I am the CEO of an information technology company, and we’ve been around for around 5–6 years.

What challenge were you trying to address with Integrio Systems?

Basically, we needed a reliable development partner to help us make use of machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies in our products.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They are responsible for the majority of our product research and development. We told them what we needed in terms of functionalities and they mapped out a plan for how we could approach the technology necessary to deliver on those goals.

Our final deliverable is a machine learning algorithm that tracks the behavior of consumers in-store and e-commerce retail settings. Their team was able to tell us where they could and couldn’t add value, and then pinpoint the specific steps we should take. That included establishing infrastructure in AWS and a lot of custom algorithm creation.

What is the team composition?

I worked with about five members of their team, including the main developer for the project, a project manager, and a point of contact for all of our communication.

How did you come to work with Integrio Systems?

I worked with their team in a few previous positions, so I knew what they were capable of and that I would be able to rely on them for this project.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project started in March 2019 and the project is still ongoing.

How much have you invested with them?

The total cost has been in the low six-figures, around $200,000.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our biggest marker for success was that they delivered the project on time, which was really important for getting our product out into the market. They are very unlike some companies in their level of reliability and proactiveness. The reason they were able to deliver the final product on time was that they spotted problems in advance and worked to eliminate those before they compounded and caused any other problems.

We get a lot of feedback from our clients that the product has been successful in solving the issues that they have. It’s easy to use, and some customers have even told us they are getting rid of other services to use ours exclusively, which says a lot.

How did Integrio Systems perform from a project management standpoint?

Their role shifted from being an external vendor to essentially being an extension of our team over the course of the project because the workflow between members on each side was virtually seamless. We occasionally experienced issues with the time zone, but they were always on top of responding to questions or taking care of issues that arose as quickly as possible.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have a very broad knowledge base of a variety of technologies, so I know that they will be able to help me with virtually any problem I have. Whether we’re working on mobile, Java, or other programming languages, and whether we need a solution for payment interactions or user portals, their team is always on top of the technologies necessary for a solution.

Are there any areas they could improve?

You always run into occasional issues with development projects, especially when they’re as complicated as this one is, but I really can’t think of anything in particular that they could have done better than they did.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Their team operates very well as a sort of left-side-of-the-brain extension to your team. They bring a very different perspective to the work, but in the end, they respect that it is your IP and that you get the final say.

Up until the end of 2018, I was the general manager for 123Signup, which is an online event registration and membership management platform focused on the networking association market, but with a much broader reach.

What challenge were you trying to address with Integrio?

We are a small company and had a relationship with a company that was providing the development resources for our product, and that relationship ceased to be productive, so we brought Integrio on to handle the development and management of our service.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They were responsible for the entire software product form design to implementation. Our product is a cloud-based service, so they handled the infrastructure of that. They also facilitated our transition from hosting our own servers to getting us on the Amazon Web Services platform. They also provided some design services and helped us with the ongoing development of our products.

What is the team composition?

I worked with about five members of their team, including three developers and two project managers. They also had a designer who I never had any direct contact with but also worked on the product.

How did you come to work with Integrio?

We found them while we were searching for a team that would be able to pick up where we had left off when our other developers fell through.

How much have you invested with them?

We are paying them about $150,000 a year, so about $600,000 in total so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in May 2015 and are continuing to work together.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

As I mentioned, we were in a very bad spot with our previous development team, where work had essentially ground to a halt. They came in, got a handle on the existing products and code, and then very quickly developed a roadmap for us to upgrade the system again. They really saved us from a development point of view.

How did Integrio perform from a project management standpoint?

My team would develop the business analyst role of producing the specs and then we would have conversations with them about what the expectations and requirements would be. Then they would come back to us with a preliminary schedule on what it would take to develop what we were asking them to do.

It was a very collaborative and innovative process. They were both maintaining the existing product, just in terms of keeping the doors open and the lights on, and also developing new features and technologies for us.

In the former process, their responsiveness was absolutely outstanding. No matter what time of day if I had any sort of problem, I could call them, and they were available and took care of the issue immediately.

What did you find most impressive about them?

In terms of our collaboration on new developments, I couldn’t have been more impressed. They were responsive, and we would iterate back and forth on what worked, what didn’t work, and make sure that we were continually moving forward. They always met deadlines or let me know exactly why a deadline wasn’t going to be met and provided a timeline for that deliverable.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Honestly, the limitations of our collaboration were usually on our side. I don’t have anything I wish they would have done differently.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be proactive with them. As I said, communication with them can be as good as you want it to be, and I think the best relationship is one where you actually commit resources to interact with them on a daily basis.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The prototype of our Logistics Platform will incorporate internal logic and algorithms designed to simulate the complete journey of cargo, from entry to exit points. This end-to-end simulation will model the processing and movement of cargo through each stage, providing a realistic view of its entire pathway through the logistics chain.
