For what projects/services did your company hire Ingenious App Studios, and what were your goals?

I had an idea one day whilst travelling to work that for such a developed world how comes there is no digital platform for drivers to record and verify legal details after a road incident or the ability to exchange details easily.

I decided to die seeing many frustrations in dealing with claims and the fear, stress and anxiety that I would create the process and have a platform navigate what legals details are required to record. We have developed a platform to help assist with road traffic and incidents but also processing data/claims made by drivers to insurers.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We tendered out this work to three competent developers that we believed could develop but also understand our project, and deliver precisely what we envisioned and more, with also regards to the cost and timeframe to deliver the project. After several meetings and deliberations It was clear that our selected developer had a good understanding and tenaciousness to complete a task never carried out before.

We had a series of meetings to discuss our goals and objectives. We having the idea and vision we’re able to transmit into writing our project scope, detailing all the features and benefits we want the App to attain, alongside a project dashboard we used to help decide our absolutes/must haves, nice to haves and future works, this enabled us to decide what our MVP product is and what the potential finished version will be.

The outcome of the development was incredible, the developers did a fantastic job. Everything we wanted had been implemented with high quality, and it has been spoken of by our customers, they love how easy it is to use and the elegance of it, a lot of time was spent getting every detail just right, from ux/ui design to navigating through easy command.

We communicated regularly, it almost seemed like our developers were available 24/7 which is very rare. Their availability was flexible when needed and attention to detail always high. Good communication was maintained from start to finish.

The quality of their work, and how much they took onboard our project which high interest, they were very much invested in our vision and objectives. It’s great to work alongside passionate people who believe in your ideas.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There was clarity from the beginning through to the end, therefore nothing to report back. Our project was done within the timeframe required and kept within budget.

We had a series of conversations with a number of app development companies and the commitment displayed from Ingenious App Studios to bring our vision to light was clear in each and every conversation. They stood out with their flexible offering and accommodating our brand new bootstrapped startup. Their portfolio of past work was also encouraging and displayed a high level of development which clearly proved their competence.

After providing Ingenious with wireframes and beginning the engagement with them on the project, we kicked off the process deep-diving into UI/UX. We were presented with 2 alternative app designs before narrowing down to one option and were able to make revisions to this until suitable. We were also connected with a partner company who were able to create our branding and logo designs - super work from them! Once all design work was complete, the development phase commenced and we were provided a timeline of each milestone along the journey. We have reached the end of the development journey now and are close to publishing on the iOS and Android app stores.

Initial calls took place with the Lead Developer & Founder, Ade and the Sales Director, Guy. Once development commenced, my communications were with the Lead Developer and work was conducted by a team of multiple developers.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Although the app is not yet published on the live app stores, the beta has been tested by friends and family via TestFlight. There has been positive feedback generally with a few feature enhancements which we will be looking to implement as part of the next phase.

We received adequate communication from the Project Manager and he was timely in responses to emails. Most milestone deadlines were met and we were afforded time to implement changes after each deadline review.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The execution of this mobile app was most impressive. They played a significant role in bringing to life this proposition and I have been extremely impressed with the quality of work delivered. They were also great in overcoming some issues we stumbled upon along the way and their forward-thinking nature allowed us to resolve problems efficiently.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Nothing of significance to report. They did a great job in delivering what was required. Communication levels perhaps could have been improved towards the latter stages of development but I was comfortable knowing they were hard at work finalising the last features for us.

I wanted to develop a hybrid mobile app that would be available on both Android & iOS and built using Flutter.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I searched online for Flutter developers and shortlisted several different businesses. Ingenious seemed like a very promising, up and coming app developer with an interesting portfolio and some great reviews already. I also found a podcast (Coffee & Coding) where the founder spoke about his journey to forming his own company and his vision for the future; this really gave me an insight into whether they were a right fit for my project.

Furthermore, during our initial correspondence, Ingenious were extremely prompt and thorough in the way they explained things to me, answered all my questions and gave me a detailed breakdown of the project quote and milestones. This made it feel like they truly understood and cared about the project and that they were passionate about bringing it to life.

We had a few video meetings (due to covid) to discuss the goals and objectives and then I provided the team with wireframe sketches. Within a few weeks of development starting, we already had a demo version to test on our iPhone via the TestFlight App.

This was only the first of several steps though, as there was a lot more functionality still to be added with each update. But it was great to be able to see the app start to take shape. This step-by-step process was actually very useful as it gave me the chance to give feedback after each small phase of development and decide if there were any revisions or improvements to be made before moving onto the next phase.

Currently, the app is nearly finished; we are at the last phase which is a final testing & debugging process of the whole app to make sure it's perfect before launching to the public. The app is being built with Flutter and Firebase and some examples of features in the app are: geolocation, social feeds, job posts, messaging, uploading content, user profiles, saving/bookmarking, and push notifications.

Initially, a sales director and the project manager (also Founder of Ingenious - Adedayo) communicated with me in order to understand my project and come to an agreement about deliverables, costs and milestones. Then during the developmental stage, I would receive regular updates from the project manager and liaise with them frequently regarding the technical design of the app and any changes or improvements that needed to be made.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The app is not available to the public yet but the beta version is currently being tested by immediate friends and family. Feedback has been generally positive so far…I’m very pleased with the outcome and I believe that the app is very efficient at what it sets out to solve.

There are still a few minor UX/UI niggles and bugs to address as you’d expect with any project but Ingenious has been working very closely with me in order to resolve everything as quickly as possible and make sure that I’m 100% happy with the app before our official launch.

Overall they were very efficient and prompt when it came to workflow and were also able to cater to any changes and improvements that I wanted during the development stage. The project manager was also a joy to communicate with and provided me with constant updates via email and video call throughout the entire project.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Communication throughout the entire project was superb. I felt like I could contact the project manager at any time about anything and they would be there to help and address any issues. I’m made to feel like I’m their only client, which is amazing. I also really appreciate their problem-solving skills; there were a few developmental obstacles across the way but Ingenious would always go the extra distance to find a tailored solution to address my specific needs.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Ingenious have been fantastic professionals from the beginning and there is really nothing major they can be faulted on.

I’m the founder of a company that is primarily a career management business.

What challenge were you trying to address with Ingenious App Studios? 

I went to Ingenious to help me build the prototype of my mobile application. It’s the first phase of my business.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

This phase was all about tracking jobs for professionals and job seekers. I sat down with Ingenious and bounced ideas off them. They not only listened but also chipped in with advice about how we could build the product, what would look good or not, and what the features would be. In the end, they delivered a mobile application. 

What is the team composition?

I worked with Adedayo (Founder & Managing Director) and another resource. The second teammate was the front-office business manager, and Adedayo coordinated the coding. 

How did you come to work with Ingenious App Studios? 

I heard about them through a network for young black professionals. Their website was quite catchy. I chose them because I wanted to work with someone with a similar background to mine. 

Additionally, they’re still a young company so I felt that they would be more open to giving me advice on what to do. I don’t have a technology background, and I didn’t believe a more established firm would help me along the way as well as Ingenious would. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from February–June 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

30 people have downloaded the app, and I haven’t had any complaints. I asked Ingenious to leave the app in a beta state so people can test it, and everyone has come back to say that there isn’t any lag. The downloads are quite fast as well. This is the main metric I look at. People also like the look and feel of the app. 

How did Ingenious App Studios perform from a project management standpoint?

The idea was to deliver the final part of the product at the end of June, but they beat me to it. Adedayo and his team performed way above my expectations on that. 

Ingenious has been very responsive. If I sent an email requesting a call, they would respond and schedule a time. One time, I sent Adedayo a link to a website that I wanted to use for my app, and he went ahead and scheduled a call with the owner of the site. I don’t know where else I would get that kind of service. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Ingenious’ openness stands out, both to receiving my ideas in non-technical language and providing feedback. Patience might be another word for this. 

Ingenious was also easy to get on with and work with. It didn’t feel like I had to instruct them; I just told them what I wanted, and they did it. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

It’s hard to think of ways for someone to improve when they did so much more than you asked of them. Everyone does have room to grow, but I don’t have anything to compare Ingenious to. 

Making themselves more known would be better. Had I not been in my networking group, I don’t believe that I would have found them. More visibility would be great.

Think about what you want to do. Even if you’re unclear as to the steps you need to take, be as specific as possible with your end goal. Do your research so that Ingenious can offer the best advice.

One of our products is an action bag that allows users to capture images by placing the phone in their bag and using a remote shutter to snap pictures.  Before starting out, users can log in and then select a video or photo mode. After capturing their images, they can choose to save them. In order for the solution to work, the hardware device needs to connect with the app.  That’s where Ingenious App Studios came in.

I am really happy with the results. I provided requirements for each feature, and Ingenious App Studios met those needs. I’ve compared the designs and functionality of the final platform to the wireframes I provided as well, and they accurately implemented everything I wanted.

Everything went as planned. The director is great. His work is fantastic and he is very proactive. They work quickly and communicate well. The turnaround time was great, and they finished the project a week before the deadline. They exceeded most of my expectations.

I was impressed by the speed of their execution.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Implementing a centralized dashboard or using a project management tool could be useful. All of our communication was done through chat, but a shared tool would be more effective and help them scale their operations.

Be clear about what you’re trying to develop. The process always runs smoother if you have wireframes and the images you want to include handy.

Overall, I’ve been very impressed with their work. They finished the majority of the app in February 2021 and plan to go launch the platform in July 2021. Now we’re adapting the platform to be more useful during the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re currently reviewing the MVP of the app and will test the platform in the next few months.

I’m really happy with what they’ve delivered so far, especially for the price that I paid. They’ve met all of my requirements and their deliverables reflect my design.

I communicated with the project leader through phone calls. Otherwise, they just updated me on their progress.

I would have liked to speak to the wider team, and not just our project leader. That would have streamlined our communication.

Their team built an Android and iOS mobile application. The solution is a map aimed at the UK mortgage sector. It allows mortgage brokers and property developers to quickly compare different mortgage types and their ROI.

We had an idea that we needed to turn into a working product.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We spent a fair bit of time talking through, discussing, and architecting potential solutions as well as the initial scope of the MVP. That process went by quickly, and after that point, Ingenious helped us flesh out the MVP through to a full working version. They provided UI/UX resources to spruce up the design along the way.

We now have a working backend system, an iOS version, and a payment system set up. Recently, they’ve been helping me design the Apple and Android variants, which we’re using Flutter for.  

We haven’t officially launched the product yet, but we plan to shortly.

At the moment, the main person I work with is Adedayo (Founder & Lead Developer). I’m not sure how many other people he’s had working on the project throughout.

I’d planned on using an offshore development house, but over time I realized they didn’t really understand what I wanted to do. I reached out to Adedayo to do the MVP, and he eventually came on board to complete the entire project.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We haven’t launched yet, so we don’t have any metrics or statistics on the app itself. However, I’ve been very impressed by how much Ingenious has been able to achieve in such a short amount of time. We’ve never had any blockers that’s stopped development along the way. From what I’ve heard, that’s unusual for a development project. 

Even when we’ve had delays, we’ve always found solutions.

Ingenious performs well. They’re pretty accurate when it comes to meeting timelines, even given some pivots we’ve had with COVID-19. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their communication is excellent. We always know where we are in the project and what’s going on.

Ingenious has given me great service and done everything I’ve wanted to do. The only thing I wish they could do differently is challenging me a little bit more. It’s not a major criticism, but it would give them an improved service.
