In this project, ImproveIT were providing us with additional resources; the key measurable outcomes in this capacity related to the quality of the individuals put forward, their suitability for the role, Improve's understanding of our needs and then finally the cross-collaboration between our two companies to ensure our project was delivered successfully.

As this project related to staff augmentation, requirements for any PM work were light, however, from an account management perspective, ImproveIT have been excellent - in particular, our account lead, Oleg, who, when first engaged, immediately understood the requirements and within days was providing us with valid options. 
It was not long before Oleg had helped us find suitable candidates. Since then we have found Oleg and his team to be extremely professional, patient, and most importantly, highly skilled at what he and they do.

I'm an executive at a startup that offers a signing authority platform for organizations to take ownership of their signing authority management practices. This platform helps them securely manage, maintain, update and share their authorized signatures with external partners like banks, accountants, and other organizations.

What challenge were you trying to address with ImproveIT Solutions?

When I worked in banking, I realized my clients had many issues managing their company’s signing authority. The company’s information was frequently outdated, and I couldn’t address this problem working in a bank. 

Until now, this has been a manual process that involves sending physical letters and other practices that are no longer secure. I wanted to create a platform that provided companies with a safe, accountable, and auditable process. I needed help to develop this product since I don’t have a tech background.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I initially contacted ImproveIT Solutions to help me develop my product’s MVP. I had previously designed some sketches, which they used for the UI design. I also had my user personas already mapped out.

When we started working together, ImproveIT Solutions suggested adding an admin dashboard to the platform since I had only considered the end user’s interface. ImproveIT Solutions has designed the UX of this admin dashboard, which gives me the ability to check my client’s onboarding process and manage and maintain their accounts. 

ImproveIT Solutions works in sprints that usually last 2–4 weeks. We target the results for each sprint, and they do a demo at the end. ImproveIT Solutions has used Node.js for the backend development, and the frontend is hosted in Vercel and uses GitHub and AWS. They’ve given me access to all of these platforms. 

The platform ImproveIT Solutions has developed allows companies to log in and view the existing authorized individuals to sign on behalf of their organization. Users can maintain the information of those individuals securely and change it whenever they need to. The platform generates letters and directions for the users to follow and runs them through the process of updating their company’s signing authority. Moreover, the platform sends the company’s information to the corresponding financial institutions. 

At the moment, ImproveIT Solutions is working on some adjustments to the MVP they’ve developed. However, I’ve taken this version to market and talked to beta testers, and we’re waiting to start the next phase of the project.

I work primarily with ImproveIT Solutions’ project manager. I’ve also worked with four other teammates, including a designer, two front- and backend developers, and a QA specialist who got involved in the project’s later stage. 

How did you come to work with ImproveIT Solutions?

I originally was looking for a CTO but couldn’t find the right partner, so I decided to outsource the product’s development.

Initially, I interviewed several companies across Eastern Europe. I started working with a Polish company, but after the Russian Invasion of Ukraine started, their and other Polish companies’ prices were affected, so their quote for the MVP was outside of my budget. 

After this, I interviewed 6–7 more companies and chose ImproveIT Solutions because of their team size. The engineers I talked to seemed interested and engaged in the project, and their prices were economical compared to other vendors I interviewed.

We started working together in 2022, and our partnership is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

ImproveIT Solutions has developed a functional MVP ready for beta testers to utilize. This MVP looks good, has no bugs, and is user-friendly. ImproveIT Solutions has fulfilled the CTO role that I was missing. They've been my development partner and worked with me with a consultancy approach; they've helped me understand what is executable within my budget and what's best to leave for future iterations. 

Moreover, ImproveIT Solutions has done a great job of understanding my project, which is complex. The platform's system and workflow need to match the real-world process that goes into managing an organization's signing authority. This makes the platform's system more complicated from a developer's perspective, but they now understand its reasoning. 

How did ImproveIT Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

ImproveIT Solutions has met deadlines and has been considerate of my budget and time. Our original timeframe has been extended because we decided to add more features to the MVP. 

I like ImproveIT Solutions' collaborative approach. The project manager helps me understand the process and deliverables. We frequently communicate through WhatsApp and Skype, and they've been understanding and responsive.

We have a big time difference, and ImproveIT Solutions' staff has worked late sometimes to facilitate meetings with me. They understand my concerns for business continuity, and regardless of their connectivity status, they always have the project work done to date, saved, and accessible for me.

We have no clear metrics to measure since they augment our team and work with us on our sprints. All tasks are done on their side; they’ve always delivered on time, and their code quality is good. Overall, they’re perfectly fine for our team.

I don't know whether we were lucky or not but Anatoliy is a true PHP expert, and someone who is very organised and detailed oriented. Therefore he needed the minimum supervision in order to get things done. And he did it extremely well.

Extremely fluid: we use Slack and Asana to manage our ticketing and projects.

The quality of the developers is very high. They jump right into a project and become operational extremely quickly provided an added value extremely fast.

Actually we are extremely satisfied about everything, and the things we could have done differently are more on our side as to how we managed/briefed/interacted with Improve IT. We could have been more efficient in organization of his workload.
