I'm the CEO and founder of BlackGull, a developing startup. We’re a digital solution for international trade.

What challenge were you trying to address with Jellyfish Technologies?

When I hired Jellyfish, we needed to complete our first MVP in just a matter of weeks. They helped us and supported our team to implement and develop our first MVP web application.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I asked Jellyfish to develop a web application where users could create profiles, conduct searches, and connect with other users. I gave them some Adobe screens, and they developed the backend and frontend based on the guidelines we sent them. They worked very quickly and completed the implementation a few days less than what we’d discussed.

We asked them to use Python for development, and they recommended a framework, but I don’t know what other technology was used. That's kind of very technical, and I'm not an expert in that area.

For the development of this first stage, we designed it as a deliverable, so there was just a single phase. Jellyfish helped with the most basic part of the MVP. We plan to extend the MVP, but we’re currently focusing on other areas.

There were two developers for implementation and coding, and then we had an administrative connection.

How did you come to work with Jellyfish Technologies?

I published the project on one of those freelancer platforms. Then, someone approached me from the administrative staff. He contacted me a couple of times and then told me about Jellyfish. I was considering several options, but I chose to work with them in the end.

If I'm not mistaken, it was €3,000 (approximately $4,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

The partnership began in January 2021 and ended on the first week of February 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

In terms of metrics, the quality of the product was good, so we were very satisfied with the work — particularly with their speed. They worked very fast, and the performance level was very high considering the price. They weren't as expensive as other companies.

My technical team commented that some aspects could’ve been developed better, but Jellyfish did a good job given the short timeline.

How did Jellyfish Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

They performed very well; there were no delays. The communication was very fluid between the two developers, the research team, and our team. It was also very easy to work with them. For day-to-day communication, we used Slack, and then we had Zoom calls once a week.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re reliable, and the price value is very high. They offer good value for a reasonable price.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can’t think of anything right now.

Any advice for potential customers?

I would encourage anyone to work with Jellyfish and keep a constant channel of information with them. I believe that they were able to develop exactly what we wanted because we gave them a precise scope and kept the communication open between both sides. Also, take advantage of the fact that they’re easy to work with.

I’m the founder and managing director of ImmoSnapp GmbH. We’re a social network for individuals in the building industry.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Jellyfish developed our Android and iOS app from scratch. Their team used Angular.js to build the frontend and Node.js for the backend. We closely guided them throughout the frontend development process. The first version of the app’s available in the App Store, and their team’s working on the second release.

We initially intended to build the app as a social network. However, we made a lot of changes throughout the development process. Jellyfish built features that focus on the platform as a messenger system but also built newsfeed and automatic message translation features. The system also supports different administrative roles.

Up to seven members of Jellyfish’s team worked on this project at one point.

We knew someone who worked with Jellyfish and was happy with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our ongoing partnership with Jellyfish began in the spring of 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

As the first version of the platform was more or less an internal release, we don’t have any metrics yet. However, Jellyfish always manages to finish tasks as expected. No task is too difficult for them.

How did Jellyfish Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

In the beginning, we didn’t use any particular project management platforms. We now use ZenHub.

What did you find most impressive about them?

This is the first software development project I managed. However, all of Jellyfish’s backend work is great. Their team has a lot of backend development knowledge.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Although we had issues with timelines, it always worked out in the end. Timing is always a problem in software development projects.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I would definitely recommend working with Jellyfish. I recommend using a management tool like ZenHub from the beginning of the project. That would be helpful when working with any company overseas.

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the co-founder of Shootzu. An exciting start up in the photography and videography space (created in Melbourne, Australia), to assist in building trusted crew (second shooters, solo shooters, editors, assistants and more). It is an app designed for photographers and videographers to network and assist each other on projects. Businesses can post a job including their rates. Local, vetted photographers and videographers can then apply for the job. Job listings will be easy to navigate and manage.

This is industry specific and only professional businesses with a valid company number will be accepted. Every member who asks to join will go through a quality verification process. Only those who meet the quality hurdles will be accepted onto the platform. The contracts will be managed by the app, and core tools will be integrated into the process so that the photographers can focus on their core business. The app will not allow users to devalue the profession (e.g. by not being able to provide a budget below award wage) and also will not allow users to advertise jobs for ‘free’ or ‘for exposure’.

We were looking for a partner to bring our existing app to the next level to refine it with new features and prepare it for launch to different regions of the world. Initially we were only open to Australian users - but thanks to the help of Jellyfish, we have since launched to New Zealand and the United States.

What were your goals for this project?

Not being too technically savvy myself, we needed to find a trustworthy development company to take us to new heights. Jellyfish provided us comfort in explaining the process and guided us on getting launched to NZ and the USA market.

We are proud to say that we were able to reach our initial goal of launching to the USA and New Zealand with the help of Jellyfish. As we deal with crew payments within our platform, the complexity of dealing with multiple currencies seemed easy and flawless upon deployment. We now have over 1200 registered users across three countries who are finding great benefits in the platform we have created with the help of Jellyfish Technologies.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The team were always available via Skype. If there were any issues or concerns, we knew we could always count on the team to respond within minutes. Communication and workflow with the help of Jira and Skype have allowed our partnership to be very efficient and responsive.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I had the pleasure of flying to New Delhi to meet the team and see how they operate. The entire business is built on a culture of collaboration - with an open plan office space housing some of the greatest development minds we have come across.

There's no job too big or small for the team to fix in rapid time. They took me in and made me part of the family for my short stay with them in New Delhi and i left even more confident about our future partnership.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Absolutely nothing. They have their processes down to a fine art, and know exactly what they are doing. Communication is wonderful and very important to any new startup and for that, i only have praise for the way they handle their staff and business partnerships.

They're a top-notch developer all around. They hit the ground running on a complex project involving different XMLs, APIs, and products. Within two months of working with Jellyfish, they already had us connected to several APIs from some of the top insurance carriers in the marketplace. Other insurance carriers have commented on the quality of the products they're working on and want to work with them as well.

Priyesh is very collaborative and responsive overall. He's even taken calls from me late into the evening outside of business hours, which I've really appreciated. They're quick to turn around deliverables as soon as we provide them with the documentation they need.

We had an existing website but wanted to migrate it to WordPress and add e-commerce features.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Jellyfish Technologies migrated our website to WordPress and implemented e-commerce features. The team used the WooCommerce plug-in and PHP for the backend analytics. The team also modified the theme based on our requirements, suggestions, and brand guidelines.

Jellyfish Technologies shared suggestions with our team and discussed how we could navigate the panels and plan the user's journey. We later shared some documentation and wireframes with them.

The team delivered the project between January and February 2025. Jellyfish Technologies still provides maintenance and other services.

The website worked pretty well. Customers say we did excellent work on our website. The performance and security became better than the previous ones. The team made our site easier for us to use and add products and descriptions; it was highly user-friendly.

Jellyfish Technologies performed multiple QA rounds before putting the website into production. We also asked them to make some changes to the live website whenever needed, improving the quality of their work.

Jellyfish Technologies was ready to deliver the project in January 2025, but we asked them to wait and ensure everything was correct. We asked them to take more time and improve everything we asked. The team delivered the project within the deadline.

Jellyfish Technologies used Jira to discuss daily updates and progress. One of our teammates, who understands the technical aspects from our side, connected with them daily on Skype. I usually connected with them twice a month on Google Meet.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Whenever we ask Jellyfish Technologies to make any changes, they accept them politely and try to do so as soon as possible. The team also has suggestions. If they feel something could harm the user or the platform, Jellyfish Technologies shares it before implementing it. That adds value to our project.
