "The best app for traders".

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The development process was organized in Red Mine tracker, we kept in contact with the development team with the help of the PM.   

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The Joy Dev LLC team was responsive to demands, provided high-quality products, and executed successful delivery. We were always in touch with the team and had a vision of the development process. The experienced management let us getting the result we were expecting.

Some iterations were delayed, so we'd rate the timing for 4, but other factors can be rated for 5.

We've been working with Joy Dev team. They developed our app in Objective-C and then transferred it to Swift. The team responsibly executes delivery, provides experienced management, always keeps in touch and is ready to consult as to the future development of the application.

Our mobile application initially was developed few years ago by unnamed developer team and it was not very user friendly and non very functional in general. We didn't have enough resources inside the team to develop both native Android and iOS applications we would like to have to replace outdated Qt-based application.

We wanted to provide modern experience for our clients. We wanted our clients to have the easy to use dashboard so they could be able to monitor their equipment connected to the pool. The website dashboard was not very convenient for many of our users and we were getting many requests related to the application update.

We selected among several companies, we were talking about quality and accommodable price. We selected Joy Dev company as they got several good reviews from our friends and we quickly settled down all the terms and price on the project.

We had several meetings at the beginning of the project. We had our own designer who worked on mockups together with guys so it was kinda easier on that part. Joy Dev programmers did a good job to make the actual markup of the application from the initial design.

Intermediate and final application versions matched the design so we didn't spend much time on markup and design correction. We had some issues with initial technical requirements from our side, but later we settled a new agreement including new corrections and features we would like to have in the application but did not request at the start.

What was the team composition?

We had a project manager assigned, initially the iOS project was developed by a single developer who then was replaced by another one. The android developer was the same all the time till the finish. We were able to communicate with developers without any intermediate manager when we required so we could deliver corrections and bugs directly to the man who was responsible for correct and fix.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

After some time of iterative corrections and adding features, we were glad to have what we got and released the application which was downloaded by most of our users. We noticed some bugs after release those we could not detect during testing, but guys helped to fix them when we requested. Some of bugs were on the API side, so it was up to our team as well. But in general our clients are quite content with the new application as it provides much more features than the initial, deprecated one.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We used Zoom to make planned meetings with the project manager every week or as we required. Most of the time we used Telegram to communicate both with PM and devs. In general it was good, can't say anything bad on that part. We asked questions, we got answers. We requested features, we got features done.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Comparing to the previous company which developed the inital mobile application this company was much more flexible and collaborative. Communication is good, developer skills are good as well.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We had some issues on time schedule, and moved release several times, but most of them were on our side as we didn't fill all required features at start and were adding new ones during development.

My personal opinion is that Joy Dev is a company formed by programmers, not managers or sellers. Accordingly, if a company has opportunities for growth, they are in the field of promoting their services, not development.
