For “A Dance For A Time Being,” Inventix executed a highly technical and innovative scope of work. They built an app that integrates AR technology to bring the dancers’ stories to life in a futuristic way. Starting with motion capture, Inventix translated the precise movements of three aging dancers into fully articulated 3D avatars. 

These avatars were crafted to reflect not only their physicality but also the emotional depth of their exploration of aging. Inventix leveraged cutting-edge rendering techniques to ensure the avatars were responsive and realistic within the AR environment.

The app itself was designed with a seamless user interface, balancing high-tech functionality with intuitive accessibility. The dancers’ motion-captured performances were embedded within the AR experience, allowing users to interact with their movements in a dynamic digital space. 

Additionally, the app incorporated interviews, uploaded by Inventix, adding a layer of documentary-style storytelling that synchronized with the visual experience. This fusion of AR, motion capture, and interactive media exemplified Inventix’s ability to create a deeply immersive, multi-sensory user experience.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Measurable outcomes for “A Dance For A Time Being” include:

•  Audience Reach: The app was shared for free at the Harris Theatre, reaching a broad and diverse audience. Additionally, its distribution through See Chicago Dance increased its visibility within the dance community.
•  User Engagement: Positive user feedback highlighted that people were not only enjoying the app but were also deeply moved by the dancers’ stories and the virtual avatars. This emotional engagement is a key indicator of the app’s success in delivering its intended narrative impact.
•  App Interaction: The AR-based app allowed users to engage with motion-captured avatars of the dancers, creating an interactive and immersive experience. A potential measure could include tracking the number of app downloads or interactions during and after the performances.
•  Cultural Impact: The combination of storytelling through interviews and motion-captured dance avatars resonated with users, showcasing the ability of technology to enhance and support deep emotional narratives. This emotional and cultural response could be further measured through surveys or testimonials from the audience.
•  Platform Success: By offering the app for free, the project lowered accessibility barriers and allowed for a larger community to experience the intersection of art and technology, potentially increasing long-term interest in similar multimedia projects.

The first outcome was a prototype app, and the second outcome was a MVP version of the app.

No areas for improvement based on my interactions. I can't recommend Inventix more highly.
